Nah, you don't know me
Lightning above and a fire below me
You cannot catch me, cannot hold me
You cannot stop, much less control me
••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“Nobody wanna’ talk. Everybody with closed lips, blind sight. There’s someone, somebody who saw that shit and yet REFUSE to speak up.”
“Yeah, they know that common phrase that “Snitches Get Stitches.” They’re not risking their livelihood for two cents of information. What’s gone is gone.”
Sucking teeth, an expression of a foul mood on my face. This search was no use. No one was going to submit any information, even if money was involved. It wasn’t worth the time spent within a burial grounds site. There wasn’t much hope left to finding the bastards who burned down the upcoming wrestling school and recreational center where the likes of many, including myself spent a chunk of time there. It’s a shame but it is however reality.
I decided to call my boy Pookie up as I was stuck in neutral. Since I was back home for the short time, I figured it would only be right. It wasn’t like the first meeting in which it was at random. I had called him up to come meet me at one of the local outside eateries.
“Just let it go, J’. The revenge ain’t worth the price. You’ve told me how beneficial it was to keeping you out of these streets. The guy took you under and gave you the best training. I get it but is it worth getting killed over?”
Pookie knew me better than anyone else. He knew every one of my facial expressions and he could see right through my brain and know what I was thinking. I suddenly just dropped my head and had let out somewhat of an angry sigh.
“Nah, it isn’t worth it but with what that man has gone through to build it for the youth. Souls like me who are lost, looking to be found. That place was for them. It was also a place for professionals to come and hone their skills. It was state-of-the-art, man. It’s just something you can’t just let go off the bat. If I find out who did it ... Ooohhhh...”
“Exactly, “Oooohhhh” is about all you’re going to say and do. You are a high-profile dude now. Making money, living the life you dreamed of years ago. You have everything to lose, so you better think right before acting.”
Another sigh escaped as I threw my hands up in the air.
“Let me ask you man, how would you feel if you came how to a house burned down. Your property, your items, all down the creek. How would you feel inside?”
He pondered the thought for a moment, rolling his fist inside his hand.
“If I found out a motherfucker had something to do with burning my shit down. I’d kill them. Endangering my family too! No doubt about it!”
I began to crack a slight smile.
“Aight then! So why should it be a different scenario between me and you?”
“Simply because. I have nothing. I got a basic ass ‘nine-to-five’ job, just enough to pay the bills. I’m not famous, I can’t afford the expensive clothes, champagne. I got dreams too but shit. You have no sources, no help, it’s kind of hard. You got in with sources, you were taken under one’s wing and look at you. You are doing well. You’re gonna risk killing a mofo for your career? I wouldn’t if I were you.”
“Eh, guess you right again!”
I nodded with agreement as he did have yet another solid point. I just shook my head as I began to rise up from the seat. I glanced down at my watch, looking at the time.
“Damn, time gettin’ away. I gotta reach Juan!”
I looked back at Pookie, as he got up and extended his arm.
“Aight lil’ homie. I’ll see you again! Don’t just come on special occasions when you need answers. Swing by on the norm’. Take it easy.”
Smacking his hand as we did our signature handshake, I nodded my head.
“I’ll surely do that man. Never meant to use you as my ‘Answering Ball’. But appreciate your thoughts anyway. Later bruh!”

THIRTY-FIVE MINUTES LATER

“Sorry for lateness, I had met up with an old friend.”
Walking up to Ramirez, I was little off time from the time he said to meet him up. It seemed pretty urgent so it was a reason for the apologetic opening line.
“Not a problem man. Look, I think I might be onto something. I sat down and thought about it all week. When you lose that much money, there is no way to ‘sleep it off’.”
Juan rose up off the front fender of his Chevrolet Camaro. He pointed to his head as he began to smile.
“I thought about it. I wondered to myself who would be that damn envious and not to mention “dumb” enough to have that big of a ballsack to burn down a wrestling school. No, it’s none of my in-ring foe’s. However I got a sneaky suspicion it’s somebody from my past life.”
My eyes widened as I looked at Juan.
“But I thought ... you said they were all gone.”
He nodded his head.
“Before dude died, he had a huge line of recruits. He gave it to the next man in line before all was said and done. They do know who I am and are still ‘sweating’ my decision to do a 180-rollout from that life of dealing.”
“Which means...”
Juan nodded his head.
“They are out for my head. They haven’t forgot nor will they ever. I happened to sit down and think about it and that came rolling out as a possible idea.”
I wiped my face with my right hand as I shook my head in disbelief.
“You would think that they would be over your decision to leave. While it earned you some cashflow, after a few years dealing, it’s time to go your own way.”
“Yeah but you know how it is, Jair. In that life, there aren’t many ways out of it. You can’t just say “I Quit!” and think all will be ‘peaches and cream’. It’s a short window and I got out just at the deadline of that window closing. You on the other hand, you got really fucking lucky.”
I nodded my head, not even lying on that.
“He was a bitch. Alot of barking, no walking. You are definitely right about that. I was lucky. The ball rolled well for me and that’s when you picked me up and showed me there was more in life than dealing drugs on the corner. It wasn’t worth it.”
Juan began to smirk.
“I know talent when I see it bro. I walked in your footsteps. I know the result in the end. I got out but hell, to this day, they are still out for my head. I could be wrong, but I have a strong feeling, that gut feeling, ya’ know?”
Nodding my head, I understood.
“I understand. Nothing like that gut-feeling. You know where they at?”
“Meh, they move around constantly. Will be hard to pick them up. They around here though. I just gotta’ move on because if I go hunting them down, I’d be on my third strike and out of commission.”
“But bruh, they took down your hard-earned money. They destroyed your foundation. They gotta’ pay.”
Juan pointed up as he looked over at me.
“The higher man above me will take care of that. Trust!”
“True that! So I heard from Kash that you had him down in a sweltering dungeon, sweating profusely. At least he got one hell of a work out in, huh?”
“Yeah he did. That man doesn’t stop when determined. It wasn’t the best place but the ‘Golden Boy Wrestling School’ is in a state of flux. We roll wherever there is space, ya feel me? Been looking at a few spots beyond here, much bigger than before. It’ll be back up on the map, different locale so hopefully there won’t be a re-run of this episode.”
“Hopefully not. It’ll definitely have that new car smell. As long as the troubled kids, teens can have a place to remain active while not being a wild child. Also vets, newcomers will have their serenity and peace while training, keeping their skills up to par. It was a great establishment.”
Twirling his keyring around on his index finger, he tosses them up in the air before catching them.
“Hop in man, I’ll drop you off where you need to be.”
I smiled upon that suggestion.
“That’d be legit. I ain’t far from here at the Marriott. Get me early rest and be ready to catch flight. Thanks Juan!”
Closing his door and putting on his seatbelt, he started up.
“Not a problem!”
Pulling off, the very heavy bass in the motor was heard as Juan ‘spun off’ leaving a light trail of smoke. All soon came to a fade.

