”Just you and I tonight eh sweetheart?”
Terry looks at his APW Undisputed Championship as he smiles. The hotel suite big enough for 20 people is virtually empty. Terry sits down on the couch next to his title and smiles.
”It’s funny. With all this power and success, I thought I’d have more people around me. And don’t get me wrong, there are plenty who want to be around me, even some who even care about me, but most of them only do it because they have to, or their told to.”
Terry doesn’t seem to be feeling sorry for himself despite the words actually coming out of his mouth. He instead seems to be reflecting on the truth.
”But it seems that all power, all success comes with a price. There isn’t a soul around who wants to spend time with me anymore. I can’t say I blame them. I’m the most untrustworthy prick on the planet. Everything I’ve done to secure my spot has basically alienated the world from me. I guess I should be sad about that. But I’m not.”
He looks at the title again, not even noticing the absurdity of having a conversation with a gold plated leather strap.
”The Sindicate and I have the same goals. I help them towards theirs, they help me towards mine. As long as I’m useful to them that is, and likewise as long as their useful to me. Level One and I are associates by convenience. We need each other to succeed. There is and never will be a friendship there, or anywhere.”
Terry smiles sarcastically.
”No, see, I gave all of that up for you didn’t I?”
He looks at the belt almost expecting a response.
”You’re all I have, and that’s quite okay with me. But there are those out there who want to take you away from me, who want to own you for themselves. I will NOT allow that to happen.”
Terry grabs the belt and clutches it to himself.
”They want to leave me completely alone, with nothing. No, my actions of removing everything else from my life for you have left me with no choice in the matter. I cannot lose you. I will be left with absolutely nothing! No friends, no family, no title. Just me and all of my regrets and memories. Not that I have regrets mind you.”
Terry pulls the title away and looks at it.
”Don’t get me wrong. I have no regrets. I’m glad I did what I did! After all, friends come and go but glory lasts forever right? But I am starting to realize the consequences of my actions.”
He pauses for a second and lets out a sigh.
”When this ride finally comes to an end, I’ll be left with nothing, absolutely nothing and nobody by my side. Maybe if I did things differently, maybe If I was a different person, things would end better.”
Terry shrugs as he looks at the title.
”Guess I’ll just have to make sure it doesn’t end then won’t I? CJ Gates is trying to steal you away from me. But don’t you worry for one second, I won’t let him defile you. I won’t let him tarnish your status. I won’t let you become a meaningless symbol around the waist of an unworthy man. I will do what I’ve always done!
I will sacrifice all else to make sure you’re safe. I will throw friends and lovers to the fires if need be. I will soil my hands with the blood of Gates. I will crush the life out of him and grind his soul into a fine powder to be swept into a waist bin and forever disposed of!”
Terry looks into the title longingly.
”You are my whole life. You are my everything. I refuse to be alone, I refuse to be empty. I will cling to you with my very last breath.
You are all there is for me, you are all there ever will be. You and I will be together forever, or we’ll die off as one. Nobody will take you from me and they shall regret trying, they shall DIE trying!”
Terry smiles as he kisses the gold faceplate of his title and then looks up to the camera.
”No folks, I haven’t lost all my marbles, and I certainly haven’t “gone Noble.” I just don’t think you get it. I don’t think anyone understands. And I KNOW CJ doesn’t get it, or he would be so cavalier in coming after MY possession.
Look around me. There is nobody here with me on the eve of the biggest night in my career, in my life. This is ALL there is. So there is only one thing I have to lose…and it’s right here. Like a rabid raccoon cornered… I will fight back. Like a lioness protecting her cubs… I will fight back. Like a desperate man clinging to the last semblance of life… I will fight back.
So when CJ Gates comes to steal the only thing I have, he’s coming to steal my life. He’s coming to kill me.”
Terry glares into the camera with an intense expression
”Because that’s what it will take, and CJ knows this! But you can’t kill me. I am fucking bulletproof as I’ve proven time and time again. CJ risks his life when he comes after my entire reason for existence. I will make sure he pays the ultimate price.
I will make an example out of CJ Gates, and I will ensure that no other poor misguided soul makes the same mistake.”
Terry smiles a joyless smile before letting out a loud cackling laugh as the scene fades to black.
“He’s an evil and vile THING that needs to be vanquished from this earth!”
“He destroys, and destroys, and only does so for his own amusement. I hope this is his own destruction.”
“I hate his fucking guts. HE is the Devil”
“I hope he get’s his head ripped off, literally. The only good thing about HIM will be his funeral.”
