While it probably did not provide a great view of the action for tonight’s Shockwave pay-per-view, the view from one of the private skyboxes inside the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan is still amazing. From here, one can see most of the arena and the jumbotron. Inside, one can watch the show in relative luxury with food and drinks, away from the large number of people milling about, cheering, booing, or being somehow being annoying.
It should comes as no surprise then to see that this is how the arrogant, second generation wrestlers Connor Murphy and Gabriel Krown, known as the tag team Sang Réal, Old French for “Royal Blood”, chose to watch the show. Even though this box can seat several people, Murphy and Krown seem to have it to themselves.
With the pay-per-view over and the crew beginning to tear down the ring and set, one would expect the two wrestlers to be getting ready to leave. However, the two second generation wrestlers remain seated. Even in a setting such as this, the two are still well dressed in suit and tie. Murphy is sporting a dark grey suit with a black tie. Krown is wearing a navy blue suit and red tie.
Murphy: “It is amazing that in a city that declared bankruptcy, people have spent what is probably their rent money or money that can go towards paying something else, but they decide to spend it here.”
The son of Sheamus Murphy extends his hand and gestures to the arena where people are starting to leave.
Krown: “Not that we mind. After all, we got a new t-shirt and these people need to buy it, as opposed to something silly like food or something.”
Reaching over to the seat next to him, the younger brother of former ECWC Champion Noah Krown, picks up a blood read t-shirt which shows the Murphy four leaf clover and Krown’s crown emblem, which has been placed around the clover like a bandolier. He holds it up a bit longer, and then turns it around to reveal the back which reads “Sang Réal" with "Toujours Pur” under it. He sets the shirt down in the chair next to him.
Murphy: “Then again, we understand why. After all, one night of escape beats the months of trying to buy drugs, or drinking. Though, pretty sure the city that was at one time the murder capital of the United States has enough drug dealers to allow most of the population to get high enough to avoid reality.”
Krown: “But hey, this is Detroit. Clint Eastwood did that whole commercial like a year ago about how this city will not quit and will never say die. Declare bankruptcy? Sure, that they will do. But give up or quit? Hell no. Accept a bridge a Canadian company would build free of charge, thus creating jobs? Hell no. Keep the only bridge between the US and Canada, which happens to be owned by a private company? That’s how Detroit rolls, smelling of desperation, shame, gasoline, piss and I have no idea what else, but it stinks. And I think there was something about a private island society of the rich or something.”
The technical wrestling half of this second generation tag team shrugs. His brawler partner shakes his head as if he is not sure either.
Murphy: “Now we would probably have done this from some broken, rundown part of Detroit, but that describes the whole city. And we didn’t feel like being shanked and mugged this weekend.”
Krown points behind him, as if trying to point to the city of Detroit.
Krown: “It is like District 12 out there. I think this is where hope comes to kill itself. Honestly, I am waiting for this place to just disintegrate into a Hunger Games like society of survival of the fittest. And hopefully, someone puts that on TV, because that’s how Survivor really should be. But what do you expect from a state shaped like a glove and some sort of dangly part?”
Murphy: “And survival is what this is about Zachariah Blood and Sentinel. Unlike this city, once a great and prosperous metropolis, we have no intention of hitting a downward spiral. We are Sang Réal, and that means charm, class, and a certain lifestyle that we represent, which are nice suits, fancy cars, and luxury. It means championships and wrestling pedigrees.”
With both hands, Krown points to himself and Murphy. More accurately, he is pointing to the nicely tailored suits they are both wearing.
Krown: “These suits probably cost more than an apartment in the nice part of Detroit’s most crack filled slum, although, it is hard to tell where exactly that part of town is in this dump of a city. A city leveling fire, massive earthquake or giant tornado that destroys the city, would actually improve Detroit.”
Krown looks to Murphy, nodding. Murphy actually nods back in agreement and turns away from Krown.
Murphy: “About two months ago, you two cost us the APW Tag Team Championships. All we had to do was take out the Dying Breed and APW would have new Tag Team Champions. But instead, you two had to go do your own thing and eliminate us from the match, and it cost you the match as well. YOu will not be getting a chnace to correct that, but we will.”
Krown: “Not exactly the smartest move, but we assume you two came up with the plan while you were hiding in closets and under beds waiting to frighten small children.”
Murphy: “We actually forgot you two were even still a tag team in Action Packed Wrestling. I mean we have barely seen you at all either in a tag team match or one-on-one matches. I think Sentinel has wrestled more than Blood, but I honestly do not care.”
Krown: “Yeah, you guys took out New Dynasty, but what have you done since then? You two have done nothing except frighten children and help Jack Skellington plan Halloween, which is a dying holiday anyway.”
Murphy: “Do you think we were impressed when you ran to the ring and attacked Aubrey Parker? We really were not.”
Krown: “That’s how you decide to stay relevant around here? By jumping someone after they wrestled? It’s unsportsmanlike conduct. And it’s irritating because we didn’t think to do it to Bailey after his match at Shockwave. We assume it is because of your mystery benefactor, but we don’t care.”
Murphy: “Our last match was against the current reigning APW Tag Team Champions, the Dying Breed. And we came close to beating them, we did. Next time we get into the ring with them, with those titles on the line, we will become the new APW Tag Team Champions.”
