::Too say it was a busy week for “the Hong Kong Sesnation” Amy Zing would be an understatement. As soon as Overdrive was over, she was out of the arena and on a redeye back home to San Francisco, California.::
::She had a few things to do over the weekend before heading back to Venezuela for Thursday Night Overdrive.::
::As soon as she touched down Friday and got her luggage, she made it a point to call her family and friends as she headed back to her apartment. After a short nap and a light breakfast it was some house work and laundry before dinner and a goodnight’s sleep.::
________________________________________________________
::Saturday morning: 11a.m.::
::It could be any hospital in San Francisco and odds are at some point in time during any given month, Amy Zing will be there. She is not there for her own medical needs, nor is she there to visit family. No. She is here for the children.::
::At least once a month, Amy Zing volunteers part of her weekend to entertain children a local hospital. Sometimes it is a story about her travels as a wrestler, other times it is a book. Today, though, it is music, which is something Amy enjoys very much. Most trips come with an autograph or two for someone, which is why she often carries a pen and small note pad with her everywhere she goes.::
::The children range from little to young in age. Each is wearing a hospital gown. They range in medical conditions, some with portable IVs, some with portable respirator systems, and a little girl with a bandana on her head. Some are accompanied by their parents. They seem happy to see “the Hong Kong Sensation”.::
::The room she is in appears to be some sort of small common room with toys, books and crayons. There are three round tables, a toy box and sofa. The room is carpeted.::
::Amy sits in a chair holding an acoustic guitar, with the children and parents either on the couch, or in chairs or on the floor. She is dressed in a pair of jeans shoes and an APW t-shirt. She adjusts her position to better hold the instrument and starts to play. She looks up from the guitar for a moment, looking at the children gathered around.::
“You guys want to hear some songs today?”
::The kids and some parents yell out “yeah!”.”
“Well alright.”
::She starts to play a song that is better played on a banjo, but as she can’t play one, she will have to make do. She does have a very nice singing voice, which helps make this not be a total disaster.::
“This is a song that a very wise frog once sang.”
“Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see
Some day we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers, and me”
“Who said that every wish would be heard
And answered when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that
And someone believed it
And look what it's done so far”
“What's so amazing
That keeps us stargazing?
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers, and me”
“All of us under its spell, we know
That it's probably magic”
“Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name
Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors?
The voice might be one in the same”
“I've heard it too many times to ignore it
It's something that I'm supposed to be”
“Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me”
“La da da de do do
La da da da da de do dooo”
::She stops playing. The children and parents clap. Amy smiles.::
“You want one more?”
::Several of the parents along with their kids again answer positively. Amy repositions the guitar again and starts to play another song.::
“Well okay. This is another favorite of mine, sung by…well I am not exactly sure what sang it, but I still like it.”
“This looks familiar, vaguely familiar,
Almost unreal, yet, it's too soon to feel yet.
Close to my soul, and yet so far away.
I'm going to go back there someday.”
“Sun rises, night falls, sometimes the sky calls.
Is that a song there, and do I belong there?
I've never been there, but I know the way.
I'm going to go back there someday.”
“Come and go with me, it's more fun to share,
We'll both be completely at home in midair.
We're flyin', not walkin', on featherless wings.
We can hold onto love like invisible strings.”
“There's not a word yet for old friends who've just met.
Part heaven, part space, or have I found my place?
You can just visit, but I plan to stay.
I'm going to go back there someday.
I'm going to go back there someday.”
::She smiles as she stops playing. The children and parents clap as the scene fades out.::

::Sunday afternoon: 12p.m.::
::It is a nice day out. The Red Cross has set up a blood drive at several local community centers within San Francisco. Given recent tragedies in Texas, Massachusetts, as well as strange and destructive weather in the midwest and southern United States as well as other general medical needs, the Red Cross needs blood. Today’s event will run from 10a.m. to 4p.m.::
::This event has a celebrity appearing. Amy Zing is dressed today in a pair of jeans, nice shoes and sleeveless shirt. She has signed a few autographs and posed for pictures with several fans. Now she is sitting in a chair, trying not to look at the medic cleaning a spot on her arm before she has blood taken.::
::She doesn’t watch as the needle goes in and the blood is taken. It doesn’t long, but she still does not want to watch. It doesn’t last too long before the needle is removed and Amy receives a bandage, a cookie and orange juice.::
::She exits and briefly speaks to a local reporter, who is covering the blood drive for a fluff piece on the evening news.::
“Well this is a great cause and the US blood supply is not exactly that large, so every drop helps. Plus, I got a cookie, and that’s always good.”
