We open the scene inside of a bar, nothing stands out in the bar, a billiards table and electronic dartboard occupy the far corner while a full circle bar sits off to the left of the door. We see a large hulking figure leaning over a glass of beer. As we get closer to the large, sulking man, we find it be none other than “The Soul of Philly” TJ. He looks up to take a look at the Phillies game, as Cliff Lee is the midst of throwing an eight-inning gem. As he goes back to his beer, a large hand lands on his shoulder, the lack of a warning makes TJ’s shoulder fall, almost dropping the glass over the bar. Knowing who it is, TJ smiles as he turns around.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Travis. How are you doing?
We see the body that is attached to the hand on TJ’s shoulder. The body is that of Travis Gunners, a former protégé of TJ’s formally known as The Denver Body. Travis, a former inmate for false reasons, hugs TJ who stands up after putting his beer down. Travis sits down next to TJ, matching TJ’s large frame with his own, on the stool next to TJ. TJ looks up at the game as it returns from commercial
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners I’m doing fine Thomas.
Not one for informality, Travis is one of the few who can refer to TJ as his first name. After the bartender takes Travis’ order, he takes a look at the game. Neither of them looking at each other during the conversation.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners So, how are you feeling?
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ I’m feeling alright, got a couple stitches, still a little sore, aside from that, normal.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners Are you sure? You do not look “normal”.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Yeah, I’m sure.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners I may not have the tenure that Roger and Trey have when it comes to friendship, but I do know what “normal” TJ looks like. He does not sulk over his beer. He does not feel “alright” after a big victory on an event the hype, the stature, the reputation of Rasslemania, let alone a victory that defends a title.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Look, Trav, I’m good.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners What is bothering you TJ?
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Nothing.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners Is it a girl? You did not contract an STD did you?
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Nope.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners You did not have to bail Trey out of a Canadian jail did you?
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Thankfully no.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners Then what is it? Did you fall in love with Canada?
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ HELL NO! FUCK THAT PLACE!
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners Then tell me, what is wrong.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ I don’t know how many times I have to tell you, there’s nothing that’s wrong.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners TJ!
In case of emergency, use nicknames. The uncharacteristic action gets TJ’s attention away from the game.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners What. Is. Wrong?
Giving in, TJ sigh before admitting…
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ I just beat Knuckles, Reaver, whatever, and kicked his head off and sent him flying through the air. I hear people saying congrats, you proved you deserve that title, yet, the majority, now a bit smaller, is still saying that I only hold the Tap Out Title because I was the last of the gauntlet. I’ve KO’d Sally Talfourd, retained my title twice now, and proved that I put my money with my mouth is, yet, I’m only hearing bull shit about how I got the title.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners Is that not what you signed up for?
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Yes, but at the same time, I signed up to prove people wrong, and I have.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners Clearly, you haven’t if people are still doubting you.
TJ’s drops that “Wow, brilliant” face, which Travis blows off in favor of a chug of his beer.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ What do you suggest I do then?
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners Isn’t that what you use Keaton for?
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ I don’t “use” Keaton for anything. He ask him for help and he does the same, we help each other the same amount. That’s why we worked well as a team and why we didn’t work well as a team. I helped you more than you helped me.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners Really?
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Is this a jealous thing? Come on Trav, you’re better than this.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners I do not know, I am not the one second guessing his own success.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ I’m not second guessing myself, I’m just looking for a way to shut them up.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners It is a shame you cannot go back in time to change the coin flip, this way you could have beat Jules and then have to beat Keaton at least less people would doubt you.
DING! The figurative light bulb goes off above TJ’s head, as he quickly grabs his wallet in his pocket.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners Well now that that’s solved, what about Asylum?
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ …What about it?
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners Terry Marvin.
TJ’s head pops up, looking at the wall.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners You did not-
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ No, I didn’t.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners Yes, you did.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Alright a little bit.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners You’re gonna lose if you don’t focus on him starting now.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Who said I wasn’t thinking about him.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners No one.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ I’ve been thinking about him since I got here.
