(OOC: I REALLY hope I got the new font color thing right, because honestly, I hate having to color the font in my own RPs)
::A basketball bounces off the blacktop ground of an outdoor court blocked off from the street by a chain link fence and a wall. The ball stops bouncing as the person holding it attempts to shoot it. The ball bounces off the net and hits the wall. The person chases after the ball, and catches it. “The Hong Kong Sensation” Amy Zing stands in the court with the basketball in her hands.::
::Dressed in a pair of shorts and a Los Angeles Lakers jersey over a sports bra and a pair of white Nike Air sneakers, with a sweatband on her head, Amy tucks the ball under her arm and walks towards a bench near the fence. She pulls a bottle of water from a gym bag and opens it up, drinking about a quarter of it.::
::Taking another drink, she places the ball on the bench and sits down. She looks at the hoop. The sun is starting to set, bringing the hue and colors of twilight to the sky.::
“I find myself feeling several different feelings at the moment.”
::An amused and supremely satisfied smile forms on the face of “the Hong Kong Sensation” Amy Zing. She rubs her hands together.::
“The first and foremost of what I am feeling is cathartic. A week ago, I proved that I could beat Young Mannie in the ring. I proved that without Sienna Harrison and his entourage backing him up, he is nothing to me. I went to that ring and I beat him. For the first time ever, he did not have Harrison causing the house to favor him. He did not have his worthless bodyguard to protect him. He did not have his uncle to guide him. For the first time, he was all alone. And I beat him. In the middle of the ring, I kicked his damn head off and pinned his shoulder to the mat. I proved that “the Main Attraction” is nothing more than “the pre-game show”.”
::She stops rubbing her hands together, still smiling.::
“Now I suppose it was a bit much to kick him a few times when he was down after the match. I am sure some people did not like that I did that. But you know what?”
“I do not regret a single thing I did to Young Mannie at Meltdown. If there is anything to regret, it is that I did not make him suffer and bleed just a little bit more before I ended the match. After everything he did to me, he deserved much worse than he got.”
::“The Hong Kong Sensation” smiles at the memory of finally defeating Young Mannie after so many attempts and setbacks and disappointments. She sighs contently, and then frowns as she now starts looking a bit saddened.::
“Another thing I feel is a bit of sadness to see Monday Night Meltdown end. Clearly having a wrestler purchasing the show and letting Alexander Duvall or Sienna run the show wasn’t helpful either. Like pretty much every wrestler in Action Packed Wrestling, I started on Meltdown. I made a few friends there among the crew and staff. I’d hate to think they were all losing their jobs.”
“But with the possibly last Meltdown ever about to happen, I find myself feeling curious as to what will happen with the North American Championship. I mean I see that the Guv’Nor will defend the title against Robina Hood. But then what? Does it go to Overdrive if Robina wins the title? Does it follow the Guv’Nor to Asylum if he retains? Although really, I think Asylum has enough titles, though I think the tag team championships are inter-brand, so to speak, but still. Or will it just get deactivated, like many titles that are no longer needed have been? That, however, seems such a waste though.”
::She takes another drink and shrugs.::
“I think these are valid questions concerning the North American Championship. I find that I cannot but help to be curious. I would like to think that we will get answers either on Asylum or Overdrive.”
“It may seem a bit strange, but I feel a bit of relief that I am no longer the only woman wrestling on Overdrive. I did not like being singled out as such, or hyped up on just that factor. I failed to see why such hype was needed as there really is not a women’s division in Action Packed Wrestling, so it was not as if I could bring the APW Women’s Championship to Overdrive, because we do not have one. Not even sure if having one would work as too many women have held the other titles here in APW. Still, it really didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me that I was hyped or advertised upon being the only woman on Overdrive. I did not hear anyone hyping making any fuss about my being the only Asian person here. Though there is the whole “Hong Kong Sensation” nickname, but that hardly counts if you really think about it. At least I am pretty sure I am the only Asian wrestler on the roster, but I fail to see why race should be an issue or a thing in this case. It makes as much sense as hyping being the only woman on Overdrive for awhile.”
::Amy stops talking as she realizes she is starting to just ramble on and completely get off topic. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. Exhaling slowly, she opens her eyes.::
“But most of all, I feel a sense of excitement.”
“I am excited because this means that there are so many new wrestlers now coming to Overdrive. Some of them are people I have been in the ring with before in one way or another. Others are new and I have never had the chance to step into the ring and face them. Though, to be fair, this is also true of people who are already here. There are several people on Overdrive I have yet to face for one reason or another. But that is neither here nor there.”
