The History of Rasslemania Part 1
The Unofficial Rasslemania 1 The idea of Rasslemania all began back in 2001. Two wrestling fans had a dream; a dream of wrestling. Those two fans were President Jeff (AKA Hurricane Jeff) and Dr. Matt. Not trained, and not knowing how to get trained, these two kids decided to make their own dream come true. After finding some other inspiring wrestlers, Jeff and Matt opened up a backyard fed known as UWF: a federation which was basically a parody of WWE with hillbilly gimmicks with a few exceptions. Matt and Jeff started out with a bad guy superhero gimmick, though they eventually became good guys and fan favourites. But one night, Matt turned on Hurricane Jeff, forming a NWO type group called the nUo. One night, in a Battle Royal match which ended in a Hell in a Cell Ladder match, Jeff and Matt were the final two wrestlers. The match ended with Jeff falling off the cell and Matt getting the championship belt, becoming the new UWF champion. All this led to the first ever match between Matt and Jeff and it took place at UWF Rasslemania. Matt defended the UWF Championship against Jeff in a No DQ match. During the epic and brutal battle, the nUo came out to help Matt, but Matt wanted to win on his own. The nUo turned on Matt, and Jeff, not one to let someone else ruin a good match, helped drive the faction from the ring. With no more distractions, the two men continued their fight, which ended with Hurricane Jeff hitting the HurraDriver on Matt from the top rope. Hurricane Jeff walked out of Rasslemania with both the UWF Championship and with a new teammate in Matt. Since UWF was a backyard fed, UWF Rasslemania isn’t recognized as a pro wrestling event. And soon after, Matt and Jeff got trained into being pro wrestlers and soon after, Hurricane Jeff opens his own company, Combat Wrestling Federation where a dream became a reality. The History of Rasslemania, Part 2 The Official Rasslemania 1 On December 31st, 2002, Hurricane Jeff opened up Combat Wrestling Federation (CWF). The first week of February, CWF had its first show. 2 shows a week and 1 PPV a month was how CWF worked, then later on Branching off to 3 shows a week. But one event that was coming up was Rasslemania 1. The event was set to take place on March 30th, 2003. So with 2 months to get ready for it, CWF had a lot to do. But the time came and history was made at this event and starts we’re made. This event set the future of CWF. Some of the APW superstars too part in this event. The very first Rasslemania match was; RVD with Ice at his side taking on Shadre. Why is this match mentioned? Its because Ice is known here in APW as Fyre Angel. Fyre Angel went on to be huge success in CWF. Building up the Womens division against what was her biggest Rival, Nasty Gurl, having Cage and Ladder matches against her in brutal matches for the Women’s title. The second match had Raging Ryan taking on Damien. Raging Ryan made quick work of Damien beating him in just a couple of minutes. (I think Raging Ryan is known in APW as Razor Ryan). Our third match was a special one. It had APW’s Graphic Designer, Dr. Matt, taking on an up and rising CWF star who went on to be CWF’s biggest star, Matt Metal for the Xtreme Title that Matt Metal held. This match was hyped as a TLC 3 falls match. A 2 out of 3 falls match where first fall was a chair match. The 2nd fall was a tables match and the 3rd fall if needed was a Ladder match. The semi main event featured Hurricane Jeff taking on Chris Jericho in a no DQ match. This match was one of the best CWF matches at the time. These two fought all over the arena and backstage. These two have been feuding for the past month and this feud lasted until CWF had its last show. The main event had the champion, Rocky Starr take on Alternativ. Alternativ is Hurricane Jeff’s mentor. Rocky and Alt are no strangers to each other by the time of this meting. These two battled each other in previous feds so at the time this was a huge match in which Alternative walked out the winner. But a few weeks after, Alt suffered a knee injury and being forced to vacate the world title. A match at CWF’s April PPV had a Rasslemania rematch between Dr. Matt and Matt Metal where Matt Metal would come out Victorious and Metal would go on to hold the World title for 5 months and by the time CWF would close, Metal held the CWF world title 4 times. That’s all for Rasslemania 1. Tune in next week for CWF Rasslemania 2, the last ever CWF PPV. The History of Rasslemania, Part 3 The Official Rasslemania 2 Rasslemania 2 took place on March 14, 2004 at the Sky dome in Toronto Ontario Canada in front of CWF’s