Lavage: Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the Mandy Lavage Pro Wrestling Podcast, brought to you by Big Kahuna Burger… “That’s that Hawaiian burger joint”.
Our special guest today, comes to us from one of the most distinguished professional wrestling companies in not only North America, but all of the world. He’s a former two time Xtreme Champion, as well as a former World Heavyweight Champion. He along with the rest of Action Packed Wrestling’s Megastars, will be performing this Thursday night live from Yokohama, Japan at the Yokohama Arena for Thursday night Overdrive. If you don’t know who I’m talking about yet, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Enforcer of Sorrow himself, Nathaniel Havok. Nathaniel, welcome to the show, and it’s an absolute honor to have you on the air with us today.
Havok: Thank you for having me on the show today, the pleasure is all mine, Mandy. Although, while I’m sure that APW doesn’t mind a little bit more publicity, they might have my head if they found out that I was on another podcast, that WASN’T the APW Podcast.
Lavage: I’m sure they won’t mind. I’m sure that you’re going to be putting in plenty of cheap plugs for them today, on the show.
Havok: You know, APW is kind of going through a tough time right now. If you ask me, they need all the cheap plugs they can get. I mean, yeah… We’re the highest grossing professional wrestling company in North America, and we’re not as bad as SOME promotions, letting guys go after they’ve spent MONTHS on the shelf with broken necks for “budgetary reasons”. However, we have seen our fair share of “retirements” and “I quits”, lately.
Lavage: You would include yourself in that too, wouldn’t you? I mean, you did leave APW for around a month, as your contract expired. However, some people said that all of that was just a part of the storyline, and that you were actually finalizing a new deal. Some people say that you just took some time off, and that you weren’t really suspended.
Havok: You can’t possibly believe everything that you read or hear, Mandy. Nine times out of ten, whatever the marks are saying on the internet, isn’t going to be the case. In my situation, I WAS suspended, and I didn’t have negotiations until a few days before I returned. I wasn’t interested in coming back, but I knew that I HAD to come back.
Lavage: Why’d you have to come back?
Havok: I’m not trying to rip anybody off by saying this, because there has been a similar situation in the past, in another North American wrestling promotion. But I wanted things to change in APW. I wanted a change that’s been coming for a while now, a change that many people might not understand, but they need nevertheless. APW is my home, and I’m tired of watching the promotion slowly implode from the inside out. I can’t change anything about APW if I’m wrestling in Sin City Wrestling, I can’t do anything for the fans of APW sitting at home in Indianapolis. I have to be wrestling IN AND FOR Action Packed Wrestling, to help change Action Packed Wrestling.
Lavage: And what needs changed in Action Packed Wrestling?
Havok: Management. Plain and simple, management needs a change. We’ve slowly started to see that change these days, and things seem to be getting a little better. You might not see it, but not all changes have to do with entertaining the audience, or making the show better itself. A lot of the changes that need to be made in APW, are for the locker room itself.
Lavage: So you find yourself back in Action Packed Wrestling, the same company you had left a month before. Since your return, it hasn't really been something out of a fairytale, has it? It's been a rocky road since you've been back, there's no denying that. A feud with Joseph Johnson, beating him in your return at the pay per view. Be it in an indecisive fashion, you did defeat him, and a win by any other name is still a win. From there, it just seems like you've not had any good luck, up until last week, that is. You single-handedly forced Joseph Johnson to retire from Action Packed Wrestling, and professional wrestling altogether. It was a brutal match that saw you on the offensive pretty much from start to finish. A dominant showing, if there ever was one. I believe us marks call that a “squash match”. Nevertheless, with that feud out of the way, and with Joseph Johnson now gone from APW, what's next for the Enforcer of Sorrow?
Havok: Next is Leon Roberts, what else? APW puts the obstacles in front of me, and I try my best to knock them down.
Lavage: Try your best? That doesn’t sound like the confident words of a former World Heavyweight Champion.
Havok: I say “try my best”, because it’s obvious that here lately, I haven’t been doing so well. You see, a few weeks back, I made fun of Jason Kash for “gaining a few extra pounds” while he had some time off. What I didn’t realize at the time was that I too had gained a bit of weight. However, my weight was in rust. His weight was in fat, something I don’t have. However, I think I proved last Thursday night on Overdrive, that the rust is pretty much gone. Nathaniel Havok is back, and I will be as dominant as I ever was. I have a new goal, a new focus. Be it a similar focus as before, it’s still a focus. And believe me, I’m determined to see this through, and have myself come out on top. That means though, that I have to back up what I say. Which, I do indeed plan on doing.
