(OOC Note: I am from Massachusetts. And right now, as much as I hate to do it, I really have no other outlet for what I’m feeling and really nothing else on my mind. So I apologize if anyone finds this offensive or exploitive. That was no my intention. I had a different RP planned out, but honestly, really hard to write for Amy Zing with how I feel at the moment. So I apologize for this not being as good as usual.)
::Ordinarily, Amy Zing would be getting ready for a match either watching the ring crew set up and then would go to the locker room to get dressed, read a bit or get something to eat or chat with people, then stretch out. But that is not the case tonight at an Action Packed Wrestling live event.::
::She didn’t watch the ring crew set up the set. She just arrived and went to the locker room and got dressed. The latest books she’s been reading, Stephanie Meyers, The Host, sits unopened on her gym bag, as if she started trying to read it, but couldn’t. She’s at the very least in her ring attire.::
::“The Hong Kong Sensation” is sitting in the corner of the locker room’s floor. As the APW tours South and Central America, her thoughts are back home, in the United States. She has her legs curled against her chest, with her arms crossed over her legs and her head on top. Her unbound hair hangs all over.::
::Her voice is controlled, but on the edge, as if she is trying hard to keep her emotions in check, but is so close to losing that battle.::
“For the first time in a long, long time, I have no idea what to say.”
::She sighs.::
“Overdrive is going to be in Bogotá, Columbia. And we should be out there, seeing the city, interacting with the fans and everything because they’ve made us feel so welcomed. But honestly, my all my thoughts are back home with Boston.”
::Amy lifts her head back.::
“Part of me feels like I should say something about what happened on Monday in Boston. But I find myself conflicted about saying it.”
“It’s not because I don’t care or because I don’t feel anything for it. I spent most of Monday night just watching the news until it honestly just became too much to try and keep handling.”
“Every one of us in Action Packed Wrestling feels for what happened. It doesn’t matter if we are from Boston or Massachusetts or New England or not. It doesn’t matter where we are from. One of the three lives lost was a Chinese National. Something like this connects us, even if for only a moment. Acts of terrorism like this seem to work only in uniting people. It is the worst acts of people that bring out the best in those affected.”
“I remember the first time I ever wrestled in Boston. I remember the crowd was great that night. I also remember that I didn’t win. I came close though, but it wasn’t my night.”
::Her vopice cracks, as if on the verge of breaking. She manages to regain her composure.::
“It’s a great city with a lot of history and a lot to see. But I can’t talk about it because I feel doing so would just be trying to exploit it for my own gain. I hate myself for even mentioning it because it feels like I am doing exactly what I don’t want to do. But, there’s no way I could live with myself if I didn’t tell any fans I have in Boston that my thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope they are alright.”
::She lowers her head, wiping her eyes.::
“Um…anyway…let me…let me try to focus on something else. Yeah…it’s uh…it’s Fan Appreciation Night on Overdrive this week.”
::Amy starts to run her hands through her hair, trying to focus on Overdrive rather than the recent tragedy.::
“Personally, I think a Fan’s Appreciation Night for Thursday Night Overdrive is a great idea. Honestly, I wish I thought of it myself. And I know I should be the most excited about this, or at least one of the most excited that our fans are having this night, but I am finding it hard to get excited about anything these past few days.”
“But this is not about me. It is about what the fans want to see. It about their choices, the matches they want to see. At Overdrive, they pick the opponent for Level One. They pick the opponent for Delikado. And finally, they will pick the referee for the Champion triple threat.”
“They can select either Nathaniel Havok, Buckson Gooch, Mark Mania or myself to take on Level One. The fans can vote for Shadow, Dan White or John Rebel to face Delikado. And maybe the big one, they get to choose the referee for the triple threat match pitting all the champions on Overdrive against each other. They can pick Level One AND Delikado, Buckson Gooch or Nathaniel Havok to referee World Heavyweight Champion Michael Callahan versus Xtreme Champion “the Big Apple Asskicker” AC Smith versus Overdrive Champion Evan Envi. It is the fans’ night.”
::She takes a deep breath, trying to keep herself calm and focused. This was not from her usual rambling and more trying keep her train of thought and focus on Overdrive.::
“So I suppose that this is the point when I tell them that they should vote for me to face Level One over Nathaniel Havok, Buckson Gooch and Mark Mania.”
::She allows herself to smile a bit.::
“To be honest, it is rather hard to justify why my fans should select me.”
“I want them to. I really do. I know my fans support me and that there will be votes for me. At least I hope they will vote for me. Maybe not in overwhelming numbers, but I’d like to get a few votes. I’d hate to not get any. That’d be depressing.”
“I think it would be awesome to step into the ring and take on Level One. If I manage to pull off a victory, I’d have beaten a one of the two challengers for the World Heavyweight Championship. A victory over him would maybe get me closer to someday challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship myself. Even if I lose, I have a shot to take him to his limit and make an impression.”