“This week, I find myself in a triple threat match against someone I have been in the ring with, and someone I have never faced before.”
::She looks towards the side as if in thought for a moment, like she suddenly realized something.::
“There are a lot of triple threat matches this week on both Overdrive and Asylum. It’s like a theme week or something.”
::Amy shrugs.::
“But yes, this is the first time I have ever faced Leon “The Virus” Roberts and I have been in the ring with Niobe “Nightmare” Martin before, though it was in a six-person tag team match at Survive and Conquer. It was her, Cid Phoenix, and Warren Peace against myself, Evan McDonald and Robina Hood. If I recall correctly, I pinned her to win the match. Although, given I was teaming with Hood and McDonald, I really do not know how we managed to win that match. Not even sure if Cid Phoenix is still around. I know Warren isn’t. Not sure about Cid.”
::Amy shrugs again.::
“Either way, I have not been back in the ring with Niobe since then. I really do not know why that is either. I would assume it was more than likely due to the fact that I was involved in that whole thing with Young Mannie, and she was busy and then there was my getting fired and the whole being drafted to Overdrive. So those were probably good reasons. Not great reasons, but still good enough.”
“And to be honest, ever since Niobe developed her new attitude, I have wanted to get into the ring with her. When I first met her in the ring, she was just starting out. She was new. Since then, she’s turned away from the fans, started going out with Iron Knox and formed Iron Nightmare.”
::Shaking her head, Amy takes a deep breath and exhales. She looks downward at the ground, the back up to the sky, now painted yellow and orange from the setting sun.::
“Niobe, you are not the same person I met in the locker room half a year ago. It would probably mean more if we were ever friends, but still. You have become more aggressive in the ring form what I have been able to see. Ever since you and Iron Knox became a couple, you have been a different competitor.”
“Maybe it is just how you had to evolve. No one is going say you have had an easy time here in Action Packed Wrestling. Sienna Harrison seemed to dislike you from the moment you debuted for whatever reasons she had and Robina Hood really seemed to detest you just because. Weirdly, it was that mutual dislike of you that brought them together. So, I really cannot blame you for what you did.”
“I can still be a bit surprised by it. Then again, who am I to judge? I keep trying to be this cheery, polite, respectful person despite everything that has happened to me. I almost think we could start a club with Aubrey Parker and Logan Alexander, The People the Meltdown General Manager Decided to Randomly Hate for No Reason Club.”
::She pauses for a moment and blinks, as if realizing something.::
“That is a terrible name isn’t it?”
::Amy shakes her head a bit. She runs her fingers through her hair.::
“But be that as it may, I do want to get into the ring with you again Niobe, and I am looking forward to this. I do respect your ability in the ring and your reputation. Like me, you fought through the independents and made your way to the big time of Action Packed Wrestling. I may not be a fan of your current attitude or your boyfriend’s turning on his partner and my friend Buckson Gooch, but I do respect what you can do.”
::Taking another swig from the water bottle, she closes it and sets it down. She gets to her feet, starting to dribble the ball as she walks back to the center of the court.::
“However, this is a triple threat match and I have another opponent in that ring at Overdrive, which brings me to my other opponent. It is an opponent I have never been in the ring with in any capacity, be it in a tag team match of facing off against each other.”
“Leon Roberts, let’s just get the obvious thing out there and that is the fact that you are huge. Compared to myself and Niobe, you are a giant. There is no way to deny that. It is pretty obvious. You are a giant capable of a lot of destruction and violence in this match. There is very little doubt in the minds of anyone looking at this match that if you get your hands on either Niobe or me, you could end us very quickly and effectively. You have the size and strength to do so.”
::Amy shoots another basket. The ball hits the rim and slips into the basket, going through and bouncing on the court. Amy walks towards the ball as it stops bouncing and starts to roll a bit. She picks it up. She smiles a bit, as if amused by facing someone like “the Virus”.::
“However, that pretty much sums up most of my opponents. I am barely over 5 feet tall and not even one hundred fifty pounds. It is safe to say I have walked into just about every match I have wrestled in Action Packed Wrestling with a huge size disadvantage.”
::She shakes her head and shoots another basket. This one hits the rim and bounces off. Amy walks after the ball, rather then running after it. She looks at the basket again.::
“I would love to say something that sounded really confident. Something like; “my name is not Jack, but I still going to slay a giant”. That may sound confident, but I am really not entirely certain I can jump high enough to hit you with the Fenghuang Kick. I could also say something like “the bigger they are, the harder they fall”. However, while that may be true, it is my experience that the bigger they are, the harder they hit. And I would imagine you can hit very hard.”