Yes, since my return, things haven’t looked so well. But that all changed, the minute I found out about “Joseph Johnson”. My rage went from revenge on Hurricane Jeff and Action Packed Wrestling, all the way to revenge on Hurricane Jeff and Action Packed Wrestling.
Lavage: Wait, you just said the same thing twice?
Havok: Are you stating, or asking?
Lavage: Stating, I guess.
Havok: You guess, HA! See, this is what’s wrong with sports journalism today. Too much uncertainty, too much editing, too much drama in the words that people say. The drama should take place in the ring, not sitting here with some blonde bimbo who probably can’t even spell the word “bimbo”!
Yes, Mandy. I said it twice. But the revenge I seek this time, is for different reasons. Before, revenge was about righting wrongs. And in many ways, it actually still is. However, now, revenge is also about misuse! It’s about business, being able to draw money, but being underutilized. Instead of main eventing, I’m reduced to feuding with identity thieves? I’m reduced to opening matches? Nathaniel Havok is reduced to low-card status? What I did to the fake Joseph Johnson was righting a wrong. A travesty, it was… Hurricane Jeff signing that lackluster talent to an APW exclusive contract, without even knowing the real Joseph Johnson. Man, that guy made APW look stupid, didn’t he? Well have no fear, Nathaniel Havok is here to save the day, and right these wrongs! You see, over the past few months, APW has struggled, and there have been only a few constants in the locker room. You can very-well say that Nathaniel Havok hasn’t been one of them. However, with a new found motivation, with the determination that goes along with it, I’m going to do what has to be done. For the greater good of Action Packed Wrestling, as well as the greater good of the fans who watch the product.
Take this coming week, for example. Whoever the hell it is that books this garbage we call a wrestling show, has decided that I should face Leon Roberts. Now, when I was running around under a mask as Tuhoa Valo, I had a run-in with Roberts. It was explainable back then. I pretty much did exactly what Nancy Haberdasher did. They had no clue who I was, I made up a fake story, and they bought it. However, I wasn’t claiming to be someone that actually existed elsewhere. I made up a gimmick, I brought it to the table, and they signed me. After that, it was up to me to find a way to reveal to the world that I was really Nathaniel Havok. But Johnson did the opposite. He took someone else’s hard work, claimed it was his own, and made a fool out of APW. That’s the kind of stuff that I stuck around to fix. That’s the kind of stuff that APW as a whole cannot and will not tolerate.
But as far as Leon Roberts goes, I’m not going to deny the fact that he’s a decent wrestler. Problem is, he’s a TAG TEAM wrestler. A tag team wrestler, who should stick to tag team wrestling. Me, the Enforcer of Sorrow? I’m a singles wrestler. I’ve spent the majority of my career, wrestling singles matches. I’m as experienced in the singles atmosphere as they come. My stamina will without question, outlast that of Leon Roberts. You can play the “power verses speed and agility” card all that you want to. But there is much more riding on this match, than just a David and Goliath like nature. Yeah, the guy is probably one of the most powerful men in the locker room, no doubt about it. However, I AM the most powerful MIND in the locker room! What I’m capable of, nobody else can say the same about themselves. I’ve proven it before, and I’m out to prove that Nathaniel Havok HAS NOT lost his way. I’m the same son of a bitch that I was, when I became the APW World Heavyweight Champion. I’m the same son of a bitch I was, when I beat Sally Talfourd down for turning her back on me! And most importantly, I’m the same son of a bitch I was, when I held Action Packed Wrestling hostage, nearly owning the damn place in the process!
I’ve made it a goal to throw claims of irrelevancy and names like “has-been” out the window. My motivation is to give the product a facelift, a freshened feel, if you will. It started with the fake Joseph Johnson. The fire he ignited was only the beginning. There’s far more to what I’ve got planned in my mind. And while most plans do have their “bumps in the road”, or never really come out the way they ARE planned, my determination this time around will make sure that this plan is executed with flawless precision. I have a new found lease on life, and if I have to try and overtake Action Packed Wrestling again to get what I want, then that’s what I’ll do! I hope it won’t come to that, but if it does, bet your ass that I’ll be willing to take on the task! And all of this continues this week, Mandy. Leon Roberts and his tag team wrestling skills, will get into the ring with Nathaniel Havok, who will bring his singles wrestling skills. Now, you tell me… Who do you think has the advantage?
Lavage: I’m sure that Roberts has a singles match or two under his belt. I’m willing to bet as a professional, he knows what he’s getting himself into. But if you ask my opinion, from what I know about the two of you, I’d say that it’s a tossup. Both of you have your strengths, and both of you have your weaknesses. I honestly believe, in my not-so expert opinion, that it might come down to who can take advantage of a sour situation during the match. But like I said, I’m no expert on in-ring competition. You go out there every night and do it for a living. I sit behind a computer monitor with a microphone in front of me and talk about it. So that’s just one of several opinions.
