"When we consistently suppress and distrust our intuitive knowingness, looking instead for authority, validation, and approval from others, we give our personal power away." – Shakti Gawain
Bailey felt bittersweet about this weekend’s Asylum. After such a big showing at Rasslemania and recapturing the Tag Team Titles with Jair Hopkins, he felt as if he had hit a slight snag by being pit against his foe Jason Kash. Bailey and Kash had great chemistry inside of the ring so that aspect of the match he didn’t mind because Kash brought out the best in him. The only problem was with Kash’s constant berading of him over social media and acting like he owed him one more bout.
Bailey had long moved on since their epic feud last year but Kash hadn’t and it was quite obvious. But The Promise was never one to back down from a challenge. If this was something that Kash truly desired then he was game for it. Bailey was looking to get even for all of the frustration Kash had caused him and for the many times he made him second guess signing onto his Twitter account because he didn’t feel like dealing with the drama. Though bittersweet, the tag team match would be well worth it after all.
{{The scene opens to the inside of Anthony Bailey’s silver 2013 Acura TL, which has just been pulled over to the side of State Road A1A near Anastasia Road in St. Augustine FL. Bailey is frustrated because he was sort of in a rush, hence the reason why he was most likely pulled over to begin with. Clad in a plain white Dying Breed T-shirt and black basketball shorts, the possibility of a speeding ticket has put a damper on the graceful springtime afternoon here in the Sunshine State as he looks in the rearview mirror at the flashing blue and red lights. Ready to give his full cooperation in hopes of only receiving a slap on the wrist, the camera man who is riding shotgun, pans a little to the left as the officer approaches Bailey’s window.}}
Officer: License and registration please...
{{Not even making eye contact with the officer after his robust request, Bailey leans over towards his glove compartment.}}
Anthony Bailey: Listen sir, I can give an explanation as to why I was traveling a little over the speed limit. I was running a little late for lunch and…
Officer: My goodness. Has it been that long, Mr. Bailey? You don’t even recognize my voice anymore huh?
{{Groping for his vehicle registration among the many papers carelessly stuffed in his glove compartment, Bailey turns back towards his window.}}
Anthony Bailey: ….wait a minute….I know you don’t I? Chief Stark??
{{The officer smiles and slowly removes his aviator sunglasses.}}
Chief Kevin Stark: It’s me in the flesh. How have you been my friend?
{{Bailey exhales as his tension slightly eases.}}
Kevin Stark is the Assistant Chief for the St. Augustine Police Department. Bailey was introduced to him last summer under the unfortunate circumstances involving Jason Kash’s breaking and entering into his home while he was in the bathroom taking a shower. Bailey didn’t want to press charges against Kash, but his ex girlfriend Tasha did and she ended up doing so without Bailey’s consent.
Anthony Bailey: I have been great Chief Stark. I am still staying occupied and traveling with APW. Actually this weekend, I’m heading down to Uruguay for an event so that should be pretty exciting.
Chief Kevin Stark: Uruguay? Oh okay, it makes sense why you were driving like that then I guess...
{{Bailey and Stark both laugh at the sarcasm since you couldn't travel there by car.}}
Anthony Bailey: I truly do apologize. I was heading near the beach to meet up with some friends for lunch and I ended up leaving my house a bit later than expected.
Chief Kevin Stark: I understand how it is. I was once young a long long time ago so I can relate. I’m only going to give you a warning but please be sure to be more careful and a little more mindful of the speed limit when you drive in the future.
Anthony Bailey: Will do sir...
{{Bailey interprets this as Stark’s attempt to wrap things up but Stark jolts Bailey’s expectations and begins to make some small talk.}}
Chief Kevin Stark: So how’s your family doing? It was a pleasure meeting them at the station that day.
"That day" as Stark referred to it was July 4, 2012. Thanks to the antics of Jason Kash, Bailey, his mother, his ex girlfriend, his mentor Frank, and his neighbor Paula Peterson spent some of their Independence Day sheathed inside of the St. Augustine Police Department headquarters working through the break in incident.
