Japan. Shadow has not been here in years. One of his earlier matches, while he was still green, took place in Japan. However, after that match he just so happened to spend most of his time in other countries. In Japan the men wrestled for honor. Honor, something Shadow possessed. Unlike that pompous little prick, Biggs. There was no other way to word it, the Tokyo Dome was not big enough for the battle that was about to take place under its roof. On one side of the ring Shadow and his tag team partner would be fighting for something prestigious, and on the other, Biggs and his little bitch boyfriend would be fighting for themselves. Honor, it was a quality they would never possess. Shadow wished that this could have been settled a long time ago, however after everything Biggs was able to slip out of his grasp. Shockwave was going perfectly, then Biggs fell one way and Shadow fell another. At the Overdrive, both before One night in Hell and Shockwave, Shadow was able to give Biggs a little taste of what a true champion could do. Even with the odds stacked against them Slade and Shadow were able to come out on top. But Shockwave was a fluke, a moment that everyone has once in their life and could not be repeated if you tried a thousand times. Shadow was tired. He spent weeks, months, listening to Biggs running his mouth, the insults and self proclaimed glory rants from someone who was a disgrace to the tights they put on every night. Shadow was pacing in the A.K.A’s office. Despite all these things that weighed on his mind, he was thinking about something else. Slade Craven we back to Texas, immediately after Overdrive Slade flew back over seas to go to his old club. Shadow still was without a back story. He had never heard of Bete Noir\, or Rorschach. He would have to ask Slade about it, after the match tonight. But Slade was still not here. His flight arrived that morning but no one had seen him anywhere. Shadow began to worry that he might actually have to handle these two on his own.
Shadow: Come on man, where you at?
He gazed down at his watch, where the time slowly ticked away. If Slade was not here within one hour, he would not be allowed to wrestle. You had to be at the arena exactly three hours prior to show time otherwise you couldn’t get air time. Only in cases of extreme circumstances was that allowed. Craven didn’t ‘have’ to go back to Texas, it was his choice. There was not a death in the family or a terrible accident, just theories. So Craven flew home and Shadow was left holding the time bomb. He sits now in the A.K.A’s office waiting for Cindy Shannon or Shane West, one of them is set to host an interview with the big guy. Craven was also scheduled to air an interview, however it looked like he might not make it. As Shadow sits there drumming his fingers on the cheap table where Slade, Assassin and he would play cards, Shadow wondered what tonight’s outcome would be. He could only speculate as to what tricks Biggs and Cyrus would attempt in order to overcome their greatest challenge here in A.P.W.
Shadow: Come on, come on. Where are you at?
His eyes return to his watch. The seconds falling away. Three seconds pass by. Usually that is all it would ever take. Not tonight though. Tonight somebody, two some-bodies had to climb a ladder and retrieve the Overdrive and Xtreme titles from the dangling cables above the ring. In doing so one team would walk out with both titles. There are no pin falls, no tapping out. Shadow could quite decimate Biggs to the point of not walking and win the match. It was a thought that kept gnawing on Shadow’s mind. The more he thought about it the more he liked it. That would be the perfect way to teach Biggs a lesson in manners and who actually should be champion. Then Shadow’s head snapped up. He stopped drumming his fingers and looked to the Office door.
Shadow: Come in.
Cindy Shannon opens the door walking in looking stunning. She has on a long black dress and her hair let down She has a microphone in her hand and as she crosses the room, her sway is almost hypnotizing.
Shadow: Wow, you look amazing.
Cindy: Thank you Shadow.
She stops about half way across the office. Her eyes darting around as she realizes that they are alone.
Cindy: Where is Slade?
Shadow: No idea. He was supposed to be here a few hours ago.
Cindy: He knows about the dead line doesn’t he?
Shadow: Yes, he does. His flight arrive this morning. I don’t know where he is. No one has heard from him.
Cindy: What about the hotel?
Shadow: I left the hotel a few hours ago, he hadn’t shown up there. I don’t see why he would go there. If I were him I would have come straight here. We got just got our official A.K.A. Hammocks in, and it wouldn’t take too much to get them set up. If he needed sleep he could rest here, Craven knows this.
