"Everything's not going to go perfect. You're going to have some losses that you're going to have to bounce back from and some things that are a little unforeseen that you're going to have to deal with." – Tony Dungy
{{The scene opens to the inside of the Pérgula Restaurant located in the Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Anthony Bailey is spotted sitting at a table by himself sipping on a cup of coffee. Clad in a plain black T-shirt and black sweat pants, Bailey appears to look over the breakfast menu. Since the hour is early and the sun is just beginning to peak over the horizon, it is assumed that Jair Hopkins and William D. Williams are still asleep in their rooms after an epic night at Mayhem. Bailey arose beforehand to not only beat the crowd and partake of some first class Brazilian cuisine, but to also reflect on the aftermath of the previous night in solitude. As he continues to flip through the menu, a beautiful young waitress with long dark hair makes her way over to his table smiling.}}
Waitress: Good morning sir.
Bailey was relieved that she was bilingual since he didn’t understand one word of Portuguese.
Anthony Bailey: Good morning ma’am, how are you doing today?
{{Bailey flirtatiously smiles at her.}}
Waitress: Apparently a lot better than you...
{{She giggles as the carnage from Bailey’s match with Jason Kash the previous night has impeded his physical appeal in the form of two band-aids and some minor swelling.}}
Anthony Bailey: Yeah….I had a pretty rough night as you can see.
{{Bailey laughs right along with her.}}
Waitress: Not here I’m hoping. We here at the Copacabana Palace Hotel pride ourselves in superb customer service and safety for each one of our guests.
Anthony Bailey: Oh no, it wasn’t here. It’s just the line of work that I’m in, that’s all.
Waitress: And what line of work would that be?
Anthony Bailey: Professional wrestling.
{{She doesn’t look intrigued.}}
Waitress: I hope they pay well.
Anthony Bailey: Oh…they do...
{{Bailey flashes his signature smile.}}
Waitress: So you enjoyed your stay here last night?
Anthony Bailey: Did I? To my knowledge, this is the best hotel in the city!
Waitress: Glad to hear that, sir. If I can be of any assistance and help ease any of last night’s mishaps for you, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Anthony Bailey: Why thank you. For now, I’ll settle with some more coffee. And when you come back, I should be ready to order.
Waitress: More coffee coming right up...
{{She walks in the opposite direction smiling. Shortly after, Jair Hopkins and William D. Williams walk into the restaurant looking like they both just woke up. Bailey spots them standing at the entrance scouring the edifice and he motions for them to come over and join him. It was easy to find Bailey inside of the large five star hotel since the Pérgula was the only restaurant that served breakfast. As they approach the table, Bailey rises from his chair to greet them both before they take their seats.}}
Williams: Good morning Champ! How are you feeling?
Anthony Bailey: I’m feeling good man. I’m a little sore but at least my dignity is still in tact. That’s all that matters huh?
{{They all laugh simultaneously before Bailey resumes.}}
What about you? Disappointed that you didn’t walk away being crowned the new Tap Out Champion?
Williams: Well it’s not really about titles with me. I am just upset that Mannie couldn’t get the job done himself. How could you possibly call yourself The Main Attraction and you can’t even cleanly put away a rookie like me?
{{Bailey and Hopkins nod their heads in agreement with Williams’ statement.}}
J-Hop: I understand bro. That whole Reaver incident blind sided me as well…
Mayhem did not go according to plan for any members of The Dying Breed but the three megastars were never ones to wallow in their own guilt or regret. They were always aware of regrouping at an essential moment like this and the moral support of one another made that much easier.
Anthony Bailey: Yeah…last night was…interesting if that is the proper word to describe it.
J-Hop: Interesting indeed.
Anthony Bailey: Are you guys all packed for Santiago?
Williams: Not yet but I didn’t bring that much stuff with me anyway so it shouldn’t take me that long to get everything together.
J-Hop: How long is the flight?
Anthony Bailey: The itinerary says that it’s right under four hours and the flight departs at noon so we have some time.
J-Hop: Oh okay. So, you ready for tonight bro? Do you think that you will be able to physically manage after all you went through with Kash and Rob?
Bailey was still amazed over how he had been greatly wronged by his childhood friend, Rob. That’s what made him hesitant of Kash’s gesture of respect after their match. Could he truly come to respect someone that did what he did?
Anthony Bailey: Oh yes, I am more than ready. I have been waiting for this moment and death itself couldn’t keep me from this match or going out there and giving one hundred and ten percent.
Bailey knew the weight of tonight’s Tag Team Title match against M&M. Despite the great buildup that went into his and Kash’s year long feud culmination match at Mayhem, a little piece of Bailey wanted to get his hands on AJP a bit more. Bailey disliked Kash but AJP? He wouldn’t even long to spit on her if she caught on fire.
