It’s a warm summer day in Tacoma Washington. The scene opens up outside the Tacoma dome, the sight for Mayhem this Sunday. Standing in front of the building is the number one contender for the APW Overdrive Title, Mark Moment. Mark is wearing cargo shorts with a Mayhem T-Shirt and has sun glasses on his face. Mark paces in front of the arena with the APW cameras recording him. Mark paces back and forth before stopping and looks into the camera.
Mark: Its finally here. APW Mayhem 2010. I’ve been waiting a month for this event. Overdrive Championship match, Hellfire verses Mark Moment. A match that’s been brewing up since Rasslemania. A match could elevate our careers. On one side of the ring, you got Hellfire. A man who from his first day in APW has been making a name for himself. Coming in, weeks before Rasslemania, winning a contendership match and then winning the Overdrive Title in his 2nd match. And then going on to being ranked number 1 in APW. And then you got me, the challenger. A man who has been gunning for that title since January. A man who was inches away from winning the title at Rasslemania. A man who is now more determined than ever to win his first APW Championship.
You see, after Rasslemania, when I didn’t win the Overdrive Title, I’ll admit, I was disappointed in myself. That night, I went back to my hotel room, sat on the edge of my bed and replayed the ending to the ladder match in my head for hours. Think to myself what I could have done to win it. What could have I done different. The thought went through my mind that this was my one shot and being called the best. My one shot at really being someone. And at Rasslemania of all places. But as the day passed, it was time to regroup. I couldn’t dwell on that loss. I had to keep my head high and do my best. And that’s when I got a call telling me that I would be fighting Jimmy Jazz in a number one contenders match for the title. And I knew this would be my last shot. I had to do everything I could to beat Jimmy Jazz, and I did it. Pinned him right in the middle of the ring, making me the number one contender.
And ever since then, I’ve been training, I’ve been studying, but was I fortunate enough to get a second chance at the Overdrive Title. And this time, I’m not going to let this opportunity pass me by. Because If I don’t beat Hellfire at Mayhem, its back of the line for me. I’ve been doing what I do best and that’s studying my opponent. I logged in countless hours in the past month on you tube, checking out Hellfire’s matches. I’ve been studying him in his matches on Overdrive. Even in that tag match we had together, I watched him like a Hawk. I watched Hellfire’s back the past month to ensure he would go into Mayhem at his best, because when I beat Hellfire K.I.D, I want no excuses. I don’t want to hear any whining and crying. I want Hellfire to look be in the eye and shake my hand before being the better man.
Mark then stops, takes his sun glasses off and folds in one arm before hooking the other arm on the neck of his shirt.
Mark: And that’s what will happen. Hellfire, you’ve been making a name for yourself in APW in just a short amount of time. Not many people have been able to accomplish that. But I can see it now. All this new found fame and glory going to your head. Building up your ego, being the number one ranked guy in APW. But all that Hellfire, that doesn’t scare me. It doesn’t throw me off my game, because at the end of the night, one thing I know for sure is that Mark Moment is better than Hellfire. Your win at Rasslemania was pure luck. You just happened to be at the right place, at the right time. But this time around, at Mayhem, its one on one, no ladders, so special gimmicks, just you and me. In a match to find out just who is the better man.
I know your moves Hellfire, I’ve been studying you. And I haven’t forgotten about Alyssa being by your side. I encourage you to bring her to ringside for our match. I encourage you Alyssa to do what you feel the need to do, to ensure your man retains his belt. Because like I said before, I want no excuses when I beat you Hellfire. I want you to bring everything you got. I want you to be more ready than ever before. I have been waiting for this match for the past month. Counting down the Weeks, the days, the hours. I’m more ready now than what I was for Rasslemania. I’m more determined. I’m more focused. I have one thing on my mind, and that’s the APW Overdrive Championship. And I’m so close now, I can taste it, and Hellfire, it taste good.
I didn’t bust my ass off for the past month to lose this Sunday. I’m coming to Mayhem ready to win. I’m coming to Mayhem with one objective. I plan on walking into Mayhem, kicking your ass all over the arena and walking out as the New APW Overdrive Champion. And then, in the record books, you will see the list of great Overdrive Champions, such as Link, Shadow, Biggs, Pence Weatherlight, Hellfire K.I.D, and then me, Mark Moment.
Hellfire, I hope you bring your “A” game. I hope you bring everything you got, because at Mayhem, your going to need it, because I’m pushing you to the limit. I’m coming at you firing with guns blazing. I got thousands of fans backing me on this night, and I WILL do whatever it takes to not disappoint them. They paid their hard earn money to see Mark Moment win the APW Overdrive Title, and that’s what they will get. Mark my words Hellfire. Sunday Night, May 23rd, History will be made when I become the new APW Overdrive Champion, and make it a Mark….Out….Moment!
Mark grabs his sun glasses, from his shirt, puts them back on his head and walks off as the camera zooms in on the Mayhem Banner hanging in front of the entrance doors of the arena as the scene fades to black.
