Fame.
It’s enough to drive anyone insane, even a man who has to fabricate every single ounce of it he gets, a man so delusional that in order to solidify the illusion he has to walk around calling himself the Main Attraction. It’s actually pretty sad if you think about it. This man believes himself to be one of the fucking celebrities that he so dearly worships. But he just doesn’t get it, doesn’t see how far out of touch with reality he really is. Young Mannie is so consumed with having the entire world love him, he doesn’t realize when the exact opposite has happened!
He is so starved for attention and fame that he allows the celebrities that his fried brain tells him are his friends to use him for nothing more than a publicity stunt. They don’t care about him. They don’t ACTUALLY desire to party with him. They see him as a way to expose their craft to a new audience and make a few extra dollars and that is absolutely it. But you can’t tell him that, oh no. People have tried to explain this extremely simple and obvious concept to him, but his stubborn streak refuses to allow him to believe anything but what he wants. Cause after all, his 6th grade education clearly is superior to the rest of the world!
Maybe it’s cause he’s smoked too damn much weed in his life and those brain cells that connect a man with the truth of a situation are dead in a ditch somewhere. Maybe it’s because he surrounds himself with “Yes” men who do nothing but pad his already over inflated ego and assure him that the lies that he holds dear to his heart are in fact TRUTHS. Maybe it’s just because he’s living in his own little world where he really is the big shot that he believes. Either way, it’s time for Young Mannie to come crashing back down to earth in a real fucking hurry.
This week, he gets the biggest reality check of his life. He wanted Fame… he wanted notoriety…he wanted attention? This week, he’s going to get all three, and none of it will be even the slightest bit positive. He’s garnered the attention of the APW Undisputed Champion and unwelcome attention at that. I will make Young Mannie the most famous failure to attempt to dethrone my claim to greatness that this world has ever before seen. He’s trying to end the reign of the Greatest APW Champion of all time… and he doesn’t have the slightest clue what he’s getting himself in for.
Tomorrow Night, Young Mannie learns that his yes men are doing nothing but holding him back, keeping him down, and preventing him from growing as an athlete and a person.
Tomorrow Night, Young Mannie learns exactly why I’ve held this prestigious title for over one calendar year, and why men so much more superior to him have tried and failed to knock me off my perch.
Tomorrow Night, Mannie gets what he’s always wanted. But it’s a case of becareful what you’ve wished for. Cause tomorrow night… I make Young Mannie famous for all the wrong reasons.
Fame is a bitch Mannie… one that you’re clearly not ready for!
The sounds potential attemtpiong to hone in their trade explode throughout the gymnasium that The Real Show Terry Marvin is attempting to build from scratch and make into something special. All around are young athletes, men and women, working on the skills to succeed in this sport. Terry’s found his after career calling. He loved dealing with young, hardworking talents, and nothing gave him more pride than seeing a student succeed.
“I know you think I’m being an absolute dickhead by the way I’ve been treating you Mannie… but that’s not my intention. Not in the least. On the contrary, I’m trying to instill a bit of my hard earned wisdom on you, trying to make you a better person and a better wrestler. Unfortunately, you’re too damn stupid to realize when the man who’s done everything there is to do in this sport is trying to help you out. Well Mannie, it’s time to shut your damn mouth, open your fucking ears and pay the fuck attention, cause I’m only gonna tell you this once.
You, Mannie, have everything it takes to be the biggest thing going in this business. You’ve got the charisma. You’ve got the talent. You’ve got the drive. But what you’re lacking, is somebody to kick you in the ass when you’re acting like a God Damned fool! That person is going to be me. Tomorrow Night, I’m going to teach you all about respect, all about being humble and graciously meeting your opponent on the field of battle without being an absolute douche bag. I’m going to humble your ass and show you that you are not the greatest thing since slice bread. And I’m going to painfully and physically point out each and every mistake you have in that flawless exterior you try to present.
