Guess what day it is!
The shot fades in on Roy Speede, sitting in a baseball stadium, in fact right atop home plate.
Roy Speede: That's right! It's Sunday! Which means in less than forty-eight hours, the last edition of Monday Night Meltdown, perhaps EVER, goes live, and yours truly is going to show up. What does that mean it he grand scheme of things? Well, it's one more wrestler on the card, one more potential big-name wrestler who gets to try to make his name memorable one more time. And that's all in less than forty-eight hours.
Sun-DAY! Yeeeeah!
Over the speakers in the midst of the empty stadium, the sound of Europe's "The Final Countdown" begins to play over the speakers. Speede merely smirks and lets the song play for a couple of moments, through the first chorus, and as it fades, he starts again to speak.
Roy Speede: That's exactly what this is, folks, its the final countdown, when everyone is looking toward Meltdown, and wanting to make good on their own image before the show goes off the air, perhaps never to return. And it's not just the APW hopefuls making appearances on the final Meltdown either; such names as Sally Talfourd are showing up, and the main event even features a match for the North American Championship, lord knows what will happen with the belt after the dust clears.
But why am I trying talking about all this, you ask? Well, to put it into perspective for you, I'm showing up for a big match against a man I've grown to recognize as a rival in APW in one Billy Pepsi. The man in question has bested me multiple times, and I've gotten my revenge, and this is basically the rubber match between us. This is the match that will settle a dispute that has lingered for months between us, and you know who'll walk out the winner?
No, I didn't think so, and truthfully, neither do I, but if I had a. Guess, the winner is the guy right here in front of you talking, and for good reason.
FIVE
Billy Pepsi is a man known for cheap shots and foul play, and yours truly fights fair at all costs. In this match, I'm not holding back, and there won't be any dirty tricks. If Pepsi wants to play hardball, he's found himself a fighter who can send that right back at him. If he tries to cheat, he's got an opponent who will counteract it. To put it quite simply, he has been thoroughly scouted and I know what to expect.
FOUR
I've been a wrestler that, throughout my time in APW, have been underrated and looked at as an easy target. He underestimates me just like so many do; just look back a few months, to when I was teaming with a man named Donald Deruty, and the two of us, a pair of newcomers, almost won the tag team titles because people underestimated us. We beat Delikado and Evan Envi to he there. There's no question we were one of the best teams in the game. And this no question that I was underestimated gain in my solo career.
Look at my singles competitions. I stepped up and took a challenge against an anonymous competitor on Overdrive. I ended up going toe to toe with Kurt fucking Noble, and the very next week, I again showed up to. Tangle with Delikado, two wrestlers who were at the time among Overdrive's finest, if not APW's finest as a whole. And a couple times, I almost had them down or the three count, because they simply her estimated me, and. Pepsi.... He's going to do it all over again.
THREE
Look at the two of us, Billy Pepsi and myself, and one thing stands out between us as being noteworthy just by our appearance. The styles that we wrestle by are quite similar and it is truly a game of execution in this matchup. Looking back to his underestimation of my abilities, and it is plain as day who will be the one capitalize on mistakes better, who will be the one to execute better, and who will walk out the winner. To.
TWO
Can you look Pepsi in the eye and see that he's anywhere near as determined, as dedicated to this game as I am? Honestly, no you cannot. He isn't the one who will step into the ring against an opponent he hasn't planned ahead to face. He's not the one who will go toe to toe and face any opponent on this roster without backing down, mistakes or no mistakes. He isn't the one who strives to be the better wrestler both physically and morally.
That wrestler is me. I'm not a cheater, I'm not a liar and I'm not above harming myself physically to get the job done in the ring, no matter what it takes. When I step between those ropes and that bell sounds, I will give my all no matter what happens, no matter who I'm facing, and no matter what it takes to get the job done. Have I made mistakes that've cost me? Sure; everyone has, but I make sure I learn from those mistakes so I don't make them all over again.
ONE
I want it more, plain and simple. I'm the better wrestler, and I'm going into this match with a do or die attitude that says yes, I'm going to win. If you look carefully, the answer is plain as day, and this match has its winner.
And that winner, is most definitely me.
How happy are folks who root for Roy Speede on the last edition of Meltdown?
I'd say happier than a wrestler the day before a big match. Sun-DAY, yeeeeah!
Oh, sorry, where was I? What do you mean I already made that joke?!
Oh, whatever. Right, I'm gonna win, blah blah blah, just watch and see. End of discussion.
This has been... The Silver Lining.