Krown: “And as we are doing that, you can do whatever it is that you two do, like frighten children or go on a shopping spree at Hot Topic.”
Murphy: “Gentlemen, and I use that term very loosely, we are one of the hottest, most controversial tag teams in wrestling today. And what are you? Just two rejects that think you are a tag team.”
Krown: “Honestly, you call yourselves a tag team? I think you’ve had two tag team matches. The fact that you are even in a number one contender’s match proves that this company is lacking tag teams. And also, that someone is not paying attention, because honestly, there was a number one contender match as Shockwave. We just saw it. It happened down there. It was Jace Savage and Brian Hollywood versus Niobe Martin and Chris Martin, with Savage and Hollywood winning. So, how is our match a number one contender’s match? What? Do we win and face New Gen Rising? Will it be another Triple Threat match? It is a little confusing.”
Krown does indeed look confused as the Black Hand and New Gen Rising had a number one contenders match tonight at Shockwave, but in two nights, Sang Réal and Unforgiven will meet in what has been advertised as a number one contenders match as well. Murphy scratches his head a little.
Murphy: “That was a little odd.”
Krown turns to him, still looking confused.
Krown: “And wasn’t the final episode of Meltdown like two months ago?”
Murphy nods.
Murphy: “More or less, but yes it was.”
Krown: “Then how are we here on another Meltdown when the final episode happened?”
Murphy: “Supershow.”
Krown throws his arms up in a “what’s with that?” gesture and runs his hands over his face.
Krown: “Somehow, that makes less sense than there already being number one contenders for the Tag Team Championships as of right now.”
Murphy: “Be that as it may, whatever happens, we have every intention of walking out of the Meltdown Supershow as the number one contenders, and then, be it going through New Gen Rising or Dying Breed themselves, we are going to become APW Tag Team Champions, and it is going to take more than you two to stop it from happening.”
Krown: “Championships and wrestling are in our blood.”
Murphy: “We think it is great that you guys helped reunite two sisters and have this whole Charlie’s Angels meets Marylyn Manson fans meets never worrying about hygiene again thing going on, and that’s super, but we do not care. We do not care that you have a mysterious backer or that you are trying to pull off this whole big and scary thing or that you are being lead by sisters or who you have attacked. The point is, we do not care.”
Krown: “All we care about is proving that we are the best team here in Action Packed Wrestling and that we, Gabriel Krown and Connor Murphy, are proven to be the true heirs to the legacies our fathers built in wrestling.”
Murphy: “Sentinel, you’re silent, so no one cares what you have to say. Zack, it's a good thing you are a masochist, because we are coming to beat you. Now that could be by tap out or pinfall, we really have no preference, as long as we win. But as you enjoy pain, we will be sure to bring it.”
Krown: “We have Tag Team Championship to win. The two of you cost us an opportunity once and that’s not something that sits well with us. So we figure that the least you can do is help us get another shot at those titles.”
Murphy rises from his seat. He walks to the box’s window and looks out over the emptying arena.
Murphy: “You may look at us and see two confident to the point of cocky, well dressed, spoiled, old money mentality people, and you would be right. That’s who are. What we do is go out to that ring and carry on proud family traditions and legacies when we step through those ropes. You may be bigger, but that doesn’t make you bad.”
Krown: “The bigger they are, the harder the fall, and we can make sure you two fall and stay down. As far as we are concerned, the APW Tag Team Championships are ours by birthright. We want what is ours.”
Krown gets to his feet and joins him, looking down over the arena as the fans who just watched Shockwave begin to leave.
Murphy: “The Dying Breed does not know it yet, but it will be us, and not New Gen Rising, that will take the Tag Team Championships from them.”
Krown: “Sang Réal will have its shot.”
The heir to the Murphy family legacy of tough Irish brawling type wrestlers points to the ring.
Murphy: “Down there is where we belong. We were practically raised in a wrestling ring. We were born and breed for this. And we are destined to become champions here in Action Packed Wrestling.”
The Krown family technical wrestling, and possible insanity, legacy’s heir apparent smiles a bit.
Krown: “Fish have to swim, birds have to fly, and Sang Réal has to wrestle.”
Murphy: “We were born to be wrestlers. We were born to be champions. This business is in our veins Unforgiven.”
The two second generation wrestlers turn from away the window. Behind them, it appears the last of the fans have left as the crew manages to take down the ring and begins work on taking down the Shockwave set.
Krown: “So go ahead, shop Hot Topic, read depressing poetry, do whatever it is to prepare because you peasants are facing purebred wrestling royalty. And unlike you, we have everything to prove at Meltdown. You two are nothing more than peasants challenging your betters. It is time we put you in your place.”
Murphy: “After we beat you, we do not care if it is Dying Breed, New Gen Rising, or two random people thrown together for the first time ever, yet are somehow able to become Tag Team Champions, we are taking those belts.”
Krown: That’s Checkmate.”
Murphy: “That’s Murphy’s Law.”
Krown: “We are Sang Réal.”
Murphy: “And we are Toujours Pur.”
Krown: “And the future other number one contenders for the APW Tag Team Champions.”
With that, Connor Murphy and Gabriel Krown finally exit the skybox. The scene fades to black.
