For anyone who has a PS3 or is thinking about getting one, here's a tip, and I learned this the hard way. When turning off the PS3, do not flip the switch in the back of the PS3 right away, make sure you hold the PS button on your controler and select the turn system off setting before flipping the switch in the back. Flipping the switch right away can cause (maybe not right away but eventually) for your hard drive to be corrupted. Resulting in not being able to load up the PS3. Theres a solution to this, I was lucky enough to find it and save my PS3 and all my data.
If this happens to anyone, let me know and I'll help ya fix the problem

My cousin told me to always do that when I first got my PS3. His got messed up when he just flipped the switch so he warned me not to do it.

Level-One's PS3 tip... ...buy an X-box 360. Much better You say that until you get the red ring of death. My friend has gone through 3 360's and I'm still using my 20GB now updated 500GB PS3. Works fine, I flip the switch off every once in awhile, but only when the HDD isn't blinking. You can't do it when it's blinking or it'll mess things up. Like I did that during Resistance 2 and corrupted my stuff, but other than that no loss to anything else. But usually I turned the PS3 off first and then flip the switch but whatever. Catch me playin' Call of Duty or NBA Live 09.

Funny thing is, my brother owns the PS3 bought it around the same time as I did my X-box; it can't read disks anymore. I had the PS2; and it did the same exact shit. A lot of money wasted on that one, so I bought the X-box. The brick lasted me much longer. And trust me, I didn't do anything to break the PS2/3 either; nothing worse then waking up one day, putting a disk in, and the shit refuses to read it out of the blue.

Systems are weird. I've never really had any problems with any of mine. Hell, I still use my SNES and it works like brand new and I got it when it first came out. But anyways, having your system die on you is just bad luck. I've heard stories like the one Jesse mention, someone going through 3 X-boxes and I heard the same thing about PS3's.
I just hope my PS3 last forever, or until the PS4 comes out

I love my SNES. I've had it for years and it still works like a charm. Catch me on Call of Dut Waw.

To get the PS2 to read discs again is really simple, nothing wrong with the system or the discs, its just that the PS2 is dusty. Open the PS2 get rubbing alcohol and some swabs and gently clean where you see dust. Screw everything back in and you're good.
