“Last time on The Gotham Chronicles: The New Dark Knight”
The Gotham Knight was in the middle of his promo for HcW when he gets a police call.
The sound of a radio is heard from the belt of the Gotham Knight.
Woman 1: "9-1-1- what is the emergency?"
Woman 2: "Oh my God! I need your help, a man has broken into my house with a shotgun and he killed my husband! I have my two kids with me in my basement but I do not know how long until he comes down here! Somebody help us!"
With that the Gotham Knight stands up and runs away from the camera as the voices from the radio disappear along with him. The camera automatically shuts off.
Episode Two
“The Gotham Chronicles: The Headless Gunman”
The Gotham Knight runs away from the camera he was using and jumps down from a flight of stairs. He spreads his cape out to safely glide him down to the bottom where his black motorcycle sits. He puts a key into the ignition and then rides off. He heads toward two doors that lead out of the abandon warehouse. Gotham Knight presses a button on his bike and the doors automatically swing open. He flies out of the warehouse into the night to answer his calling.
Daughter: "Mommy I’m scared."
In this room is more like a basement inside a lit house. A mother with her son and daughter sit down on the floor in the corner of the dark basement as quiet as they can be as they whisper to one another. Her children seem to be under the age of ten and very terrified of the situation. Noises of materials and valuables being destroyed could be heard from upstairs. A man screaming could be heard also going through the house as he looks for the woman and her two kids.
Mother: "Don’t worry baby, mommy has called the police and they are on their way as fast as they could."
Son: "Is dad really dead?"
The mother begins to cry, she does not really know if her husband is dead. She assumes the worse out of things since her husband has not been seen or heard from in the last ten minutes. The mother is also worried that the man causing harm to her family will get to them before the police show up. The police station is an hour drive from here as they live outside the city.
Mother: "I don’t know."
What else could she tell her children at this moment? She has already said he was dead without her knowing. Could she tell her children that she was lying? Could she really play with her emotions at this time of need? Luckily for her though her situation between the man finding them is taking so long as her family lives in a large house. She is holding onto her children while praying to God that nothing worse happens to them.
Back upstairs, the man has made his way into the kitchen. This man is dressed in a business suit as if he is ready for a meeting at the office. He is a white man who seems to be in his early thirties he has blood scattered all over his suit and face. He has brown hair and is about six feet tall. His tie is hanging loosely around his neck as he carries a pump-action shotgun in his hands. The man kicks over a chair by the kitchen counter.
Man: "Where are you Mary!? Come out here! I just want to talk!"
The man walks over to the refrigerator and pulls out a carton of milk.
Man: "We can talk this over some milk and cookies!"
The man laughs to himself as he drinks from the carton of milk and then tosses it at a wall across the room. He wipes his mouth from the milk that was left over on his lips. The man walks out of the kitchen and back into the family room.
Man: "MARY!"
The man shoots into the air toward the ceiling. The ceiling now has a large hole while it crumbles down on top of the man. He could hear screams coming from behind a door. He walks over to the door and examines it for a moment. Downstairs in the basement the mother has her hands over the children’s mouths as she tries not to scream herself. Her children and she are shaking with fear. Outside the sound of a motorcycle in the back of her house could be heard stopping. She looks up toward a tiny window and she sees a pair of black boots walking past the window. She closes her eyes and continues to pray.
The door leading to the basement from inside the house is blasted open. The mother and her kids scream. A light from inside the house shines down into the basement.
Man: "Mary. I know you are down here!"
The man reaches toward the side and flips the light switch on for the basement. The basement lights up. The man walks downstairs while reloading his shotgun. The steps below his feet squeak with every step he takes. As he reaches the basement he looks around and at first he does not notice the mother and the two kids sitting on the floor in the corner. But as he takes another glance around, he sees them and points the shotgun toward them.
Man: "Get up Mary. GET THE FUCK UP!"
The mother does as she is told and rises up to her feet. Her kids do the same. She puts the kids behind her.
Man: "I didn’t know you two had kids. It’s gonna be fucking sad that they are gonna have to live on with the rest of their lives without having mommy and daddy there. Move away from your mom you little brats."
Son: "No!"
Man: "I SAID MOVE YOU LITTLE BASTARD!"
Mother: "JUST DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU!"
The kids are hesitant at first, but the boy grabs his sister’s hand and takes her a few steps away from their mother. The man gives a chuckle.
Man: "Any last words Mary before your fucking brains are splattered all over the fucking place?"