Cindy: Well the camera man is on his way. When he gets here we can conduct the interview.
Shadow: That’s fine.
He looks down at his wrist watch for the third time in the past few minutes.
Cindy: Shadow, Slade has never no showed in his life. I highly doubt he will start tonight. Do you know why he went back to Texas after Overdrive last week?
Shadow: Short answer ‘yes’ with an ‘if,’ long answer ‘no’ with a ‘but.’
Cindy: What do you mean?
Shadow: Yes, if you saw Overdrive last week he gave the summery as to why he needed to travel. No but I have an idea because I was there at Overdrive when Craven kind of freaked out.
Cindy: Shadow, he has a past you don’t know about?
Shadow: I met Slade in the summer of 2002 Cindy. He and I started wrestling together then. What happened before then, I know some of. I know his wrestling career. But Assassin has known Craven since Slade was in middle school. That says a lot Cindy. Assassin was around Slade in his darker days as it has been listed. A time when Slade was a different person, a time he said he was over. Turns out he was wrong. A year ago Slade was attacked and he had to dig into his past. I remember that, but it didn’t amount to much, now, after all this crap, now he has to dig a little deeper. I wish I had the answers, but I don’t. the only person who does, that I am certain does I mean, is Slade himself.
Cindy: And if only he would get here sooner.
Shadow: You have no idea.
Another knock at the door is heard as Shadow motions for the camera man to enter the office. He is feeding his line through the doorway. Its kind of remarkable how everyone pretty much has gotten it through their head that the invisible walls are invisible.
Shadow: Alright we ready to do this thing?
He claps his hands together and Cindy feigns a smile. Both are uneasy about Slade not being here. She walks closer to Shadow as he stands up and runs his hands through his hair. Then he picks up his leather jacket, puts it on, pulls out a pair of sunglasses and places those over his eyes. Shadow is ready. The cameraman takes his camera and holds up his hand to begin the countdown. At the count of one he points to Cindy.
Cindy: Shadow! We are live at the Tokyo Dome anxiously awaiting the start of A.P.W’s One Night in Hell! Tonight you get your long awaited chance at redemption. You can take back the A.P.W. Overdrive championship and end your war with Biggs. Tonight inside a Double Title tag team ladder match you and your tag partner Slade Craven will attempt to silence the Axis of Awesome once and for all. There are so many questions, I don’t know where to begin.
Shadow: Well Cindy, let me just give you some answers then. That way I address any question you have or might develop after this interview is over. Lets talk about the match itself before we talk about my “ESTEEMED” opponents. A tag team ladder match. That is something I can say I have been in only one other time in my career. However back then it was for the tag team titles not two separate singles belts. So this, in a way, is a first for me. Now, as the belts loom over that ring, ready to be snatched away from the Axis only one thing really remains to be said. Why in God’s name did Max Carter make such a confusing and cluster hump of a match for two thirds of A.P.W’s titles? Well it is for two very simple reasons. This is because Biggs cannot help but try to slither out of a match if there is a chance to be disqualified. Since he did so in my official rematch for the Overdrive championship, Max Carter decided, in the interest of fairness, that Biggs and I must fight again in a match where he cannot cheat to win. This match has only one limit, your own imagination. Secondly, Max Carter made this match because Biggs has a knack for screwing people over when his boy toy is in trouble. When Chris Cyrus cannot get the job done Biggs rushes in to ‘save the day.’ And to keep Biggs from sneaking in to interfere with Slade’s chance at the Xtreme championship, max just decided to throw us all into the volcano and watch it erupt.
He pauses briefly to take a deep breath
Shadow: Biggs is that wonderful kind of guy that I have gotten to the point of not wanting to insult. I want to help Biggs now. I want to help ease his burdens. Pride is a hell of thing, it weighs him down. That and guilt. Both of those things are going to hold Biggs back. If he truly wants to repent I will offer my assistance. He can repent and I will absolve him of his sins. He will pay for his crimes, that cannot be avoided but when it is finished then he no longer be troubled by what he has done. I offer Biggs the opportunity to take my hand and be free of his pain. All he has to do is endure a little more. Well, no matter what decision he makes, he will suffer. The choice as to whether or not we end this thing is ultimately up to him. This war has gone on long enough. Battles have been won and lost, and now its time to end this. I will leave One Night in Hell the Overdrive champion once again.