Havok: Calling this match a “tossup” is like calling Jason Kash an in-ring technician… You just can’t do it while maintaining a straight face. This match is no tossup, Mandy. This match is going to go down the way I say that it’s going to go down. Leon Roberts is going to step into that ring with the Enforcer of Sorrow, and he’s going to get pinned, or he’s going to submit! He might be able to bench press more than I can, he might be able to do a pull up or two more than I can. I might be able to run circles around him on a treadmill, or do a few more steps than him on a Stairmaster. But where it all comes to a boil, is in the fact that Nathaniel Havok is used to situations like these. Leon Roberts has never stepped into the ring and went one on one with someone like Nathaniel Havok. I plan on exploiting that, exploiting him, and bringing myself back to the ranks of the main event! It doesn’t matter who I have to go through, what I have to do to them, or what underhanded tactics that I might have to use to benefit myself. In one fashion or another, Nathaniel Havok is going to run through Leon Roberts. He’s going to beat Leon Roberts, and anyone else who gets in his way.
I’m not going to sit here and say that this match is going to be easy. I know that I’m in for one hell of a fight on Thursday. I know that Japan is expecting a true wrestling contest, and that’s what they’re going to get. Leon Roberts is going to kick my ass, Mandy! But, you know what? I’m going to kick his ass, as well! But not only will I kick his ass, like he’s going to kick my ass, but I’m going to be the one leaving Yokohama with the victory. When Leon Roberts leaves Yokohama, he’s going to leave a loser! Leon Roberts, as well as the rest of Action Packed Wrestling, they’re all in for a big surprise, at the hands of the Enforcer of Sorrow. I’m done playing games, done waiting for things to change around APW. It’s time for me to take action, to lead by example, and hope that others follow in my footsteps. It’s sad that so far, I’m the only one with balls big enough to speak up, and still stick around. Yeah, I did my time. I got suspended; I went somewhere else for a little while. But I came back, and had the balls to show my face, where others left without a word!
This business, that company, it’s my life! My life, my reason for living, and my livelihood. When those around me start messing with my livelihood, I begin to get defensive. And right now, I’m as defensive as I’ve ever been, as dangerous as I’ve ever been too, because of it! When you back a man into a corner, when you force him down and threaten his livelihood… You’d be surprised what a single man is capable of, at that point. I’ve been brought to that point, and I’m damn sick and tired of sitting around and watching all of this unfold! I’m determined to do something about it, and Leon Roberts is just another victim on my way to proving this point, and making the changes that need to be made. Are there changes that need to be made at the top of the APW food chain? As far as the titles go, no, there’s not. We have an amazing Heavyweight and Undisputed division, with talent that no other promotion can offer. But with that title, comes power. With that power, comes defiance that is noted and adhered to!
I will run through APW talent, until I get exactly what I want. I want that Undisputed Championship, I want the Level-Ones of APW! I want the C.J. Gates, I want the Biggs, and I want the Sally Talfourds! I want them all, and I will run through them all! If you don’t believe me, watch what happens to Leon Roberts! Watch what I do to this tag team wrestler, and imagine what it will be like, when a real singles competitor like Lester Only, goes one on one with Nathaniel Havok. Lester has ducked me for years, and for good reason. It’s because Lester knows what I can do in that ring. I’m sure Leon knows, and Leon will soon find out! But he’s only the starting point, it’s far from over, Mandy! I will continue with the Leon Roberts type, until management has no choice but to continue my escalation back to the top. If they don’t adhere, I will just continue to cripple their so-called “Megastars”, until they’re left with absolutely no choice. They want me to eat shit and like the taste of it, because of what I did? That’s fine, I’ll play by the rules. However, I’ll only play by their rules for so long. Soon enough, they’re going to be forced to play by my rules, if you get what I’m saying. And this Thursday night in Japan, I’ll give them a small sample. I’ll show them how to play by my rules, while I run over one of their “big men”, in Leon Roberts. I hope you’re watching, because it’s going to be a great night for my agenda!
Lavage: It’s time for us to wrap things up, here. We have to take a quick commercial break to pay the bills, and you’ve got a flight to catch. Mr. Havok, thank you for coming onto the show today, and good luck in your match Thursday night. Lavage: It’s time for us to wrap things up, here. We have to take a quick commercial break to pay the bills, and you’ve got a flight to catch. Mr. Havok, thank you for coming onto the show today, and good luck in your match Thursday night. Action Packed Wrestling is live from the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan for Thursday night Overdrive. Don’t miss it!
