::While she is not on the card for Shockwave, another pay-per-view she missed being on, “the Hong Kong Sensation” Amy Zing has not had the week off. She has mostly done promotional work for the pay-per-view in Detroit, Michigan’s Joe Louis Arena and for the Meltdown Supershow at the Palace in Auburn Hills, Michigan.::
::She has spent most of the week doing television appearances, radio interviews, and various public appearances. Today she had an autograph signing in a merchandise truck before the pay-per-view that lasted two hours before the show began. The crowd was excited, eagerly awaiting the pay-per-view which promises to be one of the biggest and most exciting pay-per-views of the year, maybe more so than RassleMania or Survive & Conquer.::
::As the show is about to begin, Amy is standing out back by the catering area. Earlier today, she was in her wrestling gear and a new shirt of hers, showing a stylized image of Fenghuang, the Chinese Phoenix, with Amy Zing written in Chinese down the side and “Simply Amy Zing” on the back. Now she is in a pair of jeans and a simple white blouse, not too casual, but not totally business either.::
::Amy is seated at a table. She has a small plate of salad and some chicken, chasing it down with a can of Coca-Cola. She is watching the Shockwave pre-show as she eats. Finishing her meal, she gets to her feet and walks to a trash can.::
“You want to know something funny Robina? I really have no idea what to say right now. And, you would think I could find a lot to say considering I have wanted another match against you for so long, and here I have that, and for a championship I tried and failed to win so many times throughout last winter. But I really do not know what to talk about.”
::Amy tosses the plate out in the trash and the can of soda into the recycling bin. From a nearby bucket of ice, she pulls out another can of Coca-Cola and pops the top, taking a drink. She lowers the can, still smiling.::
“I find it rather amusing that there was so much hype for the final Monday Night Overdrive in Mississippi a few months ago, and yet, here we are, with another Meltdown coming up after Shockwave rolls into Michigan and we stay in Michigan, and not only that, but it will be a Meltdown Supershow. I suppose that is what Meltdown gets to be now, the post pay-per-view Supershow. That might be why it is on a Tuesday instead of its usual Monday night. So the one back in July might actually have been the last official Monday Night Meltdown, but now the Meltdown name hers used for these post pay-per-view supershows. I doubt though that Sienna Harrison will get to be the General Manager of a Meltdown Supershow, because it seems rather strange and just silly to have a General Manager for a show that happens only once a month, if even that, because I don’t think APW does a pay-per-view every month, just most of them. I know we missed one, but I can’t recall what month it was.”
::Amy catches herself rambling and closes her eyes. She takes a deep breath in and then exhales slowly to regain her focus and center herself. She then opens her eyes, trying not to look too embarrassed.::
“I have waited a long time for this opportunity. This is not just another shot at the APW North American Championship, a belt I spent so long trying to win and failing every time to do so. This is also one more match against one of the fiercest, toughest and most intense competitors I have been in the ring with; you Robina Hood. And I am looking forward to it.”
::She takes another drink from the can.::
“I know that may sound like a strange thing to say, but I really am looking forward to this match. You and I have beaten the absolute bloody hell out of each other in two really just brutal matches. I think it would be more prudent to call them wars, as opposed to calling them matches, because that is what they were. They were wars.”
::“The Hong Kong Sensation” looks away from the monitor and more towards the main body of the arena where the ring is. While it is not the same ring she and Robina first fought in, it is still a wrestling ring, so it is pretty much the same build and feel of that Meltdown ring.::
“Our first encounter, the ladder match, that would determine if I would get a chance to fight Sienna Harrison after or not, was just brutal. We pulled out all the stops and just threw caution to the wind so many times during that match. I gave you everything I had in that match Robina, and you gave it right back, and honestly, right then and there, you earned every ounce of respect I have for you, mostly because you beat it into me. It was only by the slimmest margin that I got the win.”
“And then, on my last night as a member of the Monday Night Meltdown roster, right after I was drafted to Thursday Night Overdrive, we went at it one more time in a no disqualification match. And again Robina, that was more a war than it was a match. One more time, we went to that ring and we just beat the hell out of each other. On that night, it was your night. I could make excuses about Sienna’s interference in the match, but to do so would diminish the fact that on that night, you were just better than me.”
