M - Game ends in a draw between KJE and Jennings. I like to let players pick MVP rather than assigning one, Gooch may have an opinion on this, I'm not going to speak for him, however he wanted me to post this after the game, so I will:



Goals for this game:
The goals for this game were simple. I wanted there to be 4 factions and the town. While I knew they wouldn’t be equal, I wanted it to be close. The War Games concept was even teams, so I couldn’t go with the traditional game of Mafia. I wanted to give an opportunity to have even teams in hopes that the random people chosen as godfathers would utilize this. I gave the even night godfathers a commute the first night because I didn’t think it was fair to stunt their game play because they had no night action. After they had their first night action, they would only be “not active” on the nights they had no abilities.

Some may view this as an extremely unbalanced game, but it really wasn’t. Things were set in place to keep the town strong, and in the case of a recruit, would be able to damage other mafias. We had a ghoul, a shrink, and a roleblocker. We had a JOAT, Santa Claus, and Glassmaker to give out town aligned goodies. Unfortuneately, due to RL, those 3 roles weren’t utilized. That happens. RL gets me good most of the time, but it did have an adverse effect on the gameplay.

There were strong roles put in place because of the recruiting. It’s hard to split a pie 5 ways, including an SK, but that was the goal. I wanted to see how teams worked together and how they worked against others to win for their team, be it one of the mafias or for the town.

For clarification on the Oracle, he was roleblocked Night 3 and the active part of the role was blocked. However, the Oracle selected a target (Rebel) on night 1 and that target lasts until the Oracle is dead. Blade tried to reselect (albeit to the same person) on night 3 and was prevented, meaning if he tried to reselect to anyone else, it wouldn’t have gone through and Rebel still would have been revealed. It just so happened that the Orc tried to hit the same target and thats why there was confusion.

A few comments have been made about mod posts. I didn’t realize that there was a “no fun” clause for mods. So the ones of you who plan on tearing me a new intestinal tract for posting pictures of AC Slater after Blade said AC Slater instead of AC Smith, I really don’t think your complaints are worth it. If you can’t sit back and laugh at a simple mistake, that says more about you than it does about me.

To be fair to the mods, we had a town mod kill, James inadvertently killed a townie and Level One killed a townie. We had quite a few people who didn’t turn in night actions that could’ve turned the game around in a big way.

If this game wasn't unbalanced then there is no such thing as an unbalanced mafia game. And to my horror - Jules our town role blocker was recruited which means townies who were recruited could also use their roles against the town.

Honestly, there couldn't have been a more unbalanced mafia game even if you tried. I would have ignored it because I did have fun w/ this game until the OP recruits but since we're sticking with the this game was balanced talking point, I figured I'd reiterate mine.

This game was made for the four different mafia teams, period. This all completely destroyed any town game. In fact, there was no incentive for anyone to even play for the town - we were ALL better off doing fuck all and just waiting and hoping that we'd be one of lucky ones recruited.

The one cop we had in this game was rendered useless even if he survived.

Terry Marvin Princess power is a BASTARD role that screwed over the town to the point where if he died at any point in the game, it would automatically put the town in a hole when the Mafia, SK, and Recruiters are bound to chip away at pro town numbers daily at a potential ratio of 3 per night.

The town lovers were another BASTARD role - that increased town losing TWO people at once, as they had a significantly higher chance of being killed or recruited neither of which helps the town.

You gave us a Town Santa Claus, great... assuming he doesn't gift one of the four scum factions, serial killers or townie you don't even know is a townie because he can be recruited at anytime.

A shrink that can't un recruit anyone - which I understand is OP - but it wouldn't be in this game. Also, rendered useless by the fact the shrink itself could be recruited. Okay, so the shrink can stop recruits IF they pick the right target. If AC Smith didn't actually know what he was doing, it'd be another role that wouldn't have much of an effect statistically speaking.

Town Oracle was great but still had a higher percentage of outing a fellow townie then catching scum leaving them vulnerable for a night kill or recruit.

We had a JOAT, great! A JOAT who as I understand it could have also been recruited and then use their bags of tricks against the town.

If you think my VIG kill on Blade is honestly reason why this game seemed unbalanced, your out of your goddamn mind. Also, if JamesV redirected a kill that was AIMED AT HIM - it doesn't mean he killed a townie, as if he didn't have the role he'd die anyways.