Mother: "Kids, I love you."
The man laughs and raises the shotgun up; suddenly the lights go out in the house. It has seemed that there is a power outage.
Man: "What the fuck? Mary stay there!"
The man shoots to where Mary stood, but luckily as the lights went out she moved out of his sight. She grabbed her kids and hid them behind the washer and dryer. Mary runs up the stairs out of the basement. The man sees this and rushes after her. As he gets to the top he sees that the whole house is dark, he flips a light switch but no luck.
Man: "Mary, where are you? If you don’t come out right now, both your kids are going with you to Hell!"
Gotham Knight: "Not if I send you there first."
The man turns around and looks up the stairs leading to the second story. He sees Gotham Knight flying toward him with a drop kick that sends both of them to the floor. The shotgun goes across the room. Gotham Knight is first to his feet but the man sweeps him down with a kick. Gotham Knight falls back to the floor as the man looks for the gun. Knight jumps back up though and grabs the man by his shoulder and helps him up, only to receive a fist full to his face. Gotham Knight holds his nose as the man throws punches toward Gotham Knight. Knight blocks most the punches and decides to throw a few of his own landing all of them.
The man screams as he tries to fight back but Gotham Knight is just too quick for him as he dodges the blows and sends a series of kicks to the man. The man flies back and hits a wall, sliding down toward the floor. As he is seated down he notices the shotgun on the floor next to him. Gotham Knight realizes this and kicks the shotgun up into the air before the man grabs it. The man though sends a rising uppercut to the Gotham Knight and catches the shotgun. He pumps the shotgun as he screams at the top of his lungs while he aims it at the Gotham Knight.
Gotham Knight punches up from underneath the gun as the shotgun aims under the chin of the man as a round blasts off accidently when the man pulls the trigger. Gotham Knight covers his body with his cape. A few seconds he looks on as he sees a body without a head lying on the floor. Blood is everywhere in the room. He looks down at the body not knowing what to feel, but he then could hear footsteps from upstairs. He turns around to see the woman who was being chased. She walks down cautiously staring at the man who was trying to kill her now dead himself. She walks over to the Gotham Knight.
Mother: "Thank you for saving me and my children."
Gotham Knight stands there just staring at the woman.
Mother: "If it weren’t for you, we would be dead... Did you by chance see my husband?"
Gotham Knight wants to tell her what he saw laying on the ground outside the house, but he cannot find a way to say it. Instead he looks down away from her, not looking into her eyes. But she knows what that means. She starts to burst out in tears crying for her dead husband. She wraps her arms around the Gotham Knight as her tears fall down from his suit. Gotham Knight looks over toward the basement door and could see the two children staring at him, now with tears down their eyes.
Police sirens are heard from outside as flashing lights of red and blue fill the house through the front windows. Gotham Knight slowly lifts the lady off of him and takes her to her children. Her children reach out to hug her as then she hugs them. She looks back at the Gotham Knight who is no longer there. The mother could then hear the sound of a motorcycle coming from her open backyard leaving the area as police smash open the door with guns out.
Meanwhile back to the Gotham Knight. He is now seen entering his window into his apartment. He turns around to shut the window behind him and then back to the middle of the room where a string of beads hangs. He pulls the string but nothing happens, but a clicking noise could be heard. Gotham Knight has forgotten that the light bulb has burned out. As of right now his paycheck has not yet been given to him yet. Gotham Knight walks toward his closet and opens it up as he begins to undress himself. He hangs his suit on a hanger and places his mask back on the shelf.
He then takes off his black muscle shirt and tosses it to the pile of dirty laundry that is starting to pile up in a corner. He puts on some comfortable shorts and then walks to his bed. He gets down on the floor and reaches underneath his bed. He pulls out a shoe box. He opens the shoebox and inside are letters, four movie tickets, a packet of matches, a N.Y.P.D. badge, a picture of a group of kids in front of a building, a notebook, and a pencil.
He pulls out the notebook and the pencil and closes the shoe box and puts it back underneath the bed. He climbs up into bed and sits at the edge. He opens the notebook and flips through the pages until he reaches the next open space. Gotham Knight dates the page at the upper right hand corner.
