The scene opens up backstage at Mayhem. Inside the arena, backstage, you see Cindy Shannon standing outside a locker room door.
Cindy: Welcome back to the APW Pre Show. We are just 24 minutes away from this year’s Mayhem. We have Nine matches scheduled for tonight and right now I’m standing in front of the APW Mega Stars Locker room, hoping to catch an interview with someone. Let’s see who I can get.
Cindy knocks on the door and wait’s a few seconds and then the door opens and steps out is Mark Moment.
Cindy: Hi Mark, can I get a few words with you.
Mark: Sure.
Cindy: As everyone knows, You’re the number one contender for the Overdrive Title. Now Mark, later tonight, you will face off against Hellfire K.I.D for the Overdrive title. What is going through your mind as this matches is approaching.
Mark: Winning is on my mind. Walking out with the Overdrive Title in hand is on my mind. My mind is focused. As everyone knows, I’ve been waiting for tonight for a long time. Finally its hear. Mark Moment Verses Hellfire, One on One. A match that I know a lot of people have been looking forwards to. I mean, lets look at the tale of the tape.
I’m 5’10, he’s 5’11. I’m 180 pounds, he’s 221. My finishing move is a 450 splash. His is a Flip Powerbomb. My biggest APW accomplishment was wrestling at Rasslemania. His, winning the Overdrive Title at Rasslemania.
If you look on Paper, Hellfire is the odds on favorite to win. But the great thing about this business. That means absolutely nothing. The fact is that a guy like me, someone who hasn’t had any big matches. Someone who has been looked at, as someone who isn’t a serious threat, can win a championship, and that’s what makes APW so great. APW is a land of opportunities. And even when I was down and out, I got my second chance, and its all I’m going to need. There’s going to be no Third chance for me, or a third time is the charm, because I only need 1 more shot to make it count, and I will make it count, and if you don’t believe me, wait until after the bell rings and my hand is raised.
Cindy: You sound extremely confident going into this match. Much more confident than at Rasslemania. What’s different this time around?
Mark. You know, I can come up with many excuses. Rasslemania being the biggest stage of them all, I can blame my performance on being nervous. I can blame the fact that it was a ladder match and anyone can win a ladder match. There’s countless numbers of excuses, but that night, Hellfire was the better man. This time around, I think the past two months have been a learning experience for me. I’ve learned that as much as I should study my opponent and train hard for a match, I also have to Study myself. Figure out my weaknesses and make them strong. Figure out what I did wrong and make sure I don’t do that again. Hellfire is fighting a different Mark Moment this time around, and he better be ready.
Cindy: As of right now, we have yet to year from Hellfire. Does this worry you?
Mark: I’m surprised that I haven’t heard Hellfire talk about our match yet. I thought he’d be looking forward to his match as much as I am. But this could be the fear setting into Hellfire. Hellfire knows how bad I want that Championship. Hellfire knows that he’s time as the Overdrive Champ has run out. Hellfire knows that he’s kissing that championship goodbye. You and I both know Cindy that Hellfire isn’t a weak wrestler. That’s why he’s currently the champ. But, this match is going to come down to who wants it more. Who is willing to go that extra mile. Who is willing to put it all on the line and risk their life and career to win that title. To be put in the record books next to some of the great wrestlers who stepped foot in an APW ring. Hellfire needs to ask himself, how bad does he want to keep that belt. Because I’m willing to rip it out right from his cold dead hands. That’s how bad I want it.
Cindy: And what will do you if you lose?
Mark: I’m not going to lose. But, if there’s someway, some how that I do lose, I’ll gladly man up, shake Hellfire’s hand and head to the back of the line. But honestly, I don’t see that happening. It’s been a long road for me to get to this point, and I’m not hitting a road block. Hellfire stands in my way and I will plow right through him.
Cindy: You get your second shot at the Overdrive Title tonight. Any final words for Hellfire before you meet him in the ring.
With that, Mark turns towards the camera and the camera zooms in right on his face
Mark: Tonight Hellfire, Its do or die for me. Its time for me to put up or shut up. This is my chance to show the world that I’m not just another APW Megastar, but I’m the future of APW. I’ve earned my title shot and tonight, not only will I prove to you and the fans, but to myself as well, that I am championship material. That I have the tools to win that belt. Tonight Hellfire, like it or not, I’m taking that title. And there’s nothing you can do about it. And because of that, tonight, when the 20,000 people are cheering for me as I hold the title high in the air, and Tony Ferrari announces me as the new APW Overdrive Champion. That right there, will be a Mark…..Out….Moment!