We killed TWO godfathers and it didn't even put town in a better position any longer than a night phase, as anyone on the Anti scum teams could Night Kill.

You want to know how the town wins this game?

Lynch BOTH of the recruiters within the first two day phases (day one 99% always ends in a no lynch); or hope that the SK only hits Anti Towners every night phase and for the Mafia to hit each other and any new recruits. Unfortunately, this is not realistic and thus not balanced or reasonable.

Anything short of those unrealistic scenarios, the town loses. It is unbalanced because there is nothing the town itself could have done to win. The only winning scenarios depending on an OP ANTI town fucking everything up.

EDIT - FYI - The game ending in the draw didn't make it anymore balanced, btw. It actually goes to show you how ridiculously OP this game is when you have eight players left and only two of them are townies... or the fact that 16 players were killed over the span of five game days. This game had a bunch of OP roles stacked on top of each other with no point or rhyme to it.

Please do not do this ever again.

I knew I was doing wrong picking RVD to begin with. They asked for 5 wrestlers, I sent one. The most obvious one to fit me...Level One should he is a beast at this game though and ripped shit for a good while. Good game, I followed it even after being killed. First time being Mafia too so I had a huge smile on my face.

My mistake? I had planned to recruit Sally or Jules that first Night. Then I wanted to try and frame Jennings because he was arguing with Last King. He blocked it or someone did and Last King got killed in his place. It worked but not in the way I went about doing it. I should have stuck with Recruiting experience and maybe not be someone who smokes more weed than I as a character...Shame!

I'm curious, if the word "town" was replaced with "free agent" would that have made that much of a difference? For what I understood (and Gooch can speak to this when he returns) I thought the plan was for everyone to build up a small team and see which of the 4 groups would win. I dont think it was ever meant for Town to "win", but the way day 2 went down, we were already out two factions. Obviously mafia games won't always go as envisioned. If you didn't enjoy the set up, I apologize as I had a hand in picking the majority of the roles, but I had fun seeing how everything played out.

Jules - Stone Cold – Hangover Roleblocker

You are Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Texas rattlesnake. You like to drink a few SteveWeisers and have a friend to do that with you. You’ll drink them under the table every night. You are the town Hangover Roleblocker, every night you send in a name and that player will be role blocked. You then decide a post restriction for that player to follow during the following day phase. The options are:1) Rhyme 2) Pig Latin 3) Yoda 4) Post an animated gif (not dirty) related to every post they make. You win when all threats to the town are eliminated



Sally - Chris Jericho – Watcher/ 1x Gladiator


You are the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla’, Chris Jericho. You are the town watcher, once a night you send in the name of a player and you learn what players, if any, targetted that player. You also have a 1x Gladiator role, during the day you PM the mods who you want to challenge. All votes will be wiped for the day and you or your target will be the only two eligible for a lynch that day. You win when all threats to the town are eliminated

Speede - Shawn Michaels – Town Doctor

You are Shawn Michaels, the Heartbreak Kid. You are the town doctor, once a night you send in the name of another player (not your own) for you to protect. If that player is targeted for death, they are treated as bullet proof. However, if they are targeted by more than one source, you only prevent the first attempt of the night. You win when all threats to the town are eliminated


Al Snow – Jack of all Trades

You are Al Snow. The Crown Prince of Hardcore. You are the town Jack of all Trades. You have several one shot abilities. Once a night, send in the name of your target and one of the following actions: (Cop, Watcher, Tracker, Doctor) You may only use one action once. If you have used them all, then the following night you may use one for a second time. If you wish to not use any action, please send us a PM letting us know. You win when all threats to the town are eliminated

Last King - CM Punk – Town Cop


You are CM Punk. You are the town cop, once a night you send in the name of the player and are informed if that player is town or not. Guilty is anti-town and innocent is town. You win when all threats to the town are eliminated


Level One - Edge - Tracker

You are the Rated R Superstar, Edge. Edge was known for being a slime ball, but brilliant in the ring.You are constantly searching for those who would make a bump in the night. You are the town tracker. Once a night you send in a player’s name and you will learn who that player targeted, if anyone. You will not know their action, however, just the target.