I bet if I was suffering from Hypertension, I’d be dead by now with all the bad shit I’m rolling through.
I’m sure for some, it would be very ‘pleasing’ to them to see me out of sight, heh.
I’ve been quiet the ‘quiet one’. I’ve stayed on my level, doing my thing, trying to just bypass all the craziness but after what took place on Overdrive, I’m fucking through. If it isn’t me trying to find out who’s the culprit behind burning my boy’s place down, it’s me wondering who is going to put the crevices of their boot to my jaw.
The quiet can only sit in silence for so long before cracking up like worn-out asphalt.
Unforgiven, you’ve done all you can to reach under my skin. Obviously you’ve done your scouting. You know what I’m like when riled up. I can be unfocused, I can overlook and overthink. I am liable to break rules, disqualifying myself. You two have scouted very well.
You know how ‘wild’ I can be when truly motivated. You’ve seen me at my best and at my worst. You’ve been terrorizing the ‘Breed’ and others like NextGen and a few others for the longest. You smell blood and you want to strike with every chance given. It’s what you gotta’ do when you’re trying to survive. I totally get it. But there is times when you become predictable, your traits get seen and from there, it’s all over. You’ve had your shots.
You took out my partner, my homie, my family. You just couldn’t resist. I had to be surprised with a tag team partner and thankfully Brian Hollywood was there to lend a hand because I’m sure if it was a two on one, I’d be done for in a fighting effort. However his help lead us to a victory over you two at Overdrive. While it was a moment to celebrate, it was short-lived because of you two. You felt taking out Bailey, it was only right to finish the job and take me out as well.
Job well done fellas. Now if you’re finished taking shots, it’s time payback gets delivered.
I never get much time to lick on my wounds and heal. I have to run a fast break and go to the next. From Overdrive, right to Asylum. From Unforgiven to Reaver. From brute force to insanity, I guess you can say the good kind of insanity.
Knuckles, Reaver, whatever the hell you intend to call yourself ... We’ve gone through alot. It’s only our second time going against each other in singles competition. We’ve battled many times in tag, fought like hell in that one singles contest and it was enough to even lose sleep over thanks to going through one shitty catastrophic dream that included you. Yeah, you were a hot topic, still is. You’re a champion and doing it well.
It’s a champion versus champion. Who’s the better champion? It’s hard to tell after only one meeting. For two, it’s even harder if the winless get a win. It’s a tug of war.
I’m not going to lie, Knux’ ... shit is very hectic right now on my end. I’m losing sanity. As much as I want to commit one hundred percent of my focus on you, I’m afraid it’s going to be less on you and more on Unforgiven. They’ve made themselves noticeable and I gotta keep my eyes wide open at all times. I want our fight to be a clean contest but again, the possibilities that can happen.
It’s not long ago you and Jason Kash were the likes of Unforgiven. You despised me and Anthony but later down the road, you realized that no matter how much hate you have for us, sooner or later, the word “respect” will come to light. Since then, we’ve turned heads, we’ve resolved conflict and while we may not be the bestest of friends, we respect each other.
Unforgiven, they will learn the hard way too. It’s just a matter of time. For now though, Reaver. It’s just me and you. Putting our all on the line for the folks who pay to watch us “kill” each other in the ring. You’ve been in this biz’ long enough, I respect your hustle. While you have a crazy, insane personality, you are legit.
My tone in this contest, I’m unsure of. I could be calm like a bomb or I could explode like one. Aggressive-minded isn’t really the road I want to take but thanks to a certain team, they’ve killed that vibe of mines. Who the fuck knows what’s going to happen Reaver. We just have to prep for the best and the worst, don’t we?
See you soon, buddy! Let’s go out there and give it all we got!
