I caught the end of this on the radio in the taxi home, something about someone having a heart attack and HBO releasing a statement about their shock at the suddenness of the death. Didn't realise it was Gandolfini 'til I got home.
I've just started watching The Sopranos. Now I'm fucking devastated. :/

Such a good series. OZ was good as hell too, HBO show I think, maybe Showtime. I watched them both at the same time on DVD but yeah I am bummed by this news.

I never really knew this guy (outside his character) or even watched the Sopranos but I was always aware of the show itself and his character.
Which makes him extremely iconic to me. He really looks like a mafia boss - more believable than Scarface. What a powerful character.
R.I.P

It was a Modern Mafia TV Show and it was legit. Loved this show, one of the Shows that can cause Addiction.

I actually saw this yesterday after I'd finished watching an episode of the Sopranos. Sent the biggest freaking chill down my spine, made my neck hairs stand up.
RIP to a television legend. I don't think a lot of modern-day TV characters could have happened as well without Gandolfini's Tony Soprano.

He was indeed, a TV legend, no doubt. Take it from an Italian-Irishman, who is very proud of his heritage, and knows a bit about past mafia business (stories floated through my Dellamonica family)...
Nobody was better suited for the role of Tony Soprano, than James Gandolfini.