“This world, and I don’t just mean APW, or wrestling, I mean the planet earth, would be improved exponentially if somebody found the technology to shoot him into orbit so that not even his rotting corpse could pollute the land.”
Hate is by far the most powerful and dangerous emotion that the human psyche could possibly produce. It doesn’t come from any thing fabricated. It isn’t introduced by one single action. It isn’t manipulated by words like love or happiness. And it doesn’t simply disperse at a blink of an eye like sadness or humor. It is a raw and natural emotion that burns hot and never fades away. It latches on at the very core of your soul and turns everything it touches into a cold, black, dead wasteland of pure hatred. It breeds, and it grows and it spreads. Sometimes it can hide away, but it never GOES away! It never leaves. And it can be ignited by the slightest instigation!
Thos words and feelings above are all resulting from hate, and they’re all directed at one man. The Real Show Terry Marvin has become the lightning rod of hate in APW. There’s not a man, woman or child that he hasn’t set against him, that he hasn’t enraged. He is the most hated man in APW…but it isn’t out of sheer annoyance like that of Stefan Raab who could fade away tomorrow and would take with him all of those feelings of exasperation. No this hatred is built out of something deeper, something of which exists no words.
This hate is begat by many things: anger, disgust, adherence, repugnance, and most of all… FEAR! People Fear what they don’t understand. People fear that which makes them feel uncomfortable or threatened. People hate what they fear as they see it as a threat to their safe little worlds that they’ve fabricated to make them feel important! Their fears and hatreds in this case are not misplaced. They are warranted. They are deserved. Terry Marvin is not some misinterpreted soul who’s words are often mistaken in meaning. He is an evil and vile person who does what he does for no other reason than to further his own agenda.
He realizes this hate. He understands this hate. And he Embraces this hate. He is not a man to turn his whole life around because people dislike him. This hate will not change him, will not be his revelation. He is FUELED by hate. He is inspired by hate. And he will use it to tear down the very fabric of reality that those who despise him hold dear to their hearts. He’s the screaming kid in the corner throwing the worse tantrum in his life. The more he’s punished and yelled at, the more damage he can do. But can people really do the right thing? Can people ignore his destruction and menace?
This world needs Hate, and it needs villains. Without Villains, there would be no heroes. Without Hate, there would be no reason for Love! Like it or not, Hate is essential.
And as long as there’s hate… He’ll have the power.
And as long as he has the power… he’ll have the hate.
It’s a vicious circle you can’t stop. Oh, you can try, but you can’t.
So you WILL hate him. It’s only natural.
So the cycle continues.
So his power grows.
The shadows of the lights dance off the walls as the large basement comes into view. The stares leading down sound hollow as the sound reverberates throughout the complex.
Men in hooded cloaks stand flood the basement sitting around a large stone table. A few feet past the table on a raised platform sit three large chairs ordained with carvings, gemstones, and symbols. Three robed men sit in these chairs.
The table fills up and no other sounds in the corridor are made as the silence fills the room. The man in the middle rises from his seat and gestures out to the rest of the room.
“Why have you called us here today?”
A cloaked man at the head of the lesser table stands and clears his throat, clearly nervous.
“Master, there is a disturbance in the world and it is caused by a tyrant who currently occupies a throne. Therefore, we humble servants call upon you to once again spin the threads of fate and upend this scourge against society.”
There is some chattering and whispering among the congregation as the man on the stage makes no expression.
“If it is within our power to do so and this man is indeed unjust and wicked, then it shall be done. Who is this king you speak of?”
The nervous man takes his hood down and speaks again.
“He is a king of a different sort. He doesn’t rule a country. He doesn’t wear an actual crown. But he sits on a seat of power and crushes all those beneath him. His name is Terry Marvin.”
There is some grumble amongst the peasants around the lower table that sounds a great deal like fear. The man on the stage pauses for a few seconds as he turns to look at his counterparts. He then turns back.
“This which you ask of us… cannot be done!”
This causes more of an uproar as most of the peasants stand up now. The nervous guy finds a bit of courage and speaks again.
“But you MUST. He is wicked, and his decisions affect more than just the world revolving his silly sport. They affect social settings, politics, everything that you’re sworn to uphold. It is your DUTY to set this right!”
There is more chittering by the people as the man on the left stands up and with a loud boistering voice says one word that shakes the foundation of the building.
“SILENCE!”
This instantly sends the crowd to their seats except for the nervous man. The man in the middle continues.
“We do not turn you down out of spite. We feel your pain, feel your cause. You are not the first to address this tyrant before us. However, we cannot dissolve him of power because he is beyond our reach.”