Anthony Bailey: My family and friends are all doing wonderful. I spoke with my mother earlier today and my mentor Frank is doing good. He’s busy taking care of his family and running the FAWA over in Jacksonville. My neighbor Paula is doing well I assume. I really only see her in passing whenever I make it home from off of the road. Tasha, my ex? We broke up a few months ago…
Chief Kevin Stark: Oh really? I’m so sorry to hear that. She was such a sweet girl.
Anthony Bailey: Yes she was and still is actually but over time, I guess we just began to drift apart. I think that whole incident from last summer had something to do with it though.
Chief Kevin Stark: You think so?
Anthony Bailey: Potentially. I refused to press charges and she believed that pressing charges was the best option, so that led to some conflict behind closed doors.
Chief Kevin Stark: I see...well, I hope that it all works out for the best. And speaking of last summer, whatever happened to that guy Kash? Is he keeping himself out of trouble these days?
{{A frustrated look appears across Bailey’s face.}}
Anthony Bailey: I really don’t care to keep up with him or what he has going on in his pitiful life, but he certainly goes out of his way to stay in the loop on what’s happening with me and the things I have going on.
Chief Kevin Stark: Well you have the station’s number so if this guy ever decides to show up to your house again or cause you any more trouble, don’t hesitate to call either myself or Chief Lueders.
Loran Lueders is the Chief of Police for the St. Augustine Police Department. He and Stark took the lead on the Kash case together.
Anthony Bailey: Thank you but I don’t think that that will be necessary. Shortly after the incident between us, I taught him a lesson that he’d never forget at an APW pay per view event called Test For The Best. He’ll also actually be one of my opponents in Uruguay this weekend as well.
Chief Kevin Stark: Oh really? Well good luck with that...
{{Chief Stark takes notice of the time as he glances down at his watch and realizes that his small talk with the APW megastar was keeping him from catching all of the bad guys.}}
Well Mr. Bailey, I must carry on and get back to my duties. You be safe out here on these roads okay? It’s been a pleasure chatting with you.
Anthony Bailey: The pleasure is all mine Chief Stark...
{{Bailey and Stark give each other a firm handshake and Stark walks back towards his car. Bailey looks in the rearview mirror to make sure that there isn’t any oncoming traffic and when he sees that he is clear to go, he pulls back onto State Road A1A and continues to head in the same direction he was heading before. The scene artistically fades out and shifts to Bailey, who is standing by his lonesome in the solitude of the St. Augustine beaches. It is still afternoon and he is still wearing the same clothing from before; it’s only a few hours removed from Chief Stark having grace on Bailey and letting him slide without a ticket. With the Atlantic Ocean’s waves pleasantly crashing along the shore in the background, Bailey stares into the camera and slowly begins to speak.}}
Here we are…only a few days shy from the moment that only one individual out of the seven billion people on this planet have been waiting for. Jason Kash finally gets his opportunity at redemption against The Promise this Sunday night on Asylum in Montevideo, Uruguay. I will be teaming up with my good friend and The Dying Breed’s own William D. Williams while Reaver will be in the corner of Kash. Going into Rasslemania, redemption was a word that I purposefully overemphasized. Some called it overkill because they were simply tired of me uttering the word but I call it admonition.
J-Hop and I set out to do what our minds were fixed on. Many had counted us out and believed that it was “over” for us, but we proved otherwise. I’m thankful for the outcome of Rasslemania but it’s aggravating to me that certain individuals have been labeling Asylum as Kash’s opportunity of redemption and mirroring it with mine from a few weeks ago. Jason Kash and I are absolutely nothing alike aside from our passion and drive for the sport of professional wrestling. He’s the manifestation of evil and I’m the archetype of good. He’s the one who likes to take vengeance into his own hands while I’m the one to sit back and allow providence to bring about justice. He’s the bully in the schoolyard making a mockery of the helpless little kid who lacks a plethora of friends and I’m the kid who comes to his defense and sets the bully straight.