The.Denver.Body Travis.Gunners “Here” as in the bar.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ No.
He throws some bills on the bar as gets up.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Since I got to APW.
We fade to black as TJ leaves Travis sitting by himself at the bar.

The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ A year ago, APW began to change, for better and for worse.
We open the scene in an empty hallway. Framed posters line the walls as we see TJ walking down the hallway in jeans and long sleeve shirt.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Rasslemania VII featured amazing matches like Level One vs Sally Talfourd, title fights like CJ Gates vs Kurt Noble vs Johnny Rebel vs Blade, personal feuds like Jason Kash vs Johnny Knuckles, yet the hottest thing, the most talked about match was an I Quit match between Keaton Saint, the established name, taking on the Overdrive Champion, Terry Marvin, a rising star. Rasslemania VII saw the Real Show begin to achieve his potential. Terry Marvin defeated Keaton Saint, in a similar manner in which Julius Farquhar defeated me at Shockwave a couple months later. You see Terry, in case he were to lose, had a ref in his back pocket, and on the biggest show of 2012, The Real Show really showed how far, or low depending how you look at it, to not only keep what was his, the Overdrive Championship, but to also achieve success.
He stops at the Mayhem 2012 poster and stands next to it.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Mayhem 2012 saw rematch between the two, inside steel cage and again, Terry Marvin gained a victory through unorthodox manners. With the help of handcuffs, Terry was able to escape from the cage while Keaton could only watch as Terry taunted him on the way down. Again, Terry Marvin went where he needed to go to beat Keaton Saint. Despite all the doubters and critics saying that he couldn’t beat Keaton Saint once more, he proved them wrong, but those same people began to say that he couldn’t beat him fair and square. Terry heard them, but ignored them as he took his next step…
Now standing next to the Test For the Best 2012 poster, TJ puts his hands in his pockets.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ… to achieving his potential. In one night Terry Marvin went from Overdrive Champion, rising star in APW, to an APW household name. It wasn’t easy, he beat A.C. Smith, who is now the Xtreme Champion. He then proved all those doubters wrong when he beat Keaton Saint while inside of the Keaton Clutch. And as the Overdrive representative, Terry Marvin beat Sally Talfourd in the finals to win the 2012 Test for the Best tournament. In one night, he had defeated three of the best talents that APW has to offer. Overdrive Champion, Test for the Best Winner, what was next for Terry Marvin?
Shockwave 2012 poster.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ THE best that APW has to offer. Terry happened to be the right opponent at the right place at the right time. With his home life in shambles, Kurt Noble did his best to focus on Terry Marvin, but he still lost to Terry Marvin. Terry Marvin in the span of eight months had gone from newest APW Megastar to APW Undisputed Champion, a meteoric rise on Overdrive that didn’t just stop there. One Night In Hell, Terry defeated names like Level One, Chris Hart, Biggs, CJ Gates, and Kurt Noble. At Christmas Chaos, Terry defeated Biggs. Survive and Conquer, Terry Marvin went from the best in APW to the best in the world. Outlasting ninety-nine other wrestlers, Terry Marvin won the 2013 Survive and Conquer match. In one year, Terry Marvin had done everything, minus one thing, that one thing he accomplished at Rasslemania IX, main eventing the event, defending his Undisputed Championship against CJ Gates in a 60 Minute Iron Man Match. Despite being the closest to threaten Terry Marvin, CJ fell to Showtime.