You are also a 1x Marshall (After a lynch can make this play and the day continues so there will be two lynches in one day. Roles aren’t revealed until after the second lynch) Edge knows how to get scum and if he thinks they’ve hit pay dirt, one time he can use this ability and see if they can go 2 for 2.

You win when all threats to the town are eliminated

Jace - Kane - Lie Detector


You are the Devil’s Favorite Demon, Kane. Through intimidation you will be able to find honesty. You are a town Lie-Detector. Once a night you can send me one quote Each night you select a statement made by another player and I will tell you if they are telling the truth (assuming that player knows it to be true or not). If neither true nor false I will respond with “I don’t know”. You win when all threats to the town are eliminated. You are Lovers with another character. If one of you is recruited, you both are recruited. If one of you dies, you both die. Take care of each other. You win when all threats to the town die.

Arn Anderson was known as the Enforcer. He protected his friends with a viciousness and mean streak rarely seen even in professional wrestling. You will be able to give out one “gift” a night and that gift will help the town. You will be able to give out a Gun, a Vest, a Polygraph, or a Stethoscope, thus giving someone a 1x night kill, 1x bulletproof, 1x lie detector, and 1x doctor that they can use as well as any other action they may have. You win when all threats to the town are eliminated

TMarv - Bret Hart - Beloved Princess - Glassmaker


Bret Hart was the heart and soul of the WWF during the mid-90’s. His being alive is very important to Mr. McMahon, even though that villain would never admit it. A Beloved Princess is a player who, upon death, causes the next Day phase to be skipped. You are also the town Glassmaker. with this role, you visit one person every night, that person receives a magnifying glass. A magnifying glass serves as a one-shot day cop action. You win when all threats to the town are eliminated

A.C. Smith - Ric Flair - Shrink


When it comes to charisma, Ric Flair is second to none. While someone may try to recruit someone to the mafia, Ric can target someone and talk them out of joining. The silver tongued, Nature Boy will keep the town strong by keeping players from being converted. Prevents one person from being converted each night. You win when all threats to the town are eliminated.

Jennings - Hulk Hogan - Town Ghoul

On screen, Hulk Hogan is one of the most beloved wrestlers in the history of the WWE. Behind the scenes is another story. Stories of his politics derailing careers run rampant, and this game is the same. He will get cheers on screen...but he’s all about winning the game. You will chooses someone at night, every night. If you are targeted by a killing role, that person will die instead. You win when all threats to the town are eliminated.

Blade - Doink the Clown - Oracle

Doink the Clown was known for his wicked practical jokes. In this game, he will have the greatest joke of all. Every Night you send in the name of someone you are using your “oracle” power on, this is NOT a visit. When you die, the person you used your oracle power on the previous night will have his character and role revealed in the write up. You win when all threats to the town are eliminated.

Yes, if you put Free Agent it would have made a difference but the problem lies within the four faction mafia fighting amongst each other. That's not my idea of Mafia. It's something that resembles it but it isn't Mafia.

All games need a town - it doesn't matter if you call the town a mafia but it needs a core of players who rely on information and day lynches rather than night kills. You get what you get the last two day phases with nobody having any incentive to speak when you don't have a town in the game and that is just boring as hell.

All factions should have had an equal opportunity to win - that wasn't done, so anyone playing for the town which we were lead to believe we should be playing for pretty much wasted their time with this game.

The game should always end with the town - I.E players who do not have QTs - are outnumbered. There should never be a scenario where the town is out numbered by the mafia or Anti Townies as the game should already be over.

Although it isn't standard for Mafia Games I believe that SK's are at a severe disadvantage because of their roles - so I've made it a habit to add a softer win condition for them - instead of outlasting ALL mafia and Town if they survive to the Final Four per say, they sole win. This is just me though and in standard game the rule does not apply.

Again, I was never mad about how the game turned out. I just wanted some acknowledgement about the balance issues so it does not occur again and I think we're there with that now.

I learned a lot about the game if it helps. I enjoyed it for what it was. Although if all roles would have been done correctly it might have made a little difference.

I'd like to thank Matt Stone for making this game run smoothly. He really did save the game on more than one occasion. I learned a lot from him and the things that went right were because of him. The things that are being complained about were on me.

To those who enjoyed the game, I'm glad you did. To those who didn't, hopefully the next person will do a better job than me.