So do you see how none of that can be paralleled with one another? Do you see how we are like night and day? That’s why it has been puzzling for me to overhear these things. How can he be the one seeking ransom when he was the one who broke into my house? Some have told me to “Let it go Bailey, that was nearly a year ago.” Grudges aren’t my thing but I cannot let something like that go. Even my partner The Smooth One tells me to be the bigger man and not even respond, but how could I not? The pain and suffering that this man caused me was almost unbearable. The likelihood of him playing a small role in the downfall of my relationship with Tasha also agitates me.
Bailey’s claim was certainly a stretch. There was no evidence of Kash being a component in their split but Bailey loved to blame Kash for all of the depraved occurrences in the world. If an old lady wasn’t able to be helped across the street and ended up getting hit by a car or if a local homeless shelter had a food shortage and weren’t able to feed a good number of lesser fortunate people, then according to Bailey, Kash was somehow or in someway involved.
But this is exactly what he wanted. Schmidt played into his Twitter antics and the cheap subliminal shots about the Asylum ratings dip and rewarded Kash with what he wanted…one more chance against me. His universal quest for validation since our lumberjack match at Test For The Best has been relentless, but little do you know Kash, it is all in vain. Every waking moment of it is in vain. In your mind, you won’t be able to rest until you have the satisfaction of defeating me. You want the fans; myself, Williams, Hopkins, Reaver, Schmidt, Jeff, Obama, Pope Francis, Kim Jong Un, and whoever else is ready and willing to pat you on the back and say “Job well done.” You boast about being a Grand Slam Champion but since you idolize and obsesses over me so much, I truly think that defeating me would be the biggest notch on your belt yet…even bigger than being the Grand Slam Champion of Asylum…
But that notch will not be acquired this Sunday evening in. As much as you love to hate me, I have always been one step ahead of you. Your bashing of my intellect and me not being from the streets but from the suburbs is precisely how I was able to defeat you twice before in singles competition. I’m wittier and more mentally vigorous than you could ever be. It’s not always about who’s the strongest Jason, you should know that. Adding Reaver into the mix will not help. This is a guy who stole another man’s identity and The Dying Breed is somehow supposed to be intimidated? Reaver does not intimidate me, but whether I would leave my credit cards, I.D., and social security number around him is an entirely different story…
I have gone on to live and enjoy my life but you are still stuck in July of 2012. Williams and I are going to hop into a time machine to revisit you and then triumph over you, and then maybe just maybe you will be able to move on. Whatever vendetta you have against me is one sided. I dislike you but not the point where I would be adamant about proving something to you. You just aren’t that big of a deal to me honestly. There was never a reason to want one last match against you because I have already proven who the better man is. Misfortunes with my ex, with M&M, the ratings, or whatever else you choose to poke fun at will not be a factor inside of that ring at Asylum. As we stand face to face for a third time, it’ll be like clockwork when you do what you do best against me Kash…lay on that mat and get defeated like a man, the man that you claim to be…the man who has female tendencies and catches an attitude when things do not go his way.
Almost everyone seeks approval in one way or another. Megastars seek the approval from the fans, the General Manager’s seek approval from the megastars and the television networks, and the list goes on and on. Kash’s problem isn’t that he’s seeking approval, we all do it, his problem is how he’s choosing to seek it. I get it…the top dawg on Asylum had the whole brand in the palm of his hands until a new kid fresh out of college came along and became the top dawg that he once was. And since then, he has vowed to reclaim his position. I don’t agree with how he is going about it with committing crimes or dragging my name through the mud, but everyone can’t see the light as you see it.
The Dying Breed has sought to be that light but until Kash and Reaver decide to humble themselves and surrender, they will forever be transporting along in the dark. I am hoping after this weekend that I am able to use social media more freely and without all of the added stress and taunts. Many know me while others know of me. But just ask Jason Kash or even Reaver and they will tell you exactly who I am…I am Anthony Bailey…APW’s only Promise…the only Promise that can't be broken. This Sunday night we make The Dying Breed and Papa Smooth proud…