“But I don’t understand. YOU are the Kingmakers. You decide fates of countries! How can you not dethrone one small man in an insignificant seat of power? You MADE him king! You can end his reign.”
The Kingmaker scowls.
“You speak of which you don’t understand. Firstly, his seat cannot be insignificant, or you wouldn’t be here today.”
The nervous man bows his head in acceptance of this fact.
“Second, WE did not make him king. He ascended to that throne on his own power. We did not put him there.
And third, we have attempted to install a new ruler, and have failed each time. This is one thread the fates will NOT allow us to sever.”
There is a audible sinking feeling spreading around the room as the nervous man makes one last desperate plea.
“Surely there is another you can send. Please, you’re our only hope.”
The Kingmaker sighs.
“There is another of course. Though the result will be the same. As we speak, our chosen patron is preparing for a battle with your hated king. But as the others have, so too will CJ Gates fail.”
“I have heard of this C.J. Gates. He is a good and honorable man and a fierce warrior. He certainly has the skills it takes to achieve this task.”
The peasants at the table begin to rejoice before the Kingmaker raises his hand calming them down.
“He does indeed. He has all those and then some. However, while it may seem that his heart is pure, that his intentions are true…they are deceiving. He wants to dethrone your king and take his throne, which in of itself is not a bad thing. But he does so out of hatred. And Hatred can’t beat a man like Terry. He thrives on it. He uses that hate against you and becomes more dangerous than ever. Thus, CJ will likely fail.”
“But there’s hope right? There has to be.”
“There is always hope. There is always a chance. But the outcome of this battle will not be determined by us! For centuries, we have determined the rulers of every aspect in this world. Sometimes we have chosen wisely. Other times we have chosen poorly. But this time is beyond our control. We would have NEVER chosen Terry Marvin. And now we are powerless to stop him.”
The peasants look confused as they look to the Kingmaker for an explanation
“Terry is a force like which we have never seen. He came to us of course, asking to be put into power. But we refused, seeing the pure malice in his heart. He took that rejection and refused to accept it. He became what he is out of spite, because we told him he couldn’t! He is outside our realm and that’s what makes him dangerous!
He has rendered us obsolete. WE no longer control the fates of man, and they are left to their own devices.”
Some shivers are visible amongst the congregation.
“Then what happens if CJ fails?”
The Kingmaker scowls at him again.
“IF? There is no if in this equation. WHEN CJ fails, there will be nothing holding Terry back, no other threat. He will be free to do what he pleases, and will produce more hatred from the world.”
“But, isn’t that a good thing? I mean, the more people that hate him, eventually they’ll rise up against him won’t they?”
All three kingmakers laugh now.
“I forgot how little of a grasp you silly mortals have on the true ways this world works.
Hate is the most powerful and dangerous magic that exists. Terry knows this. Somehow he’s discovered it. He has found a way to harness the hate and use it to empower himself. He makes others hate him more and his power continues to grow. The fates can’t control him. His destiny is continuously changing. He has thrown the entire world off balance. Someday soon, he will simply be the end of us all.”
The peasants all seem like they’ve been systematically kicked in the gut!
“So, how does somebody stop him.”
“They can’t. Only he can decide when to stop. Only he can walk away from it all.
Don’t place too much hope on CJ Gates. CJ will fight brilliantly. CJ will give his everything and will do it selflessly. CJ will fight for the greater good, will fight to be a hero. But sometimes there are battles you just cannot win. And sometimes there are evils you just can’t vanquish.
Those times are now!”
There is silence in the hall for sometime as everyone digests what is being said. The Kingmakers, those in charge of keeping order in the ruling class have been stripped of all power. The last hopes of man have just been extinguished.
“Then all hope is lost.”
The nervous man stands up and exits the hall with his head hung in despair. One by one the peasants follow him until only the Kingmakers remain, and the scene fades to darkness.
So this is it?
After all the hype, after all the build up, it comes down to one hour.
60 minutes will determine history. 60 minutes will make or break the destiny of two epic figures.
60 minutes will be the length of the most decisive battle in the history of mankind.
The penultimate battle of GOOD vs. EVIL will take place in one hour!
Don’t think for one second that I’m under any delusions which side I represent. I know I’m the villain in this story, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
And don’t think for one second I don’t see the parodies within this as well Gates. You won the title at Test For the Best. You defended it in brutal matches at One Night in Hell and Christmas Chaos. You entered Rasslmania in one of the most important nights of your life.