After passing all the posters with all the events mentioned, TJ stops at the end of the hallway with a door that is marked “Not an Exit”.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Following his victory at Rasslemania IX, Terry had done it all on Overdrive, I’d hate to do this, but to quote Drake, he had started from the bottom and now he’s here. Here is where Terry Marvin decided that there was nothing else to gain from Overdrive. Terry Marvin made the choice to go from working every Thursday to working every other Sunday. Tradionalists were in up in arms that the Undisputed Champion was taking the championship to Asylum. Asylum fans were happy to get the Real Show onto the real show. APW management was savoring at all the new hype surrounding not only Asylum, but also Overdrive, because as dominate and as entertaining Terry Marvin was, he was hurting Overdrive. He faced everyone that he would face, people clamored for Terry Marvin vs Level One but like Stefan Raab ever shutting down his Twitter account, it wasn’t going to happen. Terry’s move to Asylum and Michael Callahan’s move to Overdrive, was good for APW. But what Terry saw as an exit in Asylum…
TJ holds his finger up, pausing to turn around to face the door. With simple yet powerful kick in the middle of the door, TJ reveal why the door was labeled “Not an Exit.” The door hid a violent prison riot which TJ walked onto a platform above the riot.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Everyone on Asylum saw as a chance. A chance to prove that the biggest dog on Overdrive wouldn’t be able to survive amongst the violence. A chance to prove that they were on equal leveling as the best Overdrive had to offer. A chance to make a name for themselves.
TJ simply shakes his head at the riot before turning around to us.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Not me. No, what I saw was just another man. A man who had accomplished more in a 15 month span than most do in a career, a man who has earned respect from me, but a man nevertheless. See, I don’t plan on making a name off Terry Marvin. but I plan on making the most of this opportunity. Up to this point, my APW career has seen some great wins. I’ve beaten Julius Farquhar for the APW Tap Out Champion, I’ve beaten Sally Talfourd in her last Asylum match, I beat Reaver at Rasslemania IX, my toughest match to date, but this, this is far more meaningful.
He looks over his shoulder as taunts and insults, slurs and hurtful words are tossed amongst the inmates.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Reaver called me the white knight of Asylum, saying that’s what the people think of me as. When something goes bump in the night, TJ’s ready to spring into action, ready to do battle for the honor of Asylum. See, if that’s true, Terry Marvin isn’t a thing that goes bump in the night. Terry Marvin is the black knight seeking to take over my village. He’s not prepared for that. See if anything, Overdrive did nothing to prepare him for Asylum. No, not because we’re more violent, there’s some violent people on Overdrive, no, Overdrive did nothing to prepare Terry for Asylum because we are far more hungry than Overdrive. The only person to really beat Terry Marvin during his reign was Evan Envi, a man who doesn’t have the history in APW to rest his head on. Someone who is hungry to prove that his name may not be Level One, CJ Gates, or Biggs, but he’s on their level. See, Overdrive was filled with men who were content with their legacies in APW as is. They’d like another title, but if they failed, it was fine because they had several to their name in APW. Asylum isn’t like that. Sally Talfourd is gone. James Chamber is gone. Jason Kash is that all that remains of the old Asylum. Asylum is home to the hungriest of the hungry, home to the most driven of the driven. Each and everyone outside of Jason Kash has jack shit to their name in APW. Yes, we all have accomplishments outside, but APW is the best and we want to prove that we’re the best. Terry Marvin is the best in APW, As of Asylum it will have been two hundred and twenty-four days that he has been Undisputed Champion. That’s longer than anyone who has ever been a champion on Asylum. Terry Marvin is coming to Asylum thinking of himself of as a legend in the making, as God’s Gift to Wrestling, but that’s only in his mind. Everyone else is thinking of Terry Marvin as the standard, the bar, that we all must strive to meet.
As the riot gets taken under control, TJ smiles.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Everyone but me. I am not striving to meet Terry Marvin and the standard he set, but I am striving to make greatness in its truest form the standard for all. I’m not God’s Gift to Wrestling, but I am nightmares in their physical forms. I am definitely not The Real Show, but I am “THE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLL OF PHILLY”.
He turns around to see an empty area, blood and violence leaving the area dirty and mangled. He turns back around, smirking.
The.Soul.Of.Philly TJ Now…it’s showtime.
The light gets cut as we go to black.