J-Hop: That’s the spirit…
Williams: Yes! That’s what I like to hear. Long live Dying Breed…
{{The waitress returns to the table with a fresh piping hot pot of coffee and begins to pour a new cup for Bailey.}}
Waitress: Got some company I see.
Anthony Bailey: Yes I do. These are my friends William…
{{Bailey points at Williams as The Smooth One smiles and winks at her.}}
Williams: It’s my pleasure to meet you my dear.
Anthony Bailey: And this right here is Jair…
{{Bailey points to Hopkins as he greets her.}}
J-Hop: Good morning. It’s nice to meet you. What is your name?
{{The small print on her nametag wasn’t that noticeable.}}
Waitress: I’m Juliana and it’s really nice to meet all of you. Would you all like some coffee as well?
Williams: Sure.
J-Hop: Yes, I can go for some.
{{Juliana pours Williams and Hopkins some coffee. The creamer and sugar are available on the table so they help themselves to a few packets of each. Juliana turns to Bailey.}}
Juliana: What will you be having to eat this morning, sir?
Anthony Bailey: I think I’m going to have….some eggs, toast, pão de queijo…
Pão de queijo is a small baked cheese flavored roll, which is a popular breakfast food in Brazil.
Cornbread, tapioca, and a cup of mate tea.
Williams: Hungry huh Champ?
Anthony Bailey: Well that and because I don’t know what to expect with the food in Chile, I’m trying to get full for now.
Williams: Makes sense.
Juliana: Will you gentlemen be ordering anything?
J-Hop: Might as well. I’ll take whatever Ant just ordered.
Williams: Same here but could you add some papaya to my order? Oh and instead of the mate tea, I’ll take some orange juice.
Juliana: You got it. Your food will be right up.
{{Juliana once again walks off in the opposite direction.}}
Anthony Bailey: Look at you becoming a fan of papaya for breakfast.
{{Williams laughs.}}
Williams: Well we’ve been in Brazil quite a few times the past two months so I’m beginning to learn to the ropes.
J-Hop: Little by little right?
Williams: You got that right my dude.
{{Juliana comes back holding one cup of orange juice and two cups of tea.}}
Juliana: Here are your drinks gentlemen. Your food will be ready shortly.
Anthony Bailey: Thank you.
{{Juliana disappears once again as Bailey grabs his tea and holds it in the air.}}
To us…and not only to a successful day but a successful future. May the adversity that we face together not tear us down but build us up and equip us to become bigger and better in the future. To The Dying Breed…
{{The scene shifts from the three men toasting to Copacabana Beach. Bailey is alone and strolling along the beach shore. Anthony Bailey: M&M's true colors were revealed at Mayhem when they aligned with the Undisputed Champion Terry Marvin and The Sindicate. I admit, Jason Kash got the best of me at the pay per view but there's a first time for everything, correct? Even though he had to stoop to new depths and get my former best friend involved, he got the job done. And that little sign of respect at the end threw me off guard. I don’t know if it’s another one of his little mind games or not, but if it isn’t, then the respect is reciprocated. I might have lost a match, one of the hardest fought matches of my entire career so far, but I gained peace of mind. And a clear head is what I need for tonight at the Meltdown Super Show. Now that the whole beef with Kash is done, I'm free to go about my day to day life and carry on with other matters.
I went out there and gave it my all at Mayhem so there's nothing to be ashamed of on my end. But M&M, the new lackies of The Sindicate? You are the ones that should be ashamed of yourselves. For far too long The Sindicate have masqueraded around here as being the harbingers of justice but have truly been about their own reprobate agenda all along. And the ironic thing is that they have aided in dragging The Dying Breed's name through the mud during this murky process. Young, innocent Dying Breed…just some men trying to live their lives and accomplish their dreams have been falsely demonized over and over again.
We have been labeled hoodlums and slanderers on numerous occasions but M&M's new commander in chief Terry Marvin bamboozles the entire APW with his whole "retirement" fiasco and it’s validated? Who's the liar now? My issue from the jump has been how AJP and Logan Alexander have propagated lies upon lies against myself and Hopkins. But tonight in Santiago, Chile all that has been wrongly arranged, mainly the image of the APW Tag Team Champions, will be ransomed. This is bigger than these titles around our waists that you covet so dearly AJP and Alexander and this is bigger than proving what team is "better," this is about justice being served as cliché as that might sound.
In M&M's deceived pea brain minds, they are their own authority. They possess absolute power and now, especially with them joining The Sindicate, that imposition has increased to the umpteenth degree. But as the popular saying goes "absolute power corrupts absolutely" and before further deterioration occurs, Hopkins and I will serve you the defeat that you've been asking for. Not to boost our pride or our win/loss record, but to put you in your rightful places. It's about time that you not only learn some manners but that you also learn that you aren’t King Louis XIV of France, who was also known as the “Sun King,” and that the world does not revolve around you. It never has and it never will.