Cindy: What do you have to say about Biggs’ comments on your old title reign.
Shadow: I was accused of being a paper champion. But truth be told is no one earned a title shot. John Green, Mr. Strange were the only two who ever received a title shot while I was champion yes. But could Biggs actually take down those two? I know for a fact Biggs lost to Mr. Strange for his first chance to win the Overdrive title, I was there, insulting him the entire way. As for John Green, that was the biggest challenge I was ever presented with. Facing the longwinded, never-ending, filibuster style commentary vomiting John Green. I was verbally attacked and criticized by Biggs because I aside from those two matches I was sent out to wipe out new superstars. President Jeff put me in match after match against rookies who never came back or showed up period. Did I enjoy that Cindy, no not in the least. Despite Biggs being the biggest annoyance in my life I have enjoyed our little game. It’s been fun and a challenge. Having to take down that special needs giant he calls a friend, that was a challenge and I over came it. Decimating Cyrus, winning the handicap match and the eight man tag match, those two things pushed me to the limit, even the cage match at shockwave was fun. Now its time for the game to come to an end. No more playing around. Tonight I will claim that belt and show Biggs what a true champion will really do for the people.
Cindy: What is that Shadow?
Shadow: Whatever it takes.
Cindy: And Chris Cyrus? How do you feel about him being in this match?
Shadow: Cindy, Cyrus is the weak link in that faction. How he has managed to win matches staggers me. I mean I know how he ‘beat’ Slade. Biggs rushed down the ramp with a child’s toy and tried to burn someone alive. Craven would have set Cyrus on fire, however things would not have gotten out of hand. We are sensible men Cindy, as opposed to Biggs and Cyrus. They tried to murder Slade, and I can’t speak for him but I am certain there will be some form of retribution Cyrus won the special Olympics gold on how to stumble and screw up a match so badly that he actually was able to win. Whenever Cyrus wrestles its like looking into an alternate universe where the more you hurt yourself the better you do. Cyrus is the biggest accident to ever happen to this industry Cindy. His hatred of himself and self pity are the things that carry him through his own purgatory.
Cindy: What does that mean?
Shadow: Cyrus could have lost that belt at any time he wanted. But by some form of retard magic he was able to set off a mouse trap then trip as the final shot came down on the person whipping his ass. Then Cyrus would stumble, step on a rake, smack himself in the face and fall on top of his opponent. After this series of astronomically possible events takes place he thinks he won. Its embarrassing to know Cyrus has held that belt for damn near a year. Now its time for that chapter to come to a close. When this match is over Cindy no amount of slapstick event humor will result in Cyrus to walk out of the Tokyo Dome the A.P.W. Xtreme champion. He has to prove his worth tonight, otherwise Slade and I will squash the little hope he ever has of being somebody. Biggs and Cyrus will learn something tonight Cindy, they will learn what happens when they decide to grab the Big Dog’s tail. You get bit, Cindy. Tonight all the games end, the war ends. I will finish what I started a long time ago and I will give the people the moment they have been waiting on, the end of Biggs’ reign as Overdrive champion!.
Cindy: And what about your tag partner?
Shadow is caught off guard. He didn’t think she would actually ask that question. Shadow takes a moment to lean his head back, to hide the fact he does not want to, nor know how to answer the question.
Shadow: Slade has his own things to say.
Cindy: And where is he?
The big man rubs his jaw with a little frustration. He doesn’t know what to say. This is how reporters get famous, stumping the people they interview with the hints of a scandal. Shadow doesn’t know what to say at all.
Cindy: Shadow? Where is Slade?

The camera whips around to show Slade Craven standing in the doorway to the A.K.A’s office with his wrestling bag slung over his shoulder. He has a smile on his face and his sunglasses on as well. Craven walks into the office as a sigh escapes Shadow’s lips.

The camera remains on Slade as he begins his interview and Shadow takes a step back, relieved that Slade finally arrived at the Tokyo Dome.
