$9,000.
That’s a nice amount to raise for the Cystic Fibrosis foundation. I was glad to raise money for them in my match against Diamond Legend on the Charity show. I’m a tad bit sore from going through so many tables, but I leave feeling grateful.
I’m grateful to help a good cause.
I’m grateful to represent APW.
I’m grateful to face a guy like Diamond Legend.
Diamond may not admit it, but we both took each other to the limit. We fought to a draw, but that draw was for a good cause. I’m glad that a wrestler the caliber of Diamond Legend is an APW MegaStar, if you haven’t watched any of his promos or his matches... do it. You’ll be glad that he’s signed too. We like having the top talent in APW.
Last week on Overdrive, it seems Delikado has taken to be a mentor to my son. I’ve had trouble connecting with him lately and Delikado may be a positive influence on him. It’s been a hard adjustment to start calling him Jimmy, but I’m noticing a new focus that he has. It seems the Bawse may be a help to my son. TJ has been a good influence on him as well.
Through TJ and me missing each other over the past few weeks, my family had the honor to show TJ some Southern Hospitality. Jimmy told me the advice that TJ gave him. TJ is one of Asylum’s Pillars and one of the strongest competitors in APW. I’ve never seen anyone punch so hard in my life. Dude is a legit monster. I had the privilege to work with TJ over the past few weeks. I feel like I’m a better competitor now because of his training. I was very impressed with his strength during his stay at my home. Some people are only weight room strong. I assure you that TJ is not one of them. He kept up the pace and did a fine job in helping me do my chores. Some people may look down on a hard day’s work and mock me for saying I appreciate people, whether they are cheered or boo’ed by the fans, but I call a spade a spade.
I’m a proud APW MegaStar and being in a promotion with men the calibur of Diamond Legend, Delikado, A.C. Smith, Michael Lively, NBK and TJ make me realize how blessed I am to be here. Some I have been on friendly terms with, some not so friendly, but these are only a part of the whole, because every MegaStar brings something positive to the table. That’s what makes APW great. There are no weeks off in APW.
This week is no different than any other week.
‘Ol Buckson Gooch is facing some of the wrestling’s best. In APW, every week you face competitors that could be world champions anywhere else. Evan McDonald and Megan Andrews are great competitors.
Evan McDonald, I’ll admit, rubs me the wrong way. He does have a mountain of talent... he has the best that money can buy. He and I are from completely different worlds. I’ve never had a lot of money, I sure wasn’t raised in the lap of luxury, but that shouldn’t make me dislike Evan. I’m proud of my upbringing and who I am now. For me to dislike him for that reason would cause me to imply that my upbringing wasn’t as good. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Evan McDonald fights for a far different reason than I do... but he still fights.
But Evan, regardless of our background and the level of our wrestling training, we will still collide in our match. I may not be a rich man, but my fists are hard, my muscles are large, and my competitive nature is strong.
Do you want to win as badly as I do? You’ll have to decide. I will be bringing my best this week.
Megan Andrews, to be honest, I don’t know much about you, but what I’ve seen on Television has impressed me. You have a storied background in wrestling, but even you have to admit the talent level here in APW is far higher than anywhere else. This week, you will need to bring your best. Let’s be honest, Evan McDonald is carrying your team.
Carrying.
You may have been great in your corner of the wrestling universe, but APW is a very different place. Evan McDonald is a capable leader. He’s a respectable wrestler who will do great things when he’s drafted to Overdrive or Asylum.
Megan, do your best this week. If you win, it will be because you did well. If you lose, it will be because you didn’t carry your weight. Evan McDonald has a reputation for “bringing it” in the ring. Develop that reputation for yourself. I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. Just pull your own weight and you’ll have a better chance of winning. Not a great chance, but a better chance.
Tommy Knoxville. My partner. We are very much different. We are opposite in most ways of life. The thing we have in common made us a force last week. A desire to win and a desire to succeed. Let’s be honest, we probably will never be close friends. I’m fine with that. I’m sure you are, too. The only thing that we care about is bringing our strengths to the game.
Tommy, I’m sure we can admit that Leon Roberts and Jake Titan are a very solid tag team. They were able to back their smack last week... at least that’s what I think the kids are saying these days. Words don’t hurt my feelings, I care about action and the Natural Born Killaz are for real, APW Universe. Tommy and I will have our hands full in posting a good time to make sure we go on to Rasslemania. NBK are very capable. It was an honor to do battle with them, a real shame it had to end the way it did... but there’s no use in crying over spilt milk. We pack up and move on.
McDonald and Andrews... you have my undivided attention this week. I’m not one to brag on myself, but I’m not the slack jawed idiot you may try to make me out to be. I’m a respectful man who tries his best.
You will get my best.
If you defeat me, I’ll shake your hand and congratulate you.
If you lose, and there is a better chance this will be the outcome, take it on the chin and consider it paying your dues here in APW. My Razorback Scrambler is no joke... and I’ve got some new moves added to my arsenal thanks to TJ.
This week will be a fun week. But every week is a fun week. Especially when dishing out Southern Hospitality.
The camera zooms in on Buckson Gooch rocking in the rocking chair on his porch. He takes a drink from his glass of sweet tea, and wipes his mouth off with his dirty forearm.
Buckson Gooch: Is this how that Tout thing works J-Mac...I mean Jimmy?
The camera nods up and down.
Buckson Gooch: The past few weeks have been incredible for Ol’ Buckson Gooch. Some things have fallen in my favor, some haven’t. I’ve learned from it all. The more knowledge you have, especially in wrestling, the better off you are.
Gooch takes another drink.
Buckson Gooch: This week will be the new culmination of my skills. I’ll try my best and give it all I’ve got. I’m capable but I’m dangerous. I’m kind but I’m harmful. It’s the wrestling business tied in with Southern Hospitality. See you at Meltdown.
Jimmy Gooch (of camera): Good job, Dad.
The tout ends as hastily as it began.
Never in my wildest dreams would I think I’d be using Tout. But then again, never in my wildest dreams would I think that millions of fans would be watching me each week.
Megan and Evan, don’t take my hospitality as weakness. Don’t take my kindness as a character flaw that will allow you to have the upperhand. I’ve delt with bitter winters, scorching summers, drought, and floods. I’m weathered, resiliant, and tough as boot leather.
You’ll find this out soon enough.
So feel free to make fun of my heritage, make fun of the way I talk, you can even make fun of me for how I dress...but all of that won’t matter when the bell rings.
If you’re going to say something this week...make it meaningful. Make it something you won’t regret having to eat in a piece of humble pie next week.
I’m looking forward to a solid match.
Tommy and I will do our part...you do yours.