::Amy allows herself to laugh a bit. It is a small, light laughter, as if she finds something amusing, but not too funny, but not a pity laugh either.::
“If you really think about it, this is the first time we will ever meet in the ring in a one-on-one match without some sort of stipulation like a ladder match or a steel cage match or some such thing attached to it. This is our first regular match. It will just be you and me, in the ring with a referee. I know you well enough to know you would not try to get yourself counted out or disqualified intentionally. You are not the type. No, win, lose or draw, you are the type of competitor who will see a match through to the end. Regardless of the outcome, you will see the match to the end.”
::She sighs, looking a bit upset for a moment.::
“When Sienna picked Young Mannie to be her chosen Megastar, the wrestler who she thought she could mold into a champion and build into a main event star, she chose poorly. What she got instead was an egotistical little bitch completely incapable of doing anything unless she was there to protect him and hold his hand. Mannie had to hire some goon, whose ass I keep kicking, just to protect him from me, a woman half his size, and probably was not worth the headaches she gave him.”
“That Monday Night Meltdown when I finally got him into the ring again was one of the greatest moments of my career, because I went to that ring and proved that without his entourage and Sienna holding his hand Young Mannie could not beat. Honestly, I enjoyed every second of kicking his ass. My only regret is that I didn’t literally take his head off, because I really tried.”
::She cannot help but smile at the memory of beating Young Mannie on that Monday Night Meltdown.::
“However, when Sienna chose you, Robina, to be her chosen one, the one she would mold into “the perfect Megastar” she chose well. She chose a tough, fierce competitor willing to do whatever she had to in order to get the job done. Now maybe you did not win every single match you wrestled, but you never needed her to hold your hand or protect you in the ring like she did with Young Mannie. No Robina, as much as I dislike Sienna, I am forced to admit that she did indeed choose well when she chose you.”
“Now I liked the Guv’Nor. I thought he was a great wrestler and carried the North American Championship very well. I particularly enjoyed watching him torment Sienna Harrison. However, I would be lying if I said that I was not supporting your effort to become North American Champion. I hate to admit it, but I cheered a little when you won. Of course, the only downside is Sienna doesn’t get to parade you around Monday Night Meltdown as her chosen one, but that doesn’t seem all that bad. I have to admit, I was hoping that I would get a chance at that title and you again Robina.”
::She tosses the empty can back into the recycling bin and looks downward.::
“For so long, I have wanted to have a chance at the North American Championship without having to deal with all of Sienna’s pettiness. And yet, I realize that it sort of became a kind of obsession for me to win that title. I don’t know if I was driven to win it because I wanted to finally claim a championship for the first time ever, or because winning it would just really irritate Sienna.”
“The first time I went after it, I think it stemmed from just seeing how Logan Alexander handled being champion. I feel the same way about Level One as the World Heavy Champion, but of course, I’m one of those people hoping we see an Undisputed Championship and World Heavyweight Championship unification match, but that is neither here nor there. And then after that, it was really more about getting it off of Young Mannie and really just vexing Sienna Harrison. And I could make excuses as to why I was not able to win the title, but I am not going to. The fact is, on those nights, I just was not good enough to do it.”
::She looks upward towards the ceiling for a moment, before lowering her head.::
“But this is a new day Robina. A few months ago, I put the past with Young Mannie behind me and nearly kicked his head off. I will probably never forgive him, but I think I can move passed it. This week, I hope to get passed two other things from my past; my inability to win the North American Championship, and evening our tie against each other.”
