The last time that we saw our brave hero, he stepped into the wrestling ring with two opponents. He was unable to complete his task of complete and total victory of his foes, but all was not lost. He was able to get a closer look at the supervillain known as "The Red Scorpion". Now armed with the knowledge gained by his first interactions with the red menace our hero is inside his headquarters with his faithful friend, and sidekick Peter Eastman. Can they formulate a plan well enough to stop the Red Scorpion before he strikes again?
Panel one: We see the bat cave, well designed with computers built into the walls of the caped crusaders dwelling. His suits, gadgets and cars are all illuminated by large lights, and glass casings. We pan out and reveal that the image was merely a poster on the wall.
Panel Two: Danny Green and his friend Peter Eastman are sitting on computer chairs with laptops at their helm. They are in Danny's bedroom. It is messy and unkempt, A small flat screen tv is connected to an xbox. Beyond that the room is filled with boxes and stands with comics and graphic novels.
Panel Three: Peter is chuckling under his breath. Danny looks over at him inquisitively. \
(Danny)>What's so funny?
(Peter)> Oh nothing, dude. You probably won't laugh.
(Danny)> Why? What are you watching? We are supposed to be doing research.
(Peter)> Oh yeah, well I mean I was doing research, in fact I am just going over some of the footage from last weeks show.
(Danny)> Meltdown footage?
(Peter)> Yeah dude.
(Danny)> Are you laughing at the jet pack?
(Peter)> Uh yeah? Pretty weird how he had a jet pack right? Like, he has to have some serious dough or something. Like a wrestling addicted Bruce Wayne.
(Danny)> Here, we thought he lived with his mother or something.
(Peter)> You live with your mother, and you're a superhero. Kind of. More like some jackass with a super suit and death wish.
(Danny)>Right, so we have surmise that, this guy has some kind of family wealth, is an evil genius of mad scientist level proportions or, has stolen a small fortune.
(Peter)> Maybe we can try and get a pic of him without the mask on.
(Danny)>Highly doubtful, like myself he probably shows up already in gear.
(Peter)> Maybe you could find an opportunity to unamsk him in the ring.
(Danny)> That would be the best bet, but he probably has some sort of extra strap to keep it on his face. An evil genius would have already foreseen the possibility.
(Peter)> True.
(Danny)> I myself have a safety net of sorts for similar circumstances.
Panel four: Danny rubs his temples. Eyes closed so tight that the wrinkles on his face look like a bulldogs.
(Danny)> I need a break.
(Peter)>Totally, dude. My brain is fried. If we can't get a shot of him unmasked, the next best thing would be trying to get accounting records. I mean Action Packed Wrestling are paying him, and I doubt Red Scorpion is the name on the checks and accounting records.
(Danny)> That's a good idea. Lets come back to that. I definitely need to clear my head for a bit.
(Peter)> OK, cool so what you wanna play Halo? You know what I am feeling a bit old school at the moment. How about hooking up the N64 and dueling in some Goldeneye?
Panel Five: Danny grabs his suit from out of his closet and begins slipping it on over his clothes.
Panel Six: He pulls his boots and gloves on and then clips his utility belt around his waist.
(Peter)>Oh. We are doing that?
(Danny)> Yeah, you mind plugging into the police scanners and blue toothing?
(Peter)> Of course, I mean that's what side kicks do.
(Danny)> really, what's that tone about?
(Peter)> No tone.
(Danny)> Ok, well I am just saying if there is an issue, let's squash it.
(Peter)> No issue man. Run off into the night great hero.
Panel Six: Danny removes his glasses and pulls the cotton mask over his face and straps it.
Panel Seven: He slips out of his window. Peter is connecting to the local police scanners and plugs the blue tooth device into his ear.
MEANWHILE at the Stacey residence.
Panel eight: Stacey has just showered. She is has put on her night clothes and is trying to rest. There is a family picture on a the night stand next to her bed. She stares at it with tears in her eye.
Splash Panel: A knock on the bedroom door.
Panel Nine: The door creaks open and her father pokes his head in.
(father)> How are you doing peanut?
(Stacey)> I'm ok daddy.
Panel Ten: He stumbles into the room. Now, it;s clear that he is drunk. Stacey rolls her eyes.
{Drunk again...}
(Stacey)> Are you ok?
(Father)> Yeah, yeah absolutely. Why wouldn't I be princess?
{Have you smelled your breath lately}
(Stacey)> You seem a little out of it is all.
(Father)> Out of it? no no no...Had a stop at the legion on my way home from work is all. Y'know how it is now.
{She's been dead for six months dad, you're drinking has become a problem}
(Stacey)> Oh Ok, well glad that you're ok then.
Panel eleven: He stares at he blankly, nearly on the floor.
(Father) I saw the tickets on the kitchen table. What's that about?
(Stacey)> Oh, Danny somehow has been getting me tickets for APW Meltdown. We are all doing road trips following the shows.
(Father)> Like the greatful dead.
(Stacey) Yeah daddy, I guess. Whatever that is.
(Father)> Well, I am going to bed.
(Stacey)> Ok, night daddy.
(Father)> Night kiddo.
Panel twelve: He stumbles out of the room accidentally slamming it shut.
Panel Thirteen: She hears a knock on her window and opens the curtain to find Danny waiting for her on the other side. She opens the door.