Believe me, I get it… history is doomed to repeat itself right Gates? I’m sure that’s what you’re banking on. I’m sure that’s what all the fans are banking on. Just one small problem Gates... I’ve made a living out of disappointing people. This Sunday at Rasslemania will be no different.
I can’t wait to see the faces on all the hopefuls after this match Gates. I can’t wait to see the tears poor down the cheeks of the millions of CJ supporters when I’ve crushed their dreams in the palm of my hand. But one thing has occurred to me.
What if this is my time CJ? Like last year for you, what if this is when it all ends for me. What if I fall victim to the Rasslemania curse like so many other champions in the past? I think about it, and I shudder. It’s a scary thought. Now I know how you felt last year after you FAILED and embarrassed yourself on a grand stage! And I will DIE before I let something like that happen to me.
Still think we’re not that different CJ? You didn’t have the fortitude to do what it takes to defend this title. You let Noble walk all over you and violate you along the way. You didn’t give everything you were, everything you had to hold on to that title. You could have left it all in that ring, gave your dying breath, but you didn’t. Perhaps your life is more important to you than glory…but you won’t find that in me CJ. Life is meaningless unless you give it to something worthwhile!
You like to stand there and call all of my accomplishments a fraud, a scam. You like to downplay everything I’ve done with my career. To me that just sounds like a jealous bitch who can’t come to terms with the fact that I am in fact the GREATEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO WRESTLING! That sounds like a spoiled little brat coming up with every single excuse in the book!
Tell me CJ. What excuse will you use when I beat you fair and square with millions watching? What excuse will you use when you have to look into the faces of all your fans and admit that you couldn’t get the job done?
You’ll have none left to give CJ. You’ll be sitting there dumbfounded wondering where it all went so horribly wrong. The answer is clear as day CJ. It went wrong the SECOND you decided to throw your hat in the corner against mine, instead of backing the winning horse. I gave you a chance… all those many months ago CJ I gave you the chance to be on the RIGHT side. Instead you showed your true SELFISH colors!
Disparage what I’ve done all you want CJ but the proof is right here in this Undisputed title. The proof is in the history books. Years from now, nobody will remember how I accomplished all this, just that I did! And THAT is just a harsh fact that you can’t get through your thick skull CJ! People are judged on WHAT THEY DO and not how pure and precious they are! I simply do what I have to… and that’s why I’m standing on top of the mountain and you’re hanging on the cliff for dear life dreading the second I grind my foot on your fingers and send you plummeting to your death!
I will do everything it takes and not give two shits what these fans think. I will go outside the book if I need to. I will lie cheat and steal to keep this title Gates. That’s just a fact you’re going to have to live with!
Do you get it now CJ, do you understand that whether we’re villains or heroes has no bearing on the ultimate judgment? Of course you don’t. You have that golden rod of morality shoved so far up your ass, you can’t see the big picture.
And that’s it CJ.
That’s the reason I’ll win this Sunday.
That’s the reason I’ll live on in infamy and you’ll simply go on with a bleak existence.
I don’t give TWO SHITS how these people see me. In fact I love their hatred. I love their fear. I eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and it fills me with so much joy that it’s shooting out the tip of my dick hole!
Making them feel like insignificant ants that don’t matter in the scheme of thing is part of why I do this job. Its part of the reason I’m still here. Because I know that when I leave, they’ll have a moment of pure happiness and I simply can’t let that happen. And that’s why I won’t let you be victorious CJ, cause then THEY win. And they have spent so much time letting me know that I’m NOTHING, that I can’t allow that.
See CJ, there is one big similarity between us. We both do what we do for the fans. You try to earn their respect and love. You try to make them proud. I do what I do in spite of them! I conquer every task put in my way SIMPLY because they tell me I can’t, because they tell me I won’t! I use that as my catalyst, and look what it’s done for me so far.
Now, I don’t want you to take this little tirade the wrong way CJ. Don’t think for one second that I don’t see you as a viable threat. I’m not a moron like Biggs and actually have myself tricked into thinking you’re just going to roll over and die. I know what you’re capable of. I’ve seen it firsthand. Hell, I’ve felt it firsthand.
And that’s what makes me better than Biggs, better than Level One. I recognize that talent, that skill. I don’t try to deny it… I don’t try to fight it. I respect it, and expect it! I know that you’re going to bring you’re ‘A’ Game and then some!
I know you’re going to fight with the passion of a thousand burning flames CJ, and that makes me happier than you could ever imagine.
