If there is one thing that can be said of Connor Murphy and Gabriel Krown, the two second generation wrestlers that comprise the tag team Sang Réal, it is that they know how to dress well.
The two are usually always wearing suits and ties, either two or three piece suits. It is only when they are in the ring that they wear anything other than suits. When in the ring, they wrestling attire of black tights with a blood drop, DAN double helix and either a four leaf clover or crow, depending on whose tights they are. Even if is one of those “come as you are” street fights which often sees wrestlers wearing jeans and t-shirts or such, they wear their wrestling attire as opposed to risk damaging a suit in such a match. Those types of matches, or before they go to the ring are the only times Murphy and Krown have been seen in t-shirts.
So, with all that in mind, it should be no surprise that Connor Murphy and Gabriel Krown are in a men’s clothing store. This however, is not a Men’s Warehouse or anything like that. No, this place is clearly privately owned. The walls are wood, with suit jackets hanging up on racks. There are full suits hanging up. Pants are folded and sitting on small tables. Shirts are folded and are resting in what look like cabinets without doors. Shoes are set up on wooden shelves along one of the walls. There are ties, neatly folded and placed on display on a wooden table. The shirts are in various colors as are the ties. The suits tend to be navy blue, dark blue, dark grey, light grey, medium grey, grey, and black, which are basic colors of nice suits. The shoes are either brown, light brown, dark brown or black, which tend to be the only color people find for dress shoes. The socks are only available in black or navy blue. There are black and brown leather belts hanging up.
Along the store are a few chairs to sit in. These are wooden chairs with cushions, but still looking very nice and fit in perfectly with the wooden paneling along the walls. More importantly are the mirrors. Tucked in a corner is a small pedestal in front of five mirrors standing at least nine feet tall. Customers stand on the small pedestal and can look into the mirrors and see how well the suit fits or if it needs to be tailored. Near the mirror wall, along that same wall actually, is a small shoeshine stand where a customer can get the shoes they purchase shined.
The store has a very professional, yet family owned feel to it. This place has a level class and elegance that comes from people who know their craft and try to be the best at it without it being a corporation or just a paycheck to the people there.
It is this kind of a shop, not some corporate, brand name store like Men’s Warehouse or Macy’s or any of those, that Connor Murphy and Gabriel Krown purchase their suits from.
Connor Murphy is standing on the pedestal looking into the mirrors. He is wearing a three piece black suit with a white shirt and a dark black. A short, elderly Italian man with thinning white hair, a nice face and goatee, who is wearing black pants, a black silk vest and a red shirt with blue stripes, kneels next to him, inspecting the suit. The old man has pins between his lips, holding them in place with his teeth. He is adjusting the helm line of Murphy’s pants.
Over at the shoeshine stand, Gabriel Krown is wearing a three piece navy blue suit with a black tie. He folds the paper as a young dark haired boy wearing black pants and a dark blue shirt shines his shoes. Krown folds the newspaper he was reading.
Murphy: “Now a lot of people were wondering why we were unable to be in Argentina last week for Monday Night Meltdown.”
Krown: “Aside from the fact that Argentina basically functions as a Nazi retirement community, I had a family thing and was not about to miss it.”
Murphy: “Family is important to us. It defines who we are. After all, we are following in the footsteps of our families be being wrestlers.”
Krown: “Although we are doing it with a much better sense of fashion and style.”
Murphy: “That is part of the reason why we come to this shop and not some place like Men’s Warehouse or Macy’s or such. Vito here came to the US in 1903 and started working as a tailor and his family has followed in those footsteps. Family is a big thing to us.”
Vito, the Italian man working on Murphy’s pants, doesn’t seem to be listening. He keeps his attention on the task at hand. Like a surgeon, he has steady hands from years of practice at his trade.
Krown: “Unlike Warren Peace, who doesn’t seem to care about his family at all. After all, his mom lives in squalor like white trash despite her son making a decent paycheck and he hates his dad.”
Murphy: “That is part of the reason why we did what we did to him in the ring a few weeks ago. The man has no appreciation for family. He has no respect for them. The Ten Commandments states “honor thy father and mother”. It is the fourth commandment.”
Krown: “You don’t have to like them. No where in the book does it say you have to like them, just honor them. Warren Peace did not. Now sure, everyone has issues with a parent or both their parents. We have great relationships with our dads. Sure we wish they were around more when we were growing up, but it came with the job. They were there when they could be, and that counts for something. If we didn’t get along with them, we wouldn’t be wrestlers.”