::She smiles as the scene fades to black.::

::On Sunday night, Amy caught a late night flight out from San Francisco, California to Caracas, Venezuela. She managed to get a bit of sleep on the plane before it landed in South America.::
::After renting a car, she checked into her hotel, dropped her bags off and grabbed a quick bite. Once all that was done, she was out the door for promotional work for Thursday Night Overdrive. She’s done radio and television appearances, autograph signings and other appearances.::
::Now, it is Wednesday night. The moon is high in the sky over the city. A few clouds move through the air on the starry night. Music drifts in from somewhere within the city streets.::
::Sitting at the pool, watching the moonlight sparkle off the clear water is Amy Zing. Finally with a moment to herself, away from the promotional work or other obligations, Amy should be relaxing. However, as she enters on of the biggest matches of her short career, relaxing is the furthest thing from her mind.::
::Dressed in a pair of sandals, t-shirt and shorts, she is seated in a beach chair, but sitting upright, with her hands pressed together and over her mouth, she seems as if she is lost in thought.::
“I was looking at the card for Overdrive and right next to our match, in parentheses, was the words “Lady Overdrive”. Now I have no idea what that means to be perfectly honest, but it seems fitting. Right now, I am the only woman wrestler on Overdrive and they tell me I am the first woman to wrestle on this show in over a year. It’s kind of funny, but until someone told me that, I don’t think I ever realized I am the only women wrestler on Overdrive. Just kind of weird really when you think about it.”
::She drops her hands.::
“Right now, Evan Envi and I are on the same page. Both of us are wondering the same thing. We are both wondering what exactly I did to earn this title shot, because honestly I have no idea.”
“I mean when you look at it, there’s very little reason I should be getting this shot. Prior to last week, I had been on a losing streak for like a month. I lost at Rasslemania, which was disappointing. Then I lost to Robina Hood, which was not exactly how I wanted to leave Monday Night Meltdown. I lost my first Thursday Night Overdrive match to Michael Lively, which had that mix of being disappointing and a bit humiliating and then I lost to Buckson Gooch.”
::Amy pauses for a moment, as if caught by a sudden thought.::
“Well, I can live with the loss to Buckson Gooch. I mean he’s a good guy and a great competitor and there was no shame in losing to a guy who hits like a truck. When they told me Buckson was a big and strong guy, they were not kidding. He’s a solid catch-as-catch-can type wrestler. That is a guy who can use his size and his power. Still, there is no shame in losing to a guy like that. I think it really sucks that Knoxville turned on him, because I liked Goochville as a team. It’s always unfortunate when a tag team breaks apart.”
::Amy catches herself as she starts to ramble. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She exhales slowly. She opens her eyes. She slumps back in the beach chair. She drapes her left arm over her forehead as she looks up at the sky.::
“As I was saying, it is not exactly as if I had been climbing the ladder with a series of stunning victory. Part of me thinks I am simply getting the title shot because you’ve run out of challengers, but I doubt that’s the case. Thought it makes sense, but I doubt it because I’m not sure if you’ve beaten everyone on Overdrive.”
“I’d love to say I can beat you, Evan, because I beat your sister, but that makes no sense. It makes no sense because Sienna hasn’t been in the ring for a long time and you have. Besides, the “I beat the guy who trained you, so I can beat you” or the “I beat the guy who beat you, so I can beat you” arguments never made sense to me for a few reasons.”
::Amy closes her eyes to stop herself from rambling. She sits up in the beach chair as she opens her eyes.::
“I have always found you to be arrogant, to the point of cocky. There’s no real way to deny that is a trait of yours. Now, I was in American Championship Wrestling when you made your return there after a few months off. I remember my first impression of you was thinking you were sort of like a lot of talk. Then I saw you in the ring.”
“You are a talker Evan. Yet at the same time, you can back up most of, if not all of, the things you say when you step between the ropes. What’s that old saying? I think it’s something about walking the walk and talking the talk, but I really don’t know the exact wording. Well that is you.”
“Yes, you are arrogant. However, at the same time, it is not without merit. There is no way to deny that you have the talent, ability and charisma and that it has, without a doubt, made you a star not only here in Action Packed Wrestling, but elsewhere. You have all the tools, and not an ounce of humility to temper any of it, but it works for you.”
