Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.

Three men enter the ring on Overdrive.
Two of which are Hall of Fame calibur wrestlers.
The third...is Buckson Gooch.
To say the odds are stacked against the Possomgrape Powerhouse...but I’ve always thrived on having my back against the wall. It is that mindset that kept my farm going and has kept my wrestling getting better.
I understand why this match is taking place. We have three championship contenders. Three very different agendas. While my opponents are riding high from top profile victories...I’ve had one on Overdrive. But that is to be expected. I’m growing and I’m learning. It will click one day...it may even be this week...and when it does...yee haw...oh boy, when it does!
The only way I will ever reach my potential will not be in trying to stop an Envi or a Gates, but it will be in starting the fire for Buckson Gooch. I can only control my actions. I can’t play judge for others pertaining to talent, because I have more than my hands full taking care of myself and my lack of ability. I’m getting better...I always give my best...but it takes time to become a top flight wrestler. You have to be patient, learn, and grow. It’s like... folk music.
I love folk music. There is something about folk music that touches your soul. Evades the superficial and runs deep into soul. Anyone can sing or talk to a beat about being a ‘player’ being a ‘winner.’ Anyone can confer lyrics on getting a vast quantity of women (yet not sing about the vast amount of venereal diseases that come with that lifestyle.) It takes a special kind of music to touch on our mortality. A mature audience can truly appreciate the sensitivities in the music. The kind of person who would gladly wait to enjoy filet mignon instead of going for the quick fix of a McDonalds Big Mac. Folk music takes precious time. You never doubt the genre. It plays to it's own strength and doesn't waver with time.
For me to win is for me to play to my strengths. For me to play up to what I have.to work with. I could sit around and be jealous of the TMarvs, Delikados, Evan Envis, Kashs, L1s, and CJ Gates of the world...but the reason they are great is because they play to their strengths. The found what worked for them. I am finding what works for me.
I have size, I have rock hard fists, and I have heart. Three things that lack in the generation below us, guys. Regardless of what the fans think about my opponents, the reason Gates and Envi are where they are is because of a similar drive. I know they see it in me. They are by no means lazy.
This match will be tough. But I feel I am up for it. I’ll give it my all and I’ll do it all with a flair of Southern Hospitality.
Gooch is stretching in the floor of his living room. He’s reaching his mighty oaks for arms towards his toes, trying to release the tension in his hamstrings. He was in deep thought, almost a meditation. Overdrive will be a night to remember, but just the past week has been crazy. Meltdown. Charity Show. Clash of Titans. Iron King. TJ has taught him a lot over the past few weeks.
Stretching is essential.
Buck normally would just fight through the pain, but finding out that there were things he could to do minimize the pain, and even make him more powerful (with new flexibility). Gooch does as he was trained diligently. Jimmy walks into the room holding a book.
Jimmy Gooch: Stretching out, Dad? You ever worry about really getting hurt?
Buckson Gooch: Kill or be killed, Jimmy.
Jimmy Gooch: “Everyone sees what you appear to be, few experience what you really are.” Do you know who said that, Dad?
Buckson strains in the stretch, but you can tell he’s searching his brain for an answer that is obviously not there.
Buckson Gooch: Didn’t, hmmm, Abraham Lincoln say that?
Even though Jimmy knew that Buck didn’t know the answer, he was still interested that that was the response.
Jimmy Gooch: No, it was Machiavelli. Delikado gave it to me to read. I don’t know why he did it, but I’m enjoying reading it.
Buckson Gooch: So what was the point of your little quote there, son?
Jimmy Gooch: Well, people look at you and have expectations. Defy those expectations and be the best Buckson Gooch you can be.
Buck sits there for a second taking everything in, first he wonders if he could pronounce Machiavelli...then he wonders why that would be a type of book Delikado would pass off...He’s glad that Jimmy is excited about reading though...and he lets what Jimmy is saying sink in.
Jimmy Gooch: So Dad, while you are stretching your muscles, stretch your mind. What have you done that has worked for you? What could you do that you haven’t done? Focus on that.
Jimmy walks by and pats his father on the head as he continues to stretch. Jimmy leaves the room, opening the book to devour more. Buck likes that his son is growing with intellect, and he likes the advice.
He will give it his best shot against Gates and Envi...that’s all he can do. All he can be is Buckson Gooch...He hopes that this week the world will see the best Buckson Gooch they’ve ever seen.