AJP, Terry Marvin tweeted last night that you deserved the Academy Award for what you did at Mayhem. I wanted to respond saying that you deserved a Razzie instead…
A Golden Raspberry Award, or Razzie for short, is the antithesis of an Academy Award as it is an award presented in recognition of the worst in film.
But for once, I agree with Mr. Undisputed. You do deserve an Academy Award Aubrey…not only for what you carried out at Mayhem but for your entire life. Your entire twenty-five years of life has been one big act and the curtain call takes place during the main event tonight as The Dying Breed retain the Tag Team Titles. Oh and happy birthday by the way…
Bailey would’ve been better off keeping his sarcastic comment about Aubrey’s date of birth to himself. The lack of genuineness in it could have even been seen by Stevie Wonder.
This isn’t a final curtain call though. After we tango in the ring tonight, you will go on to deceive the nations like the devil that you are. And you will probably go on to marry Talon and live happily ever after, if that’s what wickedly depraved people like you do, but this will be our final curtain call. Tonight all of this back and forth funny business between us must cease. Whatever unjust ill will you have towards Jair and I should be relinquished after the winner has been decided, but if you crave to continue harboring hatred towards us that’s your own prerogative. And don’t think for one second that that leaves you off the hook Logan. I have spent most of my time addressing Aubrey directly but who does she regard as her mentor? Who was the one that likely caused her once straight narrow path to become crooked? The culprit was probably you Mr. Alexander.
Congratulations on the Tap Out Title win last night by the way. If you pride yourself on APW history the way you pride yourself on tearing me and my partner down, that was the very same title that helped me gain footing around here and in the wrestling world in general. I admonish you to cherish it and focus on that title because that could be the very instrument that allows you to escape the shadow of Aubrey. Lay aside your aspirations of regaining the Tag Titles because those aspirations are getting crushed before your very eyes right here in South America. Riddle me this Logan…how did the mentor ever become like a second class citizen in that relationship anyway? That puzzles me.
There’s no line that I won’t cross? This puzzles me as well because I’d like to know what lines? You and AJP scribbled out whatever line existed when you decided to play dirty with The Dying Breed. I can’t cross a line that is non existent thanks to you all. You have done nothing to rationalize me declaring you a villain? What do you consider “nothing”? Why even bring it up? I know why…it’s because only the guilty get offended. My main issue has always been with AJP because she is the one that I usually interact with via social media but your audacious remarks just screams guilt. Not only guilty by association but guilty down to your innermost being. Everything about you is unscrupulous especially your claims of being a true hero. What have you ever saved in your entire life?
Go ahead…I’ll afford you the time because I’d love to hear you out. This should be good. And I only claim to be a hero because that was the very mission that I set out for fifteen months ago. I think I have been pretty consistent in upholding my ideas and what I value. You and AJP went wrong somewhere. Even Kash went wrong somewhere, but me? I have remained true and loyal to the fans, to APW, and to myself. Your partner likes to constantly point out the two flaws that I have in relation to Sally Talfourd and Phil Atken. If I was even a fraction of the liar that she says I was, wouldn’t my rap sheet be filled with flaws that she was able to refer to? But no, she brings up situations that have been dealt with and resolved. But M&M’s rap sheet on the other hand is a different story. You tricking the fans into thinking you were against Terry Marvin when you were for him, Logan spearing Jair and trying to physically harm him outside of the ring, Aubrey attacking each one of us and injuring us “against” her will, Aubrey kissing me to steal a win when I was going through the emotional ruckus with my ex…should I even continue?
{{Bailey stops in his tracks and coldly glares into the camera.}}
We all know who has been misleading the masses and causing them to go astray and it hasn’t be The Dying Breed. It’s been M&M. Reverse psychology only works on the ignorant and misinformed but we are far from that. Yes, we have some flaws that could stain our image and yes, we have some losses under our belts but none of that will matter tonight. What will matter is how The Dying Breed will once again rise to the occasion against all odds. Pills can’t sever us. Broken relationships can’t demolish us. Injuries can’t make us stay down. And tonight in Chile, M&M will regret every single syllable of slander that they uttered against Jair and I. AJP will regret every time that she took to Twitter to throw my name under the bus. So go ahead and pull the plug on that little birthday celebration or Sindicate shindig you all have probably been planning for weeks because that gala is bound to become a pity party after Jair Hopkins and “The Promise” Anthony Bailey leave South America with the Tag Titles packed away in our luggage. Aubrey J. Parker…Logan Alexander…I am Anthony Bailey…APW’s only Promise…the only Promise that can't be broken. The Dying Breed will prevail over M&M come Hell or high water. Until tonight in Santiago…
