Niobe pushed open the double doors to the church, stopping just inside of the doorway to glance to either side of her, looking at the religious pictures hung up in the entryway. Pedestals that once held candles for patrons to light as they came in were now empty and barren and had been for some time. As she strolled into the main part of the church itself, she glanced upwards to the vaulted roof and the carvings in the stone that otherwise made this a very lovely building to be in and to experience for oneself. Hands reached out on both sides of the long carpeted walkway in between the pews as she brushed her hands over the wooden benches, carefully touching them with her fingers as she strolled to the very front and stopped right there at the end of the walk way. Eyes stared at the podium in front of her and then trailed behind it to the religious figures and such behind it.
There was some renovation being done all over the church currently so the congregation was forced into another alternate location for church services. Now if you had caught her in here at this very moment, you would wonder what in the world was someone like her doing in a place like this? She wasn’t a church goer to this particular place, nor was she overly religious like some people she knew. She believed in other things, other beings, and didn’t center herself on one particular ideology. Her parents, she knew went to church every so often and had dragged her along from the time she was little until her early teens when she could rebel and refuse to go.
She sat on the left side in the very front, crossing one leg over the other as she shut her eyes for a minute, reflecting on a bunch of things. In a place like this that was relatively quiet, thinking and reflecting was an easy thing to do. The wind blew against the building a bit, rattling one of the loose window panes, causing her to open her eyes again as she clasped her hands in her lap. She wasn’t sure how Tommy would react to her bringing him to one of these places anyway, so she had left him behind and out of her plans for now.
Niobe shook her head, and coughed, deciding to get this whole thing out of her system before she fell too far off into her own thoughts again. She glanced around one more time and got up out of the pew, ascending the stairs of the platform at the front, coming to stand at the podium as she rested her hands on either side of it. Right at that moment, she felt like she was speaking to a mass of people, delivering her own version of a victory speech.
”I’ve come to this church, of all places because I find them to be very peaceful places to sit and relax and…well…think. Lately I seem to be doing that more and more. I keep thinking about the future, and what’s to come for me. It’s a bit of a big thing to think about, ones future, because it’s something that no one really knows. We all have to do our own part to shape our futures for the better. We can’t just sit around and expect the future to do everything for us, we must go out there and shape it by our own hands. That is our goal.
I am shaping my own future as we speak. I have a wonderful home to go to, friends that care about me, a loving boyfriend and am part of a group that is going to take this chaotic company by storm! We formed out of the need to change this place for the better, take opportunities for ourselves because that’s the way we’ve been doing things individually all along. It’s time that those who are handed opportunities, and didn’t earn them to be punished. Punished good, mind you. Those who walk among the privileged do not deserve to walk at all! They deserve their own fate at our hands.
Yes people, we are a group of individuals with our own goals but one said mindset as I mentioned before. You would do wise not to forget that. Ask our latest victim from last week, he’ll tell you what it’s like to be touched by our hand.
Now tonight we have two more figures who are stepping up to the plate and wanting a chance at their own glory, their own selfish desires. Yes they may have been successful in their own matches but that doesn’t make them any more special than the next person does it? No, I say, no.
Wyatt Crash and Mr. Enigma, two people with success under their belts but no idea how to handle themselves against a group such as ourselves. I am partnering with the one and only Chris Madison to take on these two punk ass jerks who think they can step to us and bring the pain? I spit at that idea and tell them this, it’s going to take a lot more than pretty faces and pretty words to intimidate us. You want a fight, you’ve got it, but be warned we are going to hurt you bad for messing with us.
Feel and fear the touch of The Black Hand.”