biggest crowd in history, 79,521 fans. Little did everyone know at the time, this was going to be CWF’s last PPV and a farewell show took place just a few weeks later before CWF closed its doors. A jammed packed card with 10 matches, 5 title matches and some of the biggest rivalries battled it out. “Angels and Insects” By Papa Roach was the theme song for Rasslemania 2 and while the intro video was playing, Papa Roach was there live performing the song. Once all that was done, it was time for start the event off. The opening match had 8 people in it. It was a Turmoil match to determine the number 1 contender for the Xtreme Title. The match is simple, 2 guys start, after one is defeated, the next guy comes out and so on until there’s 1 man left and he’s the winner. The final two guys we’re D2K (Known as Jason Royce in APW) and a guy by the name of Homeboy. Homeboy had just finished defeating 2 other guys when D2K came in as the last man to enter the match. After a near pinfall by D2K, Homeboy was able to battle back and hit his finisher for the win. D2K was able to go to the Farewell and compete for the Xtreme title and came out on top, being a 5 time Xtreme Champion and the last ever CWF Xtreme Champion The next match of the night was a fatal 4 way for the #1 contender ship for the women’s title. The Only honorable mention for this match was a women by the name of ICE (Known as Fyre Angel in APW). ICE was one of the top female wrestlers that came through the doors of CWF and she proved it when she defeated 3 other women to become the #1 contender for the womens title. Ice then went on to the Farewell show and defeated Jamie Lee to become a 3 time CWF womens champion and the last CWF Womens champ. The next two matches we’re the Tag Team and Xtreme Title matches. Default was able to beat Hawk to become the new Xtreme Champion while John Cena and Destruction we’re able to retain the Tag team title from TRU Death. The next match was a ladder match between Hurricane Jeff and Chris Jericho. These two fought at Rasslemania 1 with Jericho winning, then the following month they fought in a Last Man Standing match which Hurricane Jeff won, and through out the year, these two had problems with each other . At one point it ended until the CWF carnage PPV when Hurricane Jeff made a shocking return in the Royal Rumble match going straight after Jericho, eliminating both himself and Jericho which lead to this match. A back and forth battle where it look that Hurricane Jeff had this match won, but then Jericho’s tag team partner, Christian came to the ring and got involved. At one point it looked like HJ was able to battle both men, but in the end, the duo was just too much for Jeff to handle as Jericho defeated Hurricane Jeff. The next match had Dr. Matt take on a man by the name of Andy McHeyman. A match that was a year in the making and it was taking place in a Classic Steel Cage (Those blue cages that WWF had). A Hard hitting brutal match that tested both mens limit. But there could only be one winner and 2 Stunners later, Dr. Matt pinned the Giant, Andy McHeyman to win the match. The next match was the CWF womens title match between the champion, Fallen Angel taking on Jamie Lee. Fallen Angel went into this match as the longest reigning Women’s champion, holding on to the title for 5 months. And an exciting match it was but in the end, Jamie Lee was able to his her finisher and end Fallen Angels reign as the Womens champion. The next match was the finals of a Combat Title tournament which featured The Career Killer, Trevor Blackwell and Drake Frost. This was Trevor’s chance to move up in the ranks from being known as an Xtreme champion. Frost did everything he could to win. Even at one point taking out the brass knuckles and knocking out Trevor, but Trevor kicked out. But the beating was too much for Trevor as Drake Frost picked up the win and walked out the new Combat Champ. The Semi Main Event was the third meeting between these two guys. Matt Metal taking on Alternativ. These two battled for the CWF world title over the Summer with their first meeting ending in a double DQ, their second meeting, Matt Metal retained the title. This time around, no titles involved and this was billed as a Pure Wrestling Match which ended with Alternativ using the ropes to gain the pin fall. And now finally, the main event. The Champion Twister taking on the man who won a Royal Rumble just 2 month prior, Glove Guy. Before the match started, it was made into a No DQ match. A see saw battle, near pin falls but in the end, Twister hits the Wind Breaker and walks still the CWF champion and Rasslemania 2 comes to an end, being arugbly the best CWF PPV ever. Next week is the final instalment of the History of Rasslemania leading to Rasslemania 4. For full Results of Rasslemania 2, check on the link below. groups.msn.com/CWFclassic/rasslemania2.msnw