I’m going to tear you down to the very basic particles of your being in hopes that you’ll take those lessons of mine and put them to good use and actually build yourself into something you can be proud of. Because this path you on right now… leads only to bitter disappointment for what’s left of your unsubstantial career. You can’t just blink your eyes and wish really hard and make yourself the best! But luckily a man who’s been the best for way too long now is going to point out every single spot where you’ve gone wrong.
See, I’ve gotten a lot out of this career, a lot out of this sport. And one thing I wanted to do near the end of it was give back… The best way I can think to do that is to mold and shape the young minds of this world. But slightly better is to do the fans of APW a favor and shut you’re yappy little mouth and knock some fucking sense into the Main Attraction!”
Terry stops for a second and shouts some instructions out to a few people training in the ring closest to him. They nod and head back to sparing. Terry turns back to the camera.
”Lemme make something really fucking clear to you Mannie. I am unarguably the greatest wrestler to ever set foot in a wrestling ring. There’s not a man active today that I haven’t defeated, not a goal I haven’t accomplished. And if you think for one second that I’m going to let some arrogant prick interfere with my swan song and allow the twilight of my career be dictated by some undeserving punk getting lucky on me… then you’re in for the crappiest day of your normally shitty life Tomorrow Night.
This APD Undisputed Championship has been held by some of the greatest to ever step foot in this business, to ever lace up a pair of boots: Biggs, CJ Gates, Sally Talfourd, Level One, Michael Lively, Kurt Noble. All people who would take one look at you and laugh their fucking asses off if told you were their next big challenge. All people who are bound for the Hall of Fame if they’re not already there. All people who have stepped up to the plate against God’s Gift To Wrestling and have failed miserably. All people that I hold in the highest respect.
I don’t respect you Mannie. I don’t respect who you are as a person. The type of man who will constantly use others to benefit themselves and just throw them away when they’re done is a man I have no use for in this world. It’s a man I used to be, so I know how easy it is to fall in that trap, but it’s a part of myself I despise. So it’s that part in you that I absolutely HATE!
I don’t’ respect you as a wrestler. A man who constantly drops the ball when called to rise to the occasion, a man who’s been handed his ass by Jason Kash over and over and over without getting even a single ounce of revenge, a man who’s greatest accomplishment was stealing the North American Championship and losing it as soon as he possibly could, is not a man I can respect professionally. You disgrace this sport every time you talk yourself up then march into that ring and fall flat on your fucking face. You treat it like a stepping stone to fame and attention. You think Wrestling is your personal bitch tool to be used however you wish. But you’re talking about this entity that I LOVE, that I’ve given everything too. You’re talking about a sport that makes me who I am. NOBODY who disrespects all I’ve helped to build will earn my respect.
If you’ve got a problem with that Mannie, your chance is tomorrow Night at Asylum. Feel free to walk in there and EARN my respect. But don’t stand there and fucking DEMAND it like you’re some legendary hero. Step outside your own inflated mind for a second and take a good look at yourself. You’ll see the helpless little boy that the rest of the world sees instead of this picture perfect image you’ve painted yourself as. Then you’ll finally understand why NOBODY who means anything takes you seriously, why nobody worth their salt respects you. You want respect… FORCE ME TO GIVE IT TO YOU!”
Terry’s face is intense as he motions his hand back to his class of people in the gym.
”These students of mine have all earned my respect, have all earned their place here. These students are the future of this sport. Not because they’re the most talented in the world. Not because they’re flashy and know how to attract sponsors. But because they’re going into this thing with the proper amount of drive, and the right fucking attitude. They’re looking at wrestling like a dream come true, not like some rich uncle that owes them some sort of handout. They’re ready to earn their place
Are you ready to earn yours?
Tomorrow night I show you what it means to be a champion. What it means to be the best in the world. Tomorrow night I show you why YOU ARE NOT READY.
Young Mannie, you’re simply just another name to cross off my list as I ride towards One Night in Hell, where hopefully… there’s people WORTHY of my time waiting for me.
Get Ready Mannie… ITS SHOWTIME!”
The scene slowly fades to black.
