In watching the fights tonight(I'm about a half hour behind because I had the inlaws over) and who's in the front row laughing it up with Dana White? CM Punk...I know the guy is a big fan and does some training. It made me think, if he ever transitioned over like Brock, is there a fight you'd like to see him in?

He trains on occasion as Gracie Gym in CA. He has his picture taken with a few Graces and AL Bundy who also dabbles in Ju Jitsu (Awesome right?) I think with people like Punk, MMA wouldn't work for him. Not because he would have the skill but because it's a good time between fights and someone like him who came up in his skill through continuous work and matches and training, no off season, it just isn't his grounding. Plus who's to say he could turn his skill into MMA and be anything even decent? Ken Shamrock's career to me is more valuable in Pro Wrestling because he SUCKED in MMA.
Samoa Joe trained for MMA and stumbled into Pro Wrestling and liked it FOR the constant schedule. So its give or take for certain people but Punk was as crisp with his wrestling early so maybe like I'm sure a lot of people do in various sports, MMA training just helps get you in shape better for all sports. NFL players are training in MMA for the exorcize alone.
To play to the question though and I watched Fight Night, I watch every PPV/Event UFC does and have been watching since Pride but then I found out Pride fixed fights and almost turned my nose to it but with UFC (Not Bellator, garbage show and mixing with TNA is bad for MMA) I just like a good fight. Ground, standing, muay thai, I'm a fan. What weight class would Punk compete in? That would be a big question cause there are guys who drop 2 weight classes worth of weight to fight in a smaller class. Depends on the class.

I would imagine him as a middleweight

Yeah probably a good weight. Anderson Silva wouldn't be a good fight for him though, far too long. Weidman might work, maybe Sonnen when he drops to Middle weight. I wish Rashad Evans would drop to MW. I loved that guy for so long...

Dude!!! You did not say that Ken effin' Shamrock sucks!
To be fair, he has a VERY patchy win/loss record, but the man's a bloody legend. If you look at who he's lost to, it reads like a 'who's who' of badasses, and some of his victories are crazy impressive. Just, er, don't mention that one Dan Severn fight. Aside from numbers alone... he was never the most consistent or the most entertaining but he deserves his position amongst the greats.
I get where you're coming from, but you made me go all defensive anyway, haha. His wrestling career WAS awesome. He's forever one of the first CAWs I make in wrasslin' games (except the awesome Japanese ones where I don't have to) and his theme songs rocked.

I'd pay for GSP Vs. Punk! And I HATE Bisbing! When he got knocked out by Rua I believe? I jumped up and dance a jig! I was loving that shit!
As for Shamrock? Ehh...He was around for the early on rise of MMA but he's never beaten anyone worth of mention. Severn? Japan has a history of FIXING fights and you see FAR too many Wrestlers from Pro Wrestling in their MMA Cards. Rampage was one of the first guys who threw down the truth of Japanese MMA in that Promoters would fix fights and I believe that because of Fedor. He OWNED MMA in Japan and refused to come to UFC and got embarrassed in Strikeforce. He was a chump.
Shamrock was there in the beginning, he was one of the stars of the start of MMA but he didn't do shit worth shit. His "brother" adopted, was better than him overall. Ken should have remained in Wrestling. He gets a Hall of Fame bid in MMA because he was there at the beginning and was a name but that's where his success ends. Royce Gracie too, he was a dirty fucker in his prime. Pulling out folks hair, using his GI to help with submissions. I've never been a Gracie fan either other than the fact they work with the Diaz brothers who I LOVE the attitude of. Nick isn't so good in big fights but Nate is a stud!

Well seeing that there's a UFC Fight Night thread. I'll post this to say yesterday by e-mail, I received my UFC Fight Night ticket for the London, England event on the 8th March. Fuck yes I'm going two weeks after I've come back from Germany. Hyped as hell going to experience my second ever UFC event and to be apart of the best atmosphere I've ever been apart of in my life.