“This is almost like Christmas for me, if I celebrated Christmas, but I don’t, because, well, I am a Buddhist. Not that we don’t have holidays of our own. We do. They are more like celebrations than actual holidays. Mostly they deal with community, friendship, prayer and generosity, as opposed to Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny or the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Yes, we do have holidays dedicated to the birth and death of Buddha, but again, they are not like Christmas or Easter. No one is really making Buddhist holiday themed movies or TV specials. Not that I am complaining mind you. I am just saying…”
::Before her rambling really gets going “the Hong Kong Sensation” is able to catch herself. Again, she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She then exhales slowly as she always does to regain her focus. Amy opens her eyes again. Again, she tries not to look too embarrassed as she started rambling again.::
“I think it is safe to say we have said nearly everything we can say to and about each other Robina, including that.”
::For a brief moment, “the Hong Kong Sensation” smiles, but that quickly fades.::
“We will never be friends, that much is obvious. You do not like me and, while I respect you, I am not really fond of you. I recall you saying you find me self-righteous, holier-than-thou, and some other things that I forget at the moment, but you did not care for it. I am pretty sure you found my whole nice person attitude and caring about my fans annoying as well. Personally, I have nothing against you really other than you are a bit abrasive and your alliance with Sienna Harrison, but again, I think I have already mentioned that. I mean, it seems that we really have said all we can say about each other, to one another.”
“And yet, as I have already said, I have wanted to get back into the ring with you Robina ever since you were drafted to Thursday Night Overdrive and now, on Meltdown, where all our matches took place, I have that shot again.”
“For the first time, it is you and I in a regular, ordinary one-on-one match without chairs or ladders or kendo sticks or whatever we can find that happens to be laying around ringside, or hidden under the ring or can grab from backstage to bludgeon each other with. No, it will just be you and me, alone with a referee, from bell to bell.”
“And for the first time, this is not happening because Sienna Harrison is unleashing you as if you were her attack dog. This has nothing to do with her. This match is about us, and our issues with each other. Yes, I realize that she can drop by backstage for some reason, but whatever she tells you about having to prove yourself or whatever to her is just bullocks. You have already proved yourself to her and the entire APW roster when you did what only a handful of people did and made it to Test for the Best. You proved it again when you finally defeated the Guv’Nor to win the North American Championship you now hold. Whether or not anyone wants to admit it or even acknowledge it, as far as I am concerned, Robina Hood, you have proven yourself to most of, if not all, the people who ever doubted you, so you do not need Sienna trying to mold you into her champion anymore.”
::Amy’s hands close into fists. They shake a bit; however, it is not out of fear, but from excitement. She is eager with anticipation for the upcoming match at the Meltdown Supershow.::
“Our first two matches were wars. There really is no other word that describes them. They were all out, full blown, knockdown, drag out brawls with us just beating the hell out of each other. I have no reason to doubt that even without the added stipulation of a ladder or no disqualification this match will pretty much be along the same lines of our last two one-on-one encounters. It stands to reason given that we have come close to doing so in the last few weeks and those were just tag team matches. This is one-on-one for your title, so yes, I think it is safe to imagine that it will not be too different from the first two matches we had.”
::Amy runs her fingers through her long, unbound dark hair, shaking it out. She turns to look at the monitor, seeing that the pre-show is still going on.::
“And that is fine with me Robina. If I wanted an easy job where I was not going to be hit with a chair or thrown against a ladder or was not risking personal injury every time I go to work, then obviously I would not be doing this for a living.”
::For the first time, Amy turns to the camera that has been watching her for the last few minutes as she has been talking. There is a determined look on the face of that young lady.::
“So one more time Robina, one more time. As much as I respect you and what you have done, I know you are not holding me in the same regard, nor do you like me. That’s also fine, but it does not negate the fact that I am getting two things I have long wanted all in the same match; another match with you and a chance to win the North American Championship denied to me for so long. And, despite my respect for you, I have every intention of giving you everything I have and winning that championship.”
“Robina, my moment is coming and I plan on making it happen on the Meltdown Supershow at the Palace in Auburn Hills, Michigan. So Tuesday night, I am walking into the Meltdown Supershow to prove to you why I am simply Amy Zing by kicking your head off and winning the first title I have ever won thus becoming the new North America Champion. So good luck Robina, and I will see you for Meltdown at the Palace in Auburn Hills, Michigan.”
::Amy smiles again as the scene fades to black.::
