My Wife and I won passes to the advance screening on Wednesday in Winnipeg.

I'm a big Superman fan and had very very high expectations going into this movie.

The first thing I want to comment on: Whoever it was that said the trailers show nothing... is 100% correct. They show absolutely nothing.

I did not expect the way it started. To see Krypton, was amazing. Truly amazing. Even my wife commented on how she was blown away by it.

One of the things that made me the happiest, is that Superman wears the suit for 80% of the movie. Maybe more. Henry is Superman the way Hugh is Wolverine. It's the absolute perfect casting.

The acting was incredibly well done and very dramatic. Zod and Superman both have moments where the acting is absolutely academy worthy.

The special effects are the best I've ever seen. The flying.. oh my GOD the flying. It was incredible and often.

There is one scene (not a spoiler) where Superman is flat on his stomach on the ground, then slowly levitates up and fly's forward like a rocket, all in one motion. It was incredible. No idea how they shot that.

There is easily more action in this movie then in all 3 Batmans, Avengers and Iron Man movies combined. I'm not exaggerating. The SmallVille fight scene is better then you can imagine. But the Zod/Superman showdowns are fantastic.

There is one scene in particular that stood out. I can't give details. It's a "shocking" moment. I actually teared up. The climax of the moment, the acting, the music, everything of the moment.. it was incredible. Nearly everyone in the audience let out either a scream or a loud gasp.

Going back for a moment.. The first time we see Superman AS Superman.. is the single greatest moment in comic book movie history. Everything about it.. just screamed THIS IS SUPERMAN. THIS IS THE ONE. THIS IS HIM!

I will probably get crap for saying this but.. the "young" Clark Kent's were so perfectly cast.. they resembled Tom Welling of Smallville and glimpses of Henry. It was insane how it worked out that way. They EASILY and I mean EASILY could have used footage of Tom Welling back in Smallville and it would have been a perfect fit. I was half expecting a cameo for a moment.

Henry many times resembled Tom and Christopher Reeves. It was pretty awesome how that worked out.

All and all, I loved it. It was in 3D and it was perfectly fine in 3D despite some reports.

I will be seeing it again in 2D tomorrow.

Easily 5/5 STARS

Side notes: Lois is perfectly fine (although I wish she had black hair). A few easter eggs, but not so much the ones being claimed. At least, I didn't see the ones being claimed.

I downloaded it...But I've NEVER been a Superman fan, something about his Powers just made me feel it was cheating. Like Hulk kind of, cool but ehh I prefer Batman. STILL I was LOVING this movie! First I agreed to watched it because both his "Fathers" played Robin Hood which totally fucking rocks! I'm a big Kevin Costner fan, not sure people's issue with him. Even his busts were good solid movies. Waterworld STILL one of my favorites.

I agree though him not being all suited up was nice, it showed the build of the man he wanted to become not just rush into the man everyone knows him for being. My issue was with Kevin Costner's death. If someone I loved just stood there...I won't spoil it but I was annoyed, what a dick move from Super dude.

fuck this movie....

hollywood screwed another 1 up an its not the fact that russel crows sux, he's totally awesome and the opening scene made perfect sense. its the fact that too many small tid bits irked me.

1. louis lane knows superman b4 he works at daily planet?

2. how mahy people knew his identity?

3. him understanding his heritage too soon? i call bs....

4. im just so sick of "other peoples remakes of their interpretation" of a classic. if u wanna remake it? keep it to the original story, not wat u THINK it should be.

wat i liked is how they made him more of a man than a god. they showed his flaws. but him crying like a bitch after killing zod? too much. 1-5

[The Smooth One]

I enjoyed it but I thought that this Superman was modeled after the success of the Dark Knight series by making him dark and brooding. I think the movie cool have been more charming and witty, but ultimately what makes a good superhero movie is the villain and Zod was excellent. They lose a full star because the Mr. Smith vs. Neo finally. 4 stars

This isn't based on the original comic book it's based on "Birthright" which had it's different version of the Superman mythos.... BTW Superman is a molly sue character he has no weakness barely dies only died once and came back all willy nilly. That's why people don't like him also that's why his movies are hit or miss. I like most superman villians but Lex Luthor is iffy. Man Of Steel Two supposedly has Superman and Batman fighting first and then teaming up to stop so big bad... Hopefully it'll be Brainiac or maybe have a Batman villian teaming up with a Superman villian. Idk should be good though. I liked Man Of Steel, it was everything you wanted in a modern Superman movie. I wanted it to be dark hell cause the light hearted super hero movies are iffy. I mean Avengers did it well cause the clash of characters. But, Clark Kess, is sort of square-ish at times.... Hopefully in the sequel Bruce can do some insults like in the comics. It's funny how both of them banged Lana Lang, then in the comic they were joking about who she liked more. Though I think they are doing this to make money instead of building up the Justice League movie the right way... DC characters are hit and miss... I do hope we'll get a Teen Titans movie one day

I just think our movie/show interests are different..haha. I think the movie gave him a humbleness, a realistic path because he was discovering who he was and there was reason for him to find things out when he did. Seeing his planet, what old movie gave you that as well?

Pacific Rim is plagued by bad feedback, Don't listen to critics. Hell, Lone Ranger flopped but it was a good movie...hell great movie. People just don't really spend too much money or go support a movie. I think Pacific Rim is original piece based off Godzilla, Gundam Wing except he didn't go that route and made it his own. I think original films are better than the sequels or reboots we get every year. Though I loved Man Of Steel. Pacific Rim was a nice film dealing with the plot etc. wasn't too long and just the right amount. I disagree with Reaver on degrading a great film though.

I've never liked the old Superman Movies. Reeves or that butt chinned dude they got a few years back. Plus the blonde chick that played Louis Lane in the last installment is hideous to me so I didn't even finish it. This one was powerful, it gave me an interest in the story and character. I will surely be watching Pacific Rim, I've been a fan of Charlie Hunnam since Green St. Hooligans which is one of my favorite flicks. Pretty Bubbles! Haha