“Leon, you may be big, and you may be able to hit like a truck, but that really does not mean a whole lot to me. They say it is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. You look at a pitbull, and you see it is not the biggest dog out there, but it is one of the most vicious, violent and more feared breeds out there. There are towns that have banned then, when bigger breeds like the German Shepard or Doberman can be just as violent, but have not earned the pitbull’s reputation.”
::Amy walks back to the bench and picks up the water bottle again and takes a drink from it.::
“If there is one thing that people keep saying about me, one thing I pride myself on, it is the fact that I do not quit. I fight. No matter the odds, no matter how outclassed I am, I will go out to that ring and fight with everything I have to give. My opponent’s size, strength, reputation, or experience advantage means nothing to me. I go out there and give everything I have. That is something you need to know Leon Roberts and you need to remember it Niobe Martin.”
“When you get right down to it, all the talk, all the hype and everything we have around us, none of us have really manage to accomplish anything here in Action Packed Wrestling. Your team with Jake Titan has yet to bring you a Tag Team Championship reign Leon. I ma not sure if you have had the opportunity for the titles yet, come to think of it. And Niobe, I don’t think you have had the chance to even have had opportunity to begin with. Every time I have had the chance to become a champion, I have failed to win the title. I will be the first person to admit to my failures. I could blame outside interference and all sort of things, but that is only really applicable to two matches with Young Mannie. The other times I have failed to claim a championship have been solely my fault. I either made a mistake that caused the failure, or was not fast enough to make the cover at the right time or overlooked something or failed to capitalize when I should have.”
::She pauses as she realizes she is rambling again and purses her lips. She sighs, a bit frustrated with herself that she started rambling again.::
“Sorry.”
::“The Hong Kong Sensation” runs her fingers through her hair, looking a little sheepish. She shakes her hand free of the sweat and picks up the water bottle, taking a drink. She looks towards the net. She moves a bit closer to the center and takes a shot. The ball misses, hitting the rim and bouncing off. It rolls away from her.::
“This is the type of match though, where one mistake, one missed opportunity to capitalize or overlooking something can cost you. In a triple threat match, you may think you are on top, about to take it all, and then someone swoops in and steals the victory right from under you. This match can be anyone’s to win. And we all want to win this match.”
“For better or worse, and it is probably the later, Alexander Duvall is one of those people most of us have to prove something to in order to earn our chances. To be perfectly honest, he is better than Sienna Harrison, but not by much. It is a very slim margin though. However the point I am trying to make is the way I see this match is that each of us wants to prove something.”
“Thursday Night Overdrive is supposed to be the main show of Action Packed Wrestling. It is meant to be the flagship show of the best wrestling company on the planet. Each one of us is trying to prove that we belong here. Each one of us is going out there with the goal of proving we belong on Thursday Night Overidrve. Leon, I am sure you want to prove you can just as dangerous and just as lethal as your namesake. Niobe, I am sure you want to prove how much of a nightmare you can really be. I want to prove that I deserve to be here because I am good enough, not because I sell far more merchandise than a person at my level in this company should be selling. I mean, when I got my job back earlier this year, President Jeff pointed out one of the biggest things about me was the amount of shirts and hats and other pieces of merchandise with my name on it people buy, not the amount of fans I have, or how loud they cheer me. That is not exactly how I want people to remember me or what I want them to think of when they think about me. Not that I am not grateful to all my fans for buying those hats and t-shirts and whatnot. I appreciate it. I really do. I would just rather not be known only for pushing merchandise. And I’m rambling again, which is probably something people will end up remembering me for more than the shirts.”
::She closes her eyes again, placing her hands on her hips and takes a deep breath. She exhales slowly and opens her eyes. She shakes her head.::
“So, this week at Thursday Night Overdrive, I will walk into the ring with the goal of kicking someone’s head off and proving to the both of you why I am simply Amy Zing. So, Niobe, Leon, I wish the two of you good luck and I will see you Thursday night.”
::The scene starts to fade out on Amy moving to pick the ball back up and starting to dribble again. She takes another shot as the scene fades to black.::
::A basketball bounces off the blacktop ground of an outdoor court blocked off from the street by a chain link fence and a wall. The ball stops bouncing as the person holding it attempts to shoot it. The ball bounces off the net and hits the wall. The person chases after the ball, and catches it. “The Hong Kong Sensation” Amy Zing stands in the court with the basketball in her hands.::
