LGBT community praises Anthony Bailey for speaking out against Jerry Matthews
ST. AUGUSTINE, FL. — In an unforeseen turn of events, the LGBT community celebrated the comments of APW megastar Anthony Bailey, a professing Christian, as he came to the defense of his colleague London Carter against APW newcomer “The Evangelist” Jerry Matthews.
Bailey took to his Twitter on May 28th and compared the conservative and controversial evangelist’s comments about Carter’s lifestyle to that of Westboro Baptist Church, an American unaffiliated Baptist church located in Topeka, Kansas that is known for its extreme ideologies, especially those against gay people. Bailey was surprised that his opinion caused such an unambiguous stir.
"Honestly, I was just speaking my mind. I’ve been quite vocal about my religious upbringing in the past and though I personally might not agree with Carter’s lifestyle, I definitely think that Matthews was out of line for his remarks about homosexuals. People like him and Westboro Baptist Church are so passionate about the Bible but seem to constantly skip over the passage 1 Corinthians 13:1. If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. Matthews is nothing but a clanging cymbal preaching fire and brimstone that lacks grace and compassion," says Bailey.
Bailey was open to the idea of a possible sit down talk with Jerry Matthews in the near future so that he could become more understanding of his hate filled agenda, but only if it was beneficial to both parties and if Bailey himself also got to share his opinion and worldview.
The staff of APW and representatives of London Carter or Jerry Matthews could not be reached for comment at this time.