Monday August 11, 2009
Tonight was another one of those nights. This time I didn’t really know how to handle the situation. Two men died at my hands this night once more. Though it was one man who killed an innocent man, I feel responsible for his death as I wasn’t there to prevent it. I want to help protect people like I believe my father did in his life. But I do not want to be the cause of pain in the victim’s family. When that woman asked me if her husband was still alive. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that I saw her husband lying outside in front of her house with his guts hanging out of his body from the shotgun. To make things worse, her children were there to witness Gotham Knight delivering the deadly news of their father being murdered tonight. Though what I did tonight to handle what was given to me, I feel was the best way.
I can’t help but feel I could have done more though. I didn’t even say a word to even try to comfort the family. I have the feeling that the blood that was loss tonight was because of me and not because of that mad man. How much more could I take of innocent lives being taken away under my watch? I wish I knew the answer to my own questions sometimes. But I know one thing for certain is that no matter how difficult these times progress I must never quit on New York City civilians. I must never quit in their memory.
Gotham Knight
With that Gotham Knight closes the notebook and puts it on the end table along with the pencil with the Batman manual. He lies down in his bed and rests his head on the pillow in the shadow of his room for he needs the rest for the next night out.
The image seen above is seen across the screen. Gotham Knight seems to be back in the same location where he left his video recorder before he had the emergency to attend to. This time he is closer to the camera staring directly into the lens.
Gotham Knight: "Last week in my match against Mr. Strange didn’t go quite the way I wanted. Perhaps if I knew that it was going to be at a gas station with fire involved I might have gotten more prepared. But none of that matters any longer. This week I am told that it will take place in an actual ring where fighting like a man will actually occur. They who run HcW have decided to put me in a tag team match."
"I do not know why they decide to put Captain Insanity in my corner. That is just another distraction I must look after in my match again Tigris and Draven. For this time I would like to win a match for my paycheck and I would hate to find myself at the losing end because of a so called partner. Like in my mission in life I rather work alone and I would like to keep it that way so Captain Insanity as long as you stay out of my way, I promise you that no harm will be done to you at my own hands."
"Tigris I’m not one for throwing welcome back parties, but I can tell right now that Wednesday night you will be having a blast when I knock you out from between the ropes. You are right though, I am new here in this wrestling organization. So I do not know much about you besides the information on your portfolio on EWC.com. Even that does not tell me much of your career. As far as I’ve read your Veteran status hasn’t prove much of anything besides staying in the business for a long time. You may have experience, but nothing great in the record books. You’re just an average old woman trying to get back to her youthful days, back to when the men used to whistle for you when you came down the ramp toward the ring."
"Nobody was excited for your return Tigris, not even Draven. Nobody is worried about what Tigris Escarlet might do to them if they get in the ring with her because she did nothing back her first time here. For me being a so called rookie in your eyes does not intimidate me for a second. And for your threat of using tables, ladders, and chairs does nothing but make me laugh at your pathetic attempt of fear into your victim’s heads. I was set on fire last week; steel and wood are the least of my worries in this business sweetheart. But if it is a fight you seek it is a fight you will find when you step into the ring with the Gotham Knight."
"Alexander, I don’t think I understand your comments made from earlier. Are you referring to me and Insanity as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dipshit or Tigris and your attempt of a bad ass gimmick? I’m glad you don’t find me humorous Draven as I am not meant to be the joker in this life. I’m not here to do birthday parties for kids making balloon animals and squirting water from a flower, I am here for one simple thing and that is the paycheck the owner signs to me. I am not here to deal with the injustice that takes place in HcW, even though it seems like Masterson and Thornback could use some help."
"Draven you preach to me that you take out the lowest form of scum in this world, but yet you have yet to take out the lowest scum in the EwC, yourself. You reek of beer and sorrow that your soul will never be cleansed of all the sins and injustice you have committed in your lifetime. My mental state is by far more complicated than one Alexander Draven. You said it yourself Draven, I dress up as a bat pretending to be a fictional character. My normal life is the life you see before you. I have no name, no birthday, no face, no voice, no dreams, nothing but the questions I have as I continue searching for the answers that are hidden within the shadows of my past."
"Draven for wish I could die and end this madness that I call my life, but I simply cannot for I am already dead. I am nothing but a breathing lifeless shadow in the night. For with that I only ask you and Tigris. Are you ready to step into my shadow?"
Gotham Knight looks down toward the ground. The camera cuts off the footage. Around the belt of Gotham Knight comes in a police call.
Woman: "Calling in all units, there is a murder scene involving two victims in Central Park. All patrolling police officers in that area, report there immediately."
Gotham Knight looks back up toward the video recorder as this episode ends.