(Stacey)> Hey, What are you doing out there?
(Danny)> Couldn't sleep. Figured I would take a walk and clear my head.
(Stacey)> You're lucky I was awake then, come on in.
Panel Fourteen: He jumps into the room. He is carrying a bag around his neck. A small part of his suit is hanging out of the zipper.
(Stacey)> What's in the bag?
Panel Fifteen: His eyes widen when he realizes his suit almost fell out. He stuffs the bag again in a hurry and zips it up.
(Danny)> Just a sweater, in case I got cold during the walk.
(Stacey)> Ok, that was pretty random and weird. So what's up, why do you have to clear your head?
Panel Sixteen: She sits down on her bed and her eyes trail back to the picture of her family. She wipes the tears away from her eyes.
(Danny)> Nothing to really fret about I guess. You know how Peter and I get.
(Stacey)> Comic stuff then?
{If you only knew}
(Danny)> Basically...But what about you? You seem bothered? You ok?
(Stacey)>Yeah, just thinking about my mom. And my dad's worrying me lately.
(Danny)> Well, I'm sure he is pulling through the best that he can. He just needs some time.
(Stacey)> I hope you're right.
(Danny)> I'ms sure things will get a little calmer soon enough....Did you get the tickets?
(Stacey)> yeah I did actually. Thanks. So you gonna tell me how it is you keep getting them?
{Another secret, another lie}
(Danny)> Peter know's a guy, who knows a guy.
(Stacey)> Oh hacker buddies. Well it's been helpful. All the time I have been spending with you. It's been doing very good for me. Even when Peter is around haha.
(Danny)> Lol...
(Stacey)> I just want you to know how much I really do appreciate your friendship.
Splash Panel: She leaps over to Danny and wraps her arms around his neck. Pulling him into a tight hug.
{Tell her you love you}
(Danny)> Of course, Stacey. You're my best friend. Don't tell Peter I said that of course.
(Stacey)> He might get jealous? haha.
(Danny)> He might kick you in the shins.
Panel seventeen: Danny's eyebrows raise at the sound of Peters voice speaking into their blue tooth device.
(Peter)> Oh fearless leader. I just thought you would like to know that there was just a robbery on 34th and 8th. Where are you at?
(Danny)> Hey, sorry, I have to run.
(Stacey)> really? What's with the sudden urgency?
(Danny)> I forgot I left the oven on. My love of frozen pizza. It's a curse sometimes. See ya later ok?
Panel Eighteen: He leaps out of the window and takes off down the road.
Panel Nineteen: He hides in the bushes and puts his super suit on again.
(Peter)> Do you copy?
(Danny)> Yeah, yeah.
(Peter)> What were you doing?
(Danny)> Talking to Stacey dude.
(Peter)> Oh, a real crime fighter you are.
(Danny)> Whatever Yoda, what are the co ordinates?
(Peter)> Suspect last seen on foot heading down elm street. White jeans and red t shirt. Suspect robbed a convenience store. May be armed Danny. Keep a cool head.
(Danny)> I am not far from there.
Panel Twenty: He leaps over a few fences, trips over a rubber hose, ducks under a sing set and slams through some bushes and is on elm street.
Panel Twenty two: IN the distance, under a dim street light the silhouette of the perpetrator is seen. He runs around the flank and leaps. He grabs his prey by the toes tripping him. They both hit the pavement hard.
Panel twenty three: They are both kneeling, staring at each other. The suspect pulls out a knife and throws his arm forward in a stabbing motion.
Panel Twenty Four: The Emerald Assassin kicks the knife out of the perps hands and throws a punch, that is defected.
Panel Twenty five: The perp kicks EA in the stomach and elbows him in the back.
Panel Twenty Six: The Emerald Assassin leaps forward headbutting the perp in the gut and then throws his head up smashing him in the face.
Splash Panel: Emerald Assassin leaps into the air, spinning around and kicking him in the skull.
Panel Twenty Seven: The perp hits the pavement and doesn't move. The lights of police cruisers are seen over the bushes.
(Peter)> You may wanna get out of there asap cops are on the scene.
Panel twenty eight: EA runs into the bushes, removes the super suit and heads back down the alley toward home.
Back at home, soon after.
Panel twenty nine: Danny crawls back into his window, Peter closes his window on the laptop; comicbookmovie.com.
(Peter)> That was a close one huh.
(Danny)> Yeah, it was. I we need to focus on a system to alert me sooner.
(Peter)> We need to focus on a strategy a way to defeat the Red Scorpion.
(Danny)> Yeah, I know. Don't worry. I am gonna defeat him.
(Peter)> How can you be so sure, we barely know anything about him.
(Danny)> Because in a a world so dark, and evil. There has to be a victory in store for the good guys. We are due for a big break. The good guys have to win. That's how it goes. Evil will be punished. The Red Scorpion can bring his jet pack and his other gadgets. Last week was a fluke and I am going to make up for it. I am going to win one for us. For Stacey, for every tortured soul made victim by evil. The Emerald Assassin will strike much harder that The Red Scorpion can even fathom. And of course I won't be able to do it without your help so get cracking on those accounting records, and find me a weakness.
Can our heroes save the day from the menacing Red Scorpion? Or will they once again fall victim to his venomous assault? Find out this Monday, on Meltdown.
