Cid Phoenix who was rumoured to be participating in ViW, has officially stepped down as a competitor for the fed, stating the following to a spokesperson:
"I have my hands full here in APW, and it wouldn't be fair to myself to spread myself too thin. I have Rasslemania and the Meltdown Rumble coming up, and I'd rather devote my time here trying to make my mark, as I'd really like to finish up my career here in the APW."
When asked if he felt confident about winning the Meltdown Rumble, Phoenix merely smiled and said:
"I'm a real underdog in the event. But I've always liked being the underdog. Been the underdog most of my whole career. But about winning the event? Well, Let's just say that I wouldn't count this old dog out of the running. I've still got some of that old magic in me, so never say never.."