::Amy lets out a heavy sigh.::
“But the hard part I find myself having to face is trying to justify why they should vote. My last three victories have not exactly been huge victories. Actually, they weren’t victories at all. They were losses. In the last month, I have lost to Robina Hood, Michael Lively and Buckson Gooch. While there’s nothing really wrong with those loses, though the one to Lively was rather unpleasant, I would rather not be in something of a losing streak. It does make it rather hard to justify why I am on Overdrive, let alone in Action Packed Wrestling. I’m just saying.”
“So yes, I do hope my fans will vote for me and that I will be the one selected to face Level One. However, I can easily see it being Buckson, Mania or Havok. That’s not saying I don’t have a chance to be voted in. I think I do. But Buckson, Mania and Havok will probably get more votes than me and one of them will win the chance to face Level One.”
“So maybe I get voted to face Level One and maybe I don’t. Sooner or later, our paths may cross. Maybe we wrestle on day. Maybe we don’t. Either way, I choose not to worry about it. If the fans want Amy Zing versus Level One, then then will vote for Amy Zing versus Level One.”
::Amy leans her head back and smiles, imagining the idea of her facing Level One at Overdrive.::
“However, if they do not want it, then I join the others who were not chosen in a battle royal. At that point, it is not about the choice of the fans, but the winner’s choice. If I win that battle royal, I get a match with anyone I want.”
“If I win, and I will admit that is a big “if”, but if I win, I can choose my opponent. I could choose to face the World Heavyweight Champion after Mayhem. I could pick AC Smith or Evan Envi, just to see how I fair against the brother. As is my understanding, I can pick anyone I want. That is actually a pretty big decision to make.”
“I am pretty sure most people, if not everyone in such a situation, would choose to face the World Heavyweight Champion. After all, why not try you luck against the best in Action Packed Wrestling? Why not try to jump to the head of the line by taking on the champion? A win would probably make you number one contender. Maybe if I pick the World Champion, I could actually get a title shot. Although, I am not totally sure if winning this battle royal and selecting a champion would automatically make it a championship match. I am pretty sure though that victory means I can select anyone at all in Action Packed Wrestling.”
::She runs a hand over her hair and smiles a bit. She looks ahead, to the opposite corner of the room.::
“ Honestly, I’d be lying if I hadn’t given it some thought as to who I would want to face.”
“Truth be told, I have already decided who the one person I want to step into the ring with if I am in the battle royal and if I somehow manage to win the match. I even know when I want it. I may as well tell you and ruin the surprise.”
::Amy gets up off the floor, brushing herself off and moving to her gym bag. She pulls out the ribbon she used for her hair, holding it.::
“The when would be ay our next pay-per-view Mayhem. The who would be Robina Hood.”
“The way I look at it, we are tied one-one. I don’t know about Robina, but something like that makes me want to see what would happen if we had a third match. It would just the two of us, in the ring one more time to see who can win that third match. ”
“It would have nothing to do with Sienna Harrison. I wouldn’t be about her trying to impress Sienna, protect her or trying to redeem herself to Sienna. I wouldn’t be about me trying to beat Robina to get a match with Sienna Harrison. It would just be us, her and I, in the ring to settle that one-one tie.”
“But maybe she doesn’t want the tie-breaker match.”
::She shrugs again.::
“However, personally, I do. And if I win the battle royal, I get any opponent I want. So hopefully, means “anyone” and not just anyone off the Overdrive roster. If that is the case, then, yes, I’ll probably pick whoever is the World Heavyweight Champion after Mayhem, be it Michael Callahan, Delikado or Level One, which may happen at Overdrive anyway.”
::She looks down at the ribbon in her hand. Her fingers gripe it tightly in her hand.::
“This week, Overdrive comes to Bogotá and I want to give them, and all my fans, especially those back home, everything I have. Whether it is against Level One or in the battle royal, I want to show the world why I am simply Amy Zing. This one is all about the fans and I will give them the best I have. Win, lose or draw, this one is for them.”
::She turns and moves back to the corner she was sitting in earlier and then looks up towards the ceiling. She closes her eyes.::
“More than any other night, this one is for all our fans.”
::With a heavy sigh, Amy slumps down in the corner again.::
“That’s what I would love to say, but to be honest, I am finding it so hard right now to be here when all I want is be home with my family at a time like this. I just can’t bring myself to be my usual cheery, upbeat self right now. I mean I know I wasn’t there, I didn’t lose any friends or family, but things like that make me feel sad.”
::She sighs again, frustrated and upset with herself.::
“Listen to me. I sound like I’m trying to make it sound all about me. It’s not. I just…I don’t know…just not feeling myself. I’d love nothing more than to go to that ring at Overdrive, show why I am Amy Zing and win that battle royal. But right now, I don’t see it happening. As much as I love what I do, right now it is hard to put my head and my heart into it with what’s happened.”
::She leans her head back against the corner wall. She is trying to keep herself calm and collected.::
“I know what I have to do, and I want to do it. I have to go to that ring and try my best to win this week. But making myself do it is easier said than done. Still for my fans, for anyone who voted for me tonight, and for those in Boston, I will try.”
::She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, her usual method for calming herself. She exhales slowly.::
“For them, I will try.”
::The scene fades out on Amy Zing, sitting in the corner, trying to keep herself calm and collected, breathing in deeply and exhaling slowly.::