See, when I put out those flames, I’ll know I’m doing it AGAINST your best. When my hand is raised in victory, I’ll know that I destroyed everything you had, everything these fans instilled in you. But what’s more is… YOU’LL know it too!
When all is said and done and the smoke clears, you’ll have to live with one simple fact CJ. That for all your talk, for all your striving for perfection, at the end of the day I am simply the better man! How are you going to handle that CJ? Are you going to self destruct like Noble? Are you going to fade away like Biggs and Level One? OR are you going to curl up in a ball and cry your eyes out.
God, PLEASE let it be the last one and please let me be there to see it.
Nevermind. Just seeing your face when that realization dawns on you will be satisfying enough.
I must say, I love that moment CJ. You know, that moment when somebody who thinks they’re SO MUCH BETTER than me is forced to admit they underestimated me and comes face to face with the fact that I am GOD’S GIFT TO WRESTLING!
MMMM MMMM, it’s so palpable I can taste that moment on my tongue, and I live for that moment CJ!
Because for all your talk, for all your high and mighty attitude, you’re doing the one thing that I’m always accused of. YOU are looking past me CJ.
You are underestimating my talents.
You think that because I use creative methods to win matches, that I surely can’t be nearly as talented as you. You think that because I use EVERY DIRTY TRICK in the book that a fair fight is your level playing ground. But you forget a couple KEY elements Gates.
1. I don’t use these tactics because I HAVE TO… I use them because I WANT TO!
2. I have won just as many matches fairly that I have unfairly... Survive and Conquer as an example. Not a thing I did there was outside the rules.
3. Who said anything about Rasslemania being a fair fight?
Whoops… you forgot to factor logic into your big daydreams of winning gold didn’t you CJ. It’s funny how just because you wear the white hat doesn’t actually make you any smarter.
But… all this is really pointless isn’t it CJ? The time for talking is clearly over. In just over 24 hours, you’re going to have to bring all of your big talk and empty promises to the BIG STAGE! That’s where it really get’s messy for you doesn’t it CJ?
Oh, I’m sorry, you didn’t think your big mouth was simply going to reach out and take this title all by itself did you? As you’ve proven time and time again when Biggs isn’t involved, you’re all talk when it comes to these situations CJ. But talk is cheap!
See, C.J. I know what kind of ride I’m on right now. I know the year I had doesn’t come along every day. I’m relishing in it, and I don’t want it to end.
But it has to end doesn’t it? I’m not gullible, I know that all things come to an end eventually.
But that time won’t be tomorrow night, and it won’t be to you CJ! The Real Show Era is still going strong and I’m no where NEAR finished! I have records to break. I have critics to silence. And that all starts on the Biggest stage of them all.
It’s like you always say right CJ, Time to go big or go home. I always go big. I’ve been going big since January of 2012 when I opened the year with a victory over Level One. I continued going Big when I won the Overdrive titles, when I won Test for the Best, when I made Kurt Noble snap like a little BITCH. I went the BIGGEST I ever have at Survive and Conquer.
Tomorrow Night… does it get any bigger? IT’s the ultimate time to put up or Shut up. But what about you CJ? All your talk about going Big, but you’ve never actually done it have you? You’ve never won at Rasslemania. You’ve never stepped up when all the chips were in the pot have you? What the FUCK do you really know about Going big?
Guess you’ll be going home then.
And you’ll be going home empty handed.
Tomorrow night, the glitz and the glamour come out. And I’ve proven EVERY TIME IVE BEEN ASKED TO, that the spotlight brings out my best.
There’s no spotlight brighter than tomorrows.
One big battle CJ. Are you ready?
60 minutes. Are you ready?
One title. MY TITLE! Are you ready?
When this all goes down CJ, your fantasy land will disappear, and you’ll be forced to GET REAL! Are you ready?
I know I’m ready.
I’ve always been ready.
And I’ll always be ready.
Tomorrow night, for perhaps the most important night of my life, I will once again rise above all expectations.
Cause that’s what I do.
Better than everyone, THAT’S what I do.
Cause I’m the Real Show.
Cause I AM Undisputes.
Cause THIS is my stage.
Turn down the lights.
Turn up the Music.
Role Cameras.
RASSLEMANIA…
IT’S SHOWTIME!!!
Terry looks at his APW Undisputed Championship as he smiles. The hotel suite big enough for 20 people is virtually empty. Terry sits down on the couch next to his title and smiles.

Terry smiles sarcastically.
”No, see, I gave all of that up for you didn’t I?”
He looks at the belt almost expecting a response.

Terry glares into the camera with an intense expression
