I absolutely love how the small things in life can be the best ever. The simplest of things bringing a smile to ones face just shows that person is truly happy, and that was exactly how I was. Ever since he showed up everything has been right again. I am more happy now then I was in the past. I think it’s true… Distance makes the heart grow fonder.
When I wake up, and see a text saying good morning, it could be, and has been, the highlight of my day. Sounds boring right? It’s far from it.
“Kay… Damn it girl, will you get your head out of the clouds?”
I had forgotten where I was and who was with me for a minute. My brother had called me up and wanted to spend some time together. Of course I didn’t mind. Not anymore. I was starting to get close to them all over again. I felt bad for shutting them out for so long, but sometimes that’s what you had to do.
“Sorry. Anyway, my head wasn’t in a cloud.”
“Right… so you just had that stupid love struck grin on your face for no reason at all?”
I must have blushed because my brother laughed.
“Relax Kay, the secret is safe with me. So… how are things going with him in your life? How long before you bring him around?”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa! Slow down there D.”
Donte was asking a bit too much for comfort at the moment.
“Right now I am just enjoying being friends, and being reminded how good it is with him in my life.”
“Well, how would I know if I didn't…”
I raised my brow and almost went to attack him and he must have realized what my intentions were going to be because he was quick to keep talking.
“I am just glad things are running smooth now.”
“Hey, I am just living each day as if it were my last right now. If things go well… then we can talk.”
Dante knew what I meant.
“So have you figured out what you’re going to do this week?”
“Honestly… I will be keeping to myself before and after my match. I am leaving no chance for anyone to fuck me over before my match or after. I am making sure I am at my best when I step into the ring at Asylum.”
“Whoa there sis. Calm yourself.”
“Sorry.”
“Nope, it’s fine. I know how you must be feeling right now, but just think twice before you do anything, or say anything. I know that is hard for you to do, but sometimes that pretty little mouth of yours gets you into trouble.”
“Oh hush it. I make sure if I start a battle I can fight it. Even if I don’t walk away the winner, I still walk away.”
“One of these days you might no…”
“Hey, if that time ever comes, then you can rub it in my face, until then though, how about we don’t think of it?”
Donte remained silent on the topic and that was enough that he was willing to bring it back up at a later time if need be. Hell, he had done so in the past, so I wouldn’t doubt him to do it again. No matter what we had been through, even when we were tearing one another apart, when needed, we always had one another’s back.
“Why don’t you get yourself ready. I will go inside and get the douche bags and we can get in the ring and see where you stand.”
“Sounds good to me.”
I watched as he stood up and started to walk towards the house.
“Hey D!”
He stopped and turned around to look at me.
“Thanks bro.”
The smile that played across his face was enough for me. He disappeared through the door and I sat there a moment before standing up and running the length of the yard to the ring that was built when he first got the house, sliding under and pushing myself to a stand. God, it felt great to be home.
Once again I am finding that my title is on the line, and not only is that happening but it's against someone who has defeated me before. I should be worried right? Should be freaking out and trying to figure out how exactly I plan to win the match and retain the title... but I am not.
"So, Once again I find myself going against Raab. I have faced you in the ring before, and that was when I had a whole lot going on, but right now... My life is pretty free of all that extra bullshit. So, you have a fully focused Kaylyn.
Congratulations... this is probably your worse nightmare."
Kaylyn smirked and laughed slightly.
"You see, all I hear from you is blah blah blah when you talk Raab. You think I forgot what you had to say in the past? Please, far from it. You whined forever about how I was just handed a title shot, and didn't earn it at all. What you need to realize is it doesn't matter what you do... if you don't make the business money, you wont be getting anywhere. This here... Me. This Perfection... The Perfect Ten makes the money for the company. I am one of the faces that needs to be shown when airing APW.
You Raab... well, you're not. Sure you might be throwing some power around, but outside of that you really have absolutely nothing. You think a title will make a difference for you? You would be wrong. Whether you hold a belt or not won't make a difference on if you get respect around here. You want it, you need to.... earn it. Something that will never happen with you. You bitch and moan too much Raab.
Why did I get a title shot? I was in the right place and arguing with the right person at the right time. That is all there is too it really."
Kay stretched her arms over her head knowing the match was soon to come.
"The last time we faced, you promised to destroy me.. to leave me heading to a hospital bed... and what happened? Nothing more then some bumps and bruises. You can't hurt me Raab. Nothing you say or do can get to me bad enough to leave me down and out.
Hell... you could leave this match as the winner and it won't even bother me for a single second. Why you ask...? Because I move on to bigger and better things no matter what. I don't need to talk for hours, and say millions of things to know that I am better than you. It doesn't matter who wins in the ring... I am better for this business, and that will show.
I have had far too many people think that they could walk all over me and nothing would happen because of it. Each and every time however I go and show them exactly what I am made of in the end. I caught you on twitter months ago, and you were nice... you covered it up later saying it was medication, however you were full of shit. You were on no new medication, and those types of moodswings have no over night changing results. What happened was you were caught being nice and you had to cover it up. Raab, you have a soft spot, and it could be your downfall. If you happen to beat me this week, you had better believe that I will be coming back for more, and soon."
Kaylyn stood there with her arms crossed, looking out the window. The clouds were dark, but the sun still tried to make itself known.
“You are not invisible Raab. Sure, we all know that after all, it's been proven that you can be defeated. It’s not an easy task, but it can be done. People that I have defeated have beaten you… so I just have to push myself hard enough, and I can do it. After how things went the last time we faced… after the way you tried to destroy me and took me to limits I wasn't expecting to go to… you crossed a line, and that didn’t go unnoticed on my end. I don’t care what everyone else in the past has done… I haven’t forgot anything you did.
This whole time, you have been like a shadow on the wall, watching as each person outside of yourself has moved on to bigger and better things, gotten the title shots that you believe you deserved...keeping tabs on our every moves... and look where it finally got you. Face to face with me. I sure as hell hope you're ready for it. You promised pain… harm to everyone around me… but what happened after you made those promises? Nothing. You try to intimidate people. At times it might work, but here and now.. no, not with me. I see you for what you really are now. You are nothing more than a man hiding behind his size. You let that and your words scare the females away, but I have seen that you are nothing. You’re promises mean shit, and you are SHIT.
You might be able to defeat me in the ring Raab… you have showed already that you can. But you wont make me fear you anymore. You are nothing to me Raab. Nothing more than another person stepping into the ring against me that I will try my damn-est to defeat. I am walking into this match. I am going to fight you. When all is said and done… I will be walking away on my own as well. Nothing you can do will stop me. This is survival of the fittest… and I am going to survive.”
Kaylyn turned away from the window and headed through the room which was otherwise in complete darkness. Only shadows could be seen dancing across the walls.
“This match means more than anything at the moment… because after the shit you pulled, if I am not smart about it, I wont make it to the next Asylum. I can’t let that happen. I can not let you destroy me like you tried to do before. I will make it out of that ring unharmed. Win or lose… I am ready for anything."
Kaylyn knew that her title reign could end at any moment, she also knew she was ready for change. Granted holding the title longer wouldn't bother her at all, losing it wouldn't be the worst thing either. She had other things she could focus on more, like The Synndicate. That needed her focus. L-1 needed her focus.