The History of Rasslemania, Part 4 The Official Rasslemania 3 Rasslemania 3 was different than the other Rasslemania. It was the first time that a Rasslemania event took place in May. It was the first time that an official Rasslmania took place outside CWF. And it was also the first time that a Rasslemania event wasn’t booked by Hurricane Jeff. The event took place in a fed called World Wrestling Competition. About 2 months after CWF shut its doors, Hurricane Jeff started up WWC. Almost all of the CWF roster jumped over to WWC. 2 Months after opening it, Hurricane Jeff gave the fed away to Twister. Hurricane Jeff would later be a full time competitor for the company. Rasslemania 3 took place at the staples center in LA. The show kicked off with a performance by Green Day, who performed the Rasslemania 3 theme song, “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.” The show kicked off with a Hardcore match where we saw Glove Guy retain the Hardcore Title from Dustin Taylor. The next match fetured a current APW Star. Diana Steel and Spirit sucessfully defended their tag titles against Andy McHeyman and DXC. The 3rd match was a triple threat match that had two APW stars in it. Nightshade (AKA Tony Blackwell Vs Trevor Blackwell Vs Steven James. Trevor was able to pick up his first Rasslemania victory by pinning Steven James after hitting the Full Throttle. The next match was a ladder match for the Intercontinental title. Blake Steel defended his title against former champ, Martin J. Singer and the man who was so close to main event this event, Damien Darko. MJS was able to pick up the win after hitting the Money Maker on Darko on the ladder and after the match, their stable, S.I.N comes down to the ring to celebrate and MJS turns on his partner, Andy McHeyman. The next match had what was the best CWF wrestler and arguably WWC wrestler who has never main evented Rasslemania. Matt Metal as he takes on the Rookie. Stryker. A back and forth match where the Rookie pushed Matt Metal to his limit, but in the end, Matt Metal picks up the victory. The next match was a Legend Vs Legend match. Dr. Matt faced off against Twister in what was a great back and forth battle where Dr. Matt came out on top. Both men leave the ring to a standing ovation. And now our main event between the champion, Bryan Dyamond and Hurricane Jeff in a Hardcore In Hell Match. This would be the last ever Hardcore in Hell match until Trevor and Kristina had one in APW. Let me take you back to the pervious WWC PPV called Spring Break.. The third match of the night had Hurricane Jeff take on his mentor, Alternativ inside a steel cage. These guys battled all over the arena before getting in the cage and in the end, Hurricane Jeff pulled out the victory. A Passing of the Torch. The Semi Main event was a Hell in a Cell Ladder match that had Matt Metal defend his title against Bryan Dyamond. These two went to hell and back in this one, but Bryan picked up the win and became the WWC world champ. The main event was a 20 man royal rumble. The winner would be #1 contender for the World Title and to fight at Rasslemania 3 for it. Hurricane Jeff was the 20th person to be in this match. The final 3 had Jeff, Damien Darko and Stryker. Darko and Jeff we’re on the ring apron with Stryker in the ring. Stryker runs at them and they lift Sryker from in the ring and to the floor. Jeff then dodges an attack from Darko and hits an Eye of the Hurricane off Darko to the floor. HJ kept his feet in the air as Darko’s hit the ground and Hurricane Jeff for the first time is officially main eventing a Rasslemania. So leading up to this match, Hurricane Jeff guaranteed that if he we’re to lose to Bryan, he would quit WWC for ever. So now its match time and both guys nearly kill each other in this Hardcore in Hell match. The most brutal match in WWC history and in both mens career. The Table from Hell was set up and Bryan set up Jeff to put him through the table, Jeff counters with a HurraDriver through the table. A C4 was set up on the table. There was glass, metal and thumbtacs on it. After going through the table, Jeff barley gets his arm across Bryan and Jeff picks up the win and become the WWC World Champion. So there you have it. The History of Rasslemania. Rasslemania 4 plans on being better than ever as it airs on March 30th. You don’t want to miss Rasslemania 4 because it will be something special.