Murphy: “The other reason we did it was because Warren Peace has no respect for this business. Wrestling is in the man’s blood and he had no respect for it. Now I get he has daddy issues. However, he entered this business with the goals of ruining his father’s career at any cost and took down more than one company to do so. As far as we are concerned, if you are going to step into this ring, you had damn well better respect it.”
Krown: “Say what you will about us. You can say we are arrogant, which we are. You can accuse of being young and good looking, which is also true. You can accuse of being sexist and disrespectful out our opponents, which is very, very true. I mean we can’t deny those things. However, you can never accuse us of disrespecting wrestling. That is something that we will never do.”
Murphy: “Now people were surprised that two wrestlers who pride themselves on being second generation wrestlers and refer to themselves as pureblooded would take out another second generation wrestler. They may see it as hypocritical or something like that.”
Krown: “Can’t imagine why. This isn’t Harry Potter and we are not Death Eaters. We’re not going to sit here and regret shedding second generation blood like it was some huge waste, especially Warren Peace’s blood. We respect this business too much to let someone who does not respect it stick around, even if he was born into it.”
Murphy: “Yanzel Holmes does not respect wrestling. To him, it is just a way to make money. He failed as a cop. He quit boxing because he wasn’t making enough money. So he thinks he can just step into a wrestling ring and make a lot of cash?”
Krown: “The paycheck isn’t bad once you get out of high school gyms, state fairs and the like. But that is the road you have to take. You are nothing unless you cut your teeth in the minors. We’re recognized names in wrestling and even we started in gyms, wrestling in front of less than 100 people for maybe $50.”
Murphy: “It is the fact that Yanzel Holmes seems to have no respect for this business that bothers us the most. To him, this is just a job, just about making money.”
Krown: “We were born into wrestling. This is our life. This is what we were born to do.”
Murphy: “We proved that when we debuted and beat Yanzel Holmes and Warren Peace. We proved it when we beat the hell out of Warren Peace two weeks ago. We are going to prove it again when we beat Yanzel Holmes and his new partner of the week, Shadow. I fail to see how changing partners will change the results.”
Krown: “We don’t care if your partner is a genetically modified hedgehog with rocket shoes and issues of never getting over the loss of some human girl who was his friend.”
Murphy: “Wrong Shadow.”
Krown: “Fine. We don’t care if Yanzel has teamed with the adopted daughter of April O’Neil and Casey Jones. It doesn’t matter if her mom was trained in the martial arts and dad is a vigilante. We don’t care.”
The kid shining Krown’s shoes stops and looks up at the second generation wrestler.
Shoeshine Boy: “They had a kid? That wasn’t in the cartoon.”
Krown: “It was in the old comics, back in the 80s and early 90s.”
The kid nods in understanding.
Shoeshine Boy: “Ah, okay.”
The boy goes back to polishing Krown’s shoes.
Murphy adjusts the cuffs on his jacket, checking the sleeve length. He shakes his head, then turns to glance at Krown.
Murphy: “Rather obscure reference, but still the wrong Shadow.”
Krown: “Okay then. We don’t care that Yanzel’s partner gained mental powers during a trip to East Asian and now knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men as he fights crime with a group of allies he had previously saved.”
The former ACW Specialist and Tag Team Champion shakes his head. At his feet, Vito keeps at his work, hemming trying to get the pants just right.
Murphy: “Once again, that is the wrong Shadow.”
Krown: “Really?”
Murphy: “Yes.”
Krown: “Then who are we facing? Is it that Shadow guy from the Overdrive roster?”
Murphy: “Yes. Yes, it is.”
The heir of the Krown wrestling dynasty leans his head back and sighs, a bit frustrated.
Krown: “Damn. Why couldn’t it have been a fictional character? Is that really so hard to get? I don’t think it’s asking for much.”
He leans his head forward, looking down at his shoes and nods in approval of their shine. He gets up and tips the boy. Slipping his wallet back into his jacket, he goes over towards his partner, then turns and looks at the ties.
Murphy: “Shadow is a great wrestler for not having it in his blood. He has done a lot in Action Packed Wrestling and still seems to want more. However, I really doubt that as good as Shadow is, he can carry the dead weight of Yanzel Holmes. Holmes wants to make it to the top, but fails to put in the effort to get there every single time.”
Krown: “That’s not something we approve of. So, we’re going to have to beat the hell out of him and Shadow at Meltdown in a no holds barred match. That suits us okay though, I mean everyone saw what we did to Warren peace. We have no trouble doing it to Yanzel Holmes and Shadow. We definitely have no problems with doing the same thing to Yanzel.”
