Three times... THREE FUCKING TIMES in the past month and a half I've bought DVDs from Walmart and had them not work. Okay, that's a lie, they'll work, but then freeze up for like 4 minutes in the middle of a movie. It's really fucking aggravating.
At least Walmart is really good on their return policy, and I've been able to exchange everything, but it's such a pain in the ass. Especially when the Walmart I go to to do the exchange doesn't have what I want, so I have to drive across town and go to the other one.
And then, I have to get home and watch all the DVDs again to make sure they work. Again, I don't mind watching stuff more than once (hence why i get DVDs), but it's just really fucking annoying.
Three DVDs in a row... Season 8 of the Simpsons (two disks locked up); Ghostbusters 1&2 (2 freezed up at the start), and now the first 3 Saw Movies. This time I'm not going to bother replacing Saw... the movies aren't even that great anyways, and I'll probably just hold off for a couple years, wait for all the movies to come out, and buy whatever kind of box set they release.
Anyways, I'm done buying DVDs from Walmart...

That does not sound like the DVDs.
How old is your DVD player that is a laser issue. I had the same issue a few years ago. It turned out to be the DVD player's laser and not the DVDs. The laser was slowly dying. Yet on some of my older DVDs I did not have a problem until the DVD player finally died.
Walmart sells the same DVDs that Target does or Best Buy, etc.
Matt, I am telling you it is your DVD player and not the DVDs.

I thought that too, but I've bought DVDs elsewhere and they work. And it'll be one DVD out of a three or 4 DVD set that won't work, and I can see that they have scratches on them.
I really don't think Walmart is selling shoddy DVDs, I think it's just a really bad coincidence. Perhaps my DVD player is getting faulty, as with Saw I couldn't see a flaw on the disc... but I tried the other ones in my girlfriend's laptop and they fucked up in the same spot.

It probably does, but Jeff and I live in (okay, I live in a small college town down the highway, but it's where I work and predominately shop) a pretty small city that is slowly getting more and more big name chains. I doubt Target'll try to get in, since there's already two Walmarts...
Follow-Up: Wikipedia tells me that there are no Targets outside of the States. Go figure...

I buy dvds at best buy. They have all the shit I'm interested in and usually make up their own "deals" where they just like tape 2 dvds together and then add 5 dollars to the original price. I bought "Fist of Legend" and it came with "Shanghai Express" for an extra 4 dollars.

I don't think there is a difference between Walmart DVD's and anywhere else, they are all published through the same company. If there is an issue with the DVD's I would check and see if they are made through the same publisher. Like, see if all the movies are through Lionsgate or wherever else. Awhile ago my sister was trying to find a good copy of a Veggietales movie, lol, and every spot she got the movie at, the movie always froze at the same part, no matter where she got it from.