::Amy slides her fingers through her long hair, letting them slip through her hair, which slowly cascades against her back.::
“I have no doubt that you are already looking forward to Mayhem and the match you have with Buckson Gooch. And really, who would blame you? Who would honestly doubt that you could beat me and then go out to meet Buckson at Mayhem? Since you won the Overdrive Championship, you’ve been virtually untouchable. The odds have to be in your favor.”
::“The Hong Kong Sensation smiles and shakes her head.::
“Well, I am sorry to burst your bubble Evan, but I have no intention of going down without a fight. You may have a match at Mayhem with Buckson Gooch, but personally, I am hoping to make your match with Buckson a non-title or maybe make it into a triple threat match if I mange to beat you for the Overdrive Championship and you and Buckson challenge me, or make it just myself and Buckson for the Overdrive Championship.”
::Amy pauses again, as if in thought.::
“That is an odd name for a championship, isn’t it? I mean there’s no Meltdown Championship or an Asylum Championship. Why is there an Overdrive Championship? The name doesn’t really make much sense to me. Still, I suppose there were no other name ideas for the title, and Overdrive is the flagship show. Just seems odd to me. Regardless, I definitely want to win it this week.”
::The former Playboy covergirl crosses her legs and drops her hands in her lap.::
“You’ve been to the top of the mountain Evan. You’ve won championships before. I have never been a champion. I came close a few times in my career. Several of my North American Championship title matches on Meltdown were not without interference, but I am not going to complain. I am just going to hope that doesn’t happen here. I really can’t imagine who would interfere in our match tomorrow. But hey, surprises happen.”
“Right now, I think it is safe to say that everyone will be very surprised if I can somehow pull off the victory and become the new Overdrive Champion. I win and it would have be considered a major upset when you consider neither of us really understand how I even got the title shot in the first place.”
::Amy looks up towards the sky. The moonlight on water casts a glimmering light on her skin.::
“The odds Evan are in your favor. You’ve been on a tremendous roll for the last several weeks. Last week, you managed to beat the Xtreme Champion AC Smith and World Heavyweight Champion Michael Callahan. You are on top of world. Sooner or later, you will more than likely be challenging for the World Championship. For all intent and purposes, at this moment, you are king of the hill.”
“There is probably not a single person in the locker room or employed by the APW, or writing for any of the many wrestling magazines and websites out there that thinks, that honestly believes, I can do the seemingly impossible and knock you the hill. But you know what Evan? On any given night, anyone can get the victory over anyone and upsets happen.”
::She lowers her head and looks towards the camera.::
“Every single one of my fans believes that I can beat you. When Overdrive airs and our match begins, there will be thousands inside the arena, and millions watching at home. Among that number will be my fans and they will cheer me as they do every single time I get into the ring. Each of them believes that I can beat you to win the Overdrive Championship. More importantly, I believe that I can beat you. I fully believe that I can go out to that ring, kick your head off and become the new Overdrive Champion.”
“I have no illusions that I will just walk into the match, amaze you with my offense, confound you with my defense and defeat you soundly. I have already said you are a great competitor from what I’ve seen you do, maybe even on of the best in Action Packed Wrestling. I believe I can beat you. The difficulty, however, is actually going out to the ring and doing it.”
::She sighs.::
“I know you are not going to make it easy for me in that ring. Can’t imagine your sister Sienna has been quiet, knowing that you’re facing me. She’s probably hoping you injure me or beat me so badly that I leave. Then again, she does have issues of her own on with the Guv’Nor, but I’m sure she’d love you to avenge her loss to me from a few weeks ago.”
::Sliding her legs out from under her, Amy gets up off the beach chair and stands up. She again looks at the camera.::
“I could go on about the Mandate of Heaven and all that, but it seems whenever I do, the outcome is usually not what I hope for. You don't need any extra help getting the odds in your favor for this match."
"Right now, Evan, the odds may be in your favor. Yet I have never really been one to care about the odds. I am coming to Overdrive, and I will leave it all in the ring. I will give everything I have to try and win my first championship ever by becoming the new Overdrive Champion right here in Venezuela. Win, lose or draw, Evan, I’m going to go out to that ring to show you, the world and every one in the arena for Overdrive tomorrow why I am simply Amy Zing.”
::The scene slowly fades to black at the shot of Amy looking towards the camera, with a confident and determined look on her face.::
::She had a few things to do over the weekend before heading back to Venezuela for Thursday Night Overdrive.::
::As soon as she touched down Friday and got her luggage, she made it a point to call her family and friends as she headed back to her apartment. After a short nap and a light breakfast it was some house work and laundry before dinner and a goodnight’s sleep.::