Murphy nods as he checks out the suit he is wearing from the side profile.
Murphy: “You see, this week is less about a victory and more about making an impression. As of last week, the Dying Breed and M&M seemed to settle their issues and M&M pretty much lost the ability to be a tag team. That means the Dying Breed needs new number one contenders.”
Krown sorts through the ties, looking at a few in different colors. He holds up a blue tie and a black tie.
Krown: “Seeing as how M&M isn’t going to be able to challenge the Dying Breed any time soon, it does stand to reason that someone would have to step up and do so. As much as no one wants to admit it, it should be us.”
Vito has moved to the jacket of Murphy’s suit, checking the length of the sleeves. Murphy holds his left arm out for Vito.
Murphy: “We are the hottest young tag team in Action Packed Wrestling today. We are the team everyone is talking about.”
Krown: “We have the look, the style, the class and the bloodline to be the next APW Tag Team Champions. I mean check out this store and the suits we wear. These are not just generic store made suits. These are quality pieces of clothing. They say clothes make the man and we look like champions. We conduct ourselves as champions. And we have the pedigree of champions in our blood. That is why we should be the number one contenders to the ACW Tag Team Championships.”
The second generation wrestler of Irish ancestry, Murphy, lowers his arm and raises the other one. Vito begins work on the other sleeve.
Murphy: “What is more, is the fact that we are the only real tag team in Action Packed Wrestling. Nearly ever team in the ACW is comprised of two singles wrestlers and the ones that believe they are tag teams cannot even decide on an entrance theme. Now yes, we both have moves that we favor to put an opponent away with, but we use those mostly for when we find ourselves competing in singles matches. When you look at Sang Réal, you see two second generation wrestlers determined to prove that they are the best tag team in the ACW.”
Krown: “And some of these names. Most of them make no sense. I mean there was never an Old Dynasty, was there? So how could there be a New Dynasty? Or do they like sounding like they are named for a Chinese restaurant? Or, another example would be the Trust. What kind of name is that? Is it referring to money or the trust they have as partners? And there is Unforgiven. Unforgiven for what? Iron Nightmare is a guy and his girlfriend trying to be tougher than they really are. Envikado isn’t a word or a tag team as they have barely had any tag team matches since the tournament a few months ago. Most of the other teams haven’t done anything either as of late. We are a legitimate tag team.”
Murphy: “Same entrance music, same entrance video, similar tights and one goal of becoming ACW Tag Team Champion and proving we are the best team in the ACW and thus, adding to the legacies of the Krown and Murphy wrestling dynasties. We do not say we are Sang Réal just to remind everyone of our blood status or to remind them of our team name. We do it for both reasons actually.”
Krown: “It makes us better than both Shadow and Yanzel Holmes because we are born and bred champions in the making. Wrestling is in our blood and those titles are our birthrights.”
Murphy: “We have no doubt that Sienna Harrison, as wise as she is beautiful, will name us number one contenders for the APW Tag Team Championship this week on Monday Night Meltdown. However, beating Shadow and possibly breaking Yanzel Holmes would only help solidify our claim of being number one contenders.”
Krown: “This is not our first street fight or no holds barred match we’re ever had and it won’t be the last. Connor here can brawl with the best of them and I am a technician, which means on my worst day, I can beat a brawler like Shadow and a guy with basic skills like Yanzel Holmes.”
Vito finishes with Murphy’s sleeve and then marks the spots he has placed pins into with a piece of chalk. He carefully removes the pins.
Murphy slips the jacket off and hands it to the old Italian tailor. He steps down from the pedestal and adjusts his shirt again as Vito walks off with the jacket.
Murphy: “Now I realize we were supposed to face Shadow in a handicap match this past week. However, given that he is teaming with Yanzel Holmes, this upcoming no holds barred match is still a handicap match.”
Krown moves towards the pedestal to see how his how he looks in his suit. He poses a bit as Murphy moves to the side.
Krown: “They are outclassed and out matched.”
Murphy: “At Monday Night Meltdown, we are going to prove, just as we do every week why we are the best team in the APW.”
Krown: “And why we should be the next to face the Dying Breed for the championships.”
Murphy: “That’s Murphy’s Law.”
Krown: “That’s Checkmate.”
Murphy: “We are Sang Réal.”
Krown: “And we were just born better.”
The scene fades to black as Vito returns to start working on Krown’s suit.
The two are usually always wearing suits and ties, either two or three piece suits. It is only when they are in the ring that they wear anything other than suits.
