THEN...
The scene opens with a video of Shadow talking to Ash at the Roadhouse. In the background, Devour the Day's "Good Man" begins to play. As Shadow speaks it fades to a scene of the original A.K.A. members, "Why do you think Assassin, Slade and I were in APW?" Stuff from their ancient history are shown first as Shadow conversion to voiceover continues on , "That place is haunted Old brawls melded into newer one, mixed with highlights of the last two Meltdowns.
"You've seen the kind of things that wander those halls..." He continues listing off each thing mixed with clips of the people he is referring to. Ghosts: Slade Craven is shown first emerging from a dark stone cavern on the side of an erupting volcano. Monsters: Cut to Shadow delivering the big boot to Zachariah Blood, then an immediate snap to Sentinel wailing on Shadow with a steel chair. Demons: Flashback to July when Shadow battled Leon Roberts. Robert's gets the pin, but Shadow still lays him out after the match. Aubrey J Parker. Two scenes are shown. First, her stalking Shadow in the gauntlet match, just before she attacks and second is Parker's initial chair assault backstage.
It cuts Shadow cutting his last promo as he stands there wearing some new black jeans and a bright shiny new pair of black boots. They look like biker boots. Of course, Shadow is wearing a new pair of sunglasses. No shirt. He raps his chest twice while talking shit but for the first time the viewer hears the words: Challenge accepted!
Next cut is immediately to Shadow and Sentinel in Hawaii. Just move after move from that match again. People see it all, every near fall followed by Shadow's chokeslam. Then to Zachariah Blood running out to the ring with a steal chair. Shadow hits the Spartan Kick and Blood crashes into the sand leaving a tail in the sand. Then we cut to Shadow smashing Sentinel's head on the barricade and finally the brawl across the beach, It ends with Unforgiven swinging Shadow into the ocean and running off.
"I'm a more primeval monster" This is a new scene. Shadow is working out in the hotel gym. Squatting down, Shadow's hands grip the bar. He lifts, brings the weight up to his chin, rotates his shoulders and pushes it up over his head with a fierce look on his face. The camera pulls back and we see large weights. Although people cannot see the numbers from this angle. They have to just guess. But for a guy Shadow's size, large is pretty big. On the tenth rep he slings the weight up over head and hurls it up stepping out from under it as it crashes to the ground. Shadow broke the floor.
NOW...
It was dark outside and the church was in the jungle. The place looked ominous. A low rumble echoes from the sky as faint rumbles in the clouds barely cast any light on the place. The only real light came from the headlights of Shadow's rental. He'd left it running. The beams struck the foliage, casting a ghostly set of shadows along the building. It gives an even more exotic feel to the spiritual undertone. Inside Shadow's car the rumble of the engine flows with the radio as Devour the Day's song is still playing.
Inside a church Shadow is on his knees praying. The sound of rain hitting stained glass fills the air. The camera pans round the dark pulpit and empty room. We see Shadow kneeling at the alter of the Lord. He's not a preaching, he's praying. Inside we get a close up of Shadow as he prays.
"Pull me from the darkness, life me back into the light. Fill this empty vessel, fill this hole I have inside. Am I worth forgiveness, I can't make myself believe; show me that You're listening and tear the Devil out of me."
Shadow had a lot to atone for. He'd given into wrath. It was bad, this whole ordeal HAD become personal. The thought that it would happened sickened him. Shadow sought forgiveness. He knew the kind of monster he could become. Darkness was a tricky road to walk, because it may not be innately evil, it still runs side by side with the worst. Shadow needed guidance. Sometimes he needed someone to light the way.
His apology was sincere, and he rises slowly and turns back to the entrance. Someone is standing in the doorway. Apparently a preacher lived onsite. For a moment Shadow worried the holy man had called the cops. After all, Shadow HAD broke in. The big man silently approached the shepherd to leave. He held his hands up as an offering peace. As Shadow' passed him, they made eye contact. Both men understood they sought the same thing. Shadow nodded apologetically for his disturbance and walks past the collection box. His giant hand crams a wad of bills into the box as Shadow walks by.
Back outside Shadow looks out over the jungle before he goes to take a step out into the rain. Then he pauses, as if he spots something. A smile spreads across Shadow's face as the sees the answer to his prayers. From that perspective we see it slowly approaches Shadow. Lightning flashes in the sky and the scene cuts to Shadow's eyes. They're fierce.
There ain't nothing more dangerous than a violent man who thinks he righteous. There is a good chance this thing will end bloody. Sentinel has brought it on himself though. I think if he could have beat me those times, he would have. I don't have to play nice. That asshole hit me with a chair and then chunked me into the ocean.
And Sentinel is nothing but evil. Him and the rest of that dungeon fetish faction. My job is to snuff out evil. If it comes to that, oh well Sentinel. You brought out the monster in me. Too bad I just aimed it at you.
Because I've been waiting for you Sentinel. I've been waiting for you for a long, LONG time. A physical rival. You're the closest thats ever come. Leon Roberts was close, but I still dropped him after out first encounter. Sentinel has eluded time and again. This time
however, I'm really throwing down.
And speaking of which, Kash, man. Sorry about the hotel room floor. Don't fine me, I'll cover the damage. Oh and while I'm off topic, Fuck you Raab. You don't have a damn clue what you're talking about. You're on borrowed time motherfucker.
Back to Sentinel. We have been going at it a couple months now. But that's why I love Asylum. longer resting point between matches. I already heal pretty quick so Im usually refreshed, just wait to you see how my leg is doing! And I have to say I've grown sick of looking at your ugly mug. Sentinel tonight it ends. Somewhere in that Coliseum, one of us will bury the other. And I will go down fighting if I have to. Sentinel you have caused me a great deal of stress and agony. Parker is obviously not paying you enough money to keep me off her back. Do you know why she hasn't paid you? Because you won't live long enough to spend it. Tonight I'm coming for you Sentinel. And you boyfriend can't save you. Do you really think anyone else is? Its just you, me and that big ass fucking building to beat each other all over to hell and back in. No place to hide and nowhere to run. Can you feel the realization?
To say it's been a pleasure would be a lie. But if it's any consolation to you. You have put a smile on my face. Because you gave me purpose, Sentinel. You showed me what I need to be to triumph over evil. You have been my greatest obstacle. After you nothing will stop me.
You have assaulted me, disrespected me and cost me money, I think I have every reason to be righteous. You really have no idea what you are walking into tonight Sentinel. I have not forgiven you and I will destroy you for it. And the best thing about it is I get to savor it because you can take it. So yes tonight will certainly not be quick, but I can assure you it will be painful.
Any last words?
