"A Gathering part 2"
JD: My god that was close. Those people are fucking nuts.
* The girl in the passenger seat begins sobbing heavily, as JD looks over at her, he touches a hand to her shoulder. *
JD: You ok?
Girl: I lost everything...
JD: You don't need them.
Girl: You don't understand, they are all I had. They were my family.
JD: I don't mean to come across harshly, but what kind of family would try to punish one of their own with death? That's... that's insane!
Girl: I betrayed them, I deserve to be punished.
JD: If you truly believe that, then I can pull this car over right now and you can go back.
Girl: ... No... please, no.
JD: Then realize that you don't need those people, they aren't helping you, they are only hurting you, they are taking advantage of your weaknesses, and they are exploiting them.
Girl: I'm so scared... I don't know what to trust.
JD: Well, right now i'm all you have, im not asking you to trust me, but you might want to at least accept my help.
Girl: What made you come back for me?
JD: ... Faith. Something I felt gave me the impression that god has bigger plans for you. I'm sorry that I was a focal point of this whole explosion... But I had no idea where you were taking me.
Girl: I'm sorry, I just wanted the opportunity to spend more time with you, that was the best I knew how.
JD: I am a child of light. I have a lot of torment at this point of my life. I am angry with a lot of things happening around me... but no matter how bad things get I still look to the sky and fold my hands in prayer every night before bed.
Girl: I apologize.
JD: Might I ask why you chose your current...er... lifestyle?
Girl: Well my family all abandoned me, and I was left with nobody until one of the members of the church found me and put me up in their home. But now... I have nothing. No home, all the belongings I did have... I can never go back to.
* JD let's out a sigh. *
JD: I have to ask... Do you really believe in this religion?
Girl: Some of it makes sense...
JD: Ok I wanna talk to you about my views on it. You look like you may be... Jewish??
Girl: Yes... half... on my birth father's side.
JD: Ok, so can I ask, what are your personal views on Hitler and the holocaust?
Girl: It was horrible... He killed millions of people. Millions of jews...
JD: Ok, now think about this. He is the type of person that Satan looks for as a follower. Josef Stalin... Another one, Saddam Hussein, they are all the pieces of shit that the devil enjoys. Now on the other hand you have people like Pope John Paul, Mother Theresa, Jesus of Nazareth. A much better group no?
Girl: ...
JD: All I am saying is that you just need to truly hold your beliefs close to your heart. Don't deceive yourself and those around you just because you feel backed into a corner.
Girl: (meekly) I know...
JD: Relax... everything is going to be ok.
Girl: How can you say that? I don't even know where I'm sleeping tonight and I don't even have a nickel to my name.
* JD reaches into the center console of the car and pulls out a nickel, which he then hands to her. *
JD: See! Now smile.
* JD chuckles a little as the girl gives him a firm look. *
JD: Ok, obviously I was just poking fun. I am going to take care of it ok?
Girl: Wha?
JD: I am going to make sure you have everything you need. Tonight you can stay at my place...or if you feel more comfortable I will rent you a hotel room.
Girl: No... I'm scared to be alone tonight.
* JD smiles at the girl, admiring her beauty and feeling genuinely bad for her. *
JD: Ok...
Girl: Listen... I don't want this to be like the last people who took me in though. I don't want to walk into another situation like that.
JD: Don't worry, I told you I will take care of you. Tomorrow I will take you out and we will find you a place.
Girl: But I don't have a job to pay for it.
* As the girl says this JD truly sees her innocence. She can't be more than nineteen. *
JD: I don't expect you to pay, I told you that I will handle it.
Girl: I can't expect you to do that.
JD: It'd be my pleasure.
* JD looks at the girls pretty face and thinks to himself for a moment. *
JD: So... Do you like dressing like that?
Girl: Oh... Haha... No actually I don't. I just had to, to please my caretakers.
* The girl lowers her head. *
JD: So what color is your hair naturally?
Girl: A golden brown color.
Michael: I bet that looks beautiful with your hazel eyes.
* The girl looks at him very confused. Her eyes being brown. *
Girl: How did you know my eyes are hazel?
* JD giggles a bit. *
JD: Your contact in your left eye is a little crooked. Probably from when you were crying earlier. You really shouldn't wear them, you're eyes seem like they would be much prettier naturally.
* JD pulls into the driveway of his large lake-front home. *
Girl: Wow... This is where you live?
JD: My dad was a fan of the stock market... and with a little help from lady luck, things panned out pretty well.
* JD parks his car in under the large porch. The two step out of the car and begin ascending the stairs of the home. As they reach the top JD's butler Stanley opens the door. *
JD: Good evening Stanley. We have a guest tonight, could you please prepare one of the guest bedrooms for her.
Stanley: Very well sir, Nice to meet you madame.
* Stanley shakes the girl's hand, before exiting to prepare a room. *
Girl: Wow, this is beautiful. You live here by yourself?
JD: Well, Stanley keeps me company, and I do travel a lot for work, but other than that yeah.
Girl: How come you don't have a wife?
* JD shrugs. *
JD: I'm young still and like I said, work keeps me moving around a lot... but you know, I never did even find out your name.
Girl: Jacqueline...
JD: Beautiful... Well Jackie...
* JD brushes her hair out of her face. *
JD: Perhaps its best you get some sleep.
Jackie: Ok.
* Jacqueline and JD are lead upstairs by Stanley where they stop at the room nearest JD's where Stanley has set for Jackie to sleep. JD kisses Jackie's hand and assures her he is right next door if she needs him, he pulls the bedroom door closed before entering his master bedroom. JD almost runs to the lush welcomings of his bed before stopping to change into shorts and a tank and laying down with a glass of "So-Co" from the mini fridge. As JD lays there sipping his drink, his bedroom door squeaks open, and Jackie slides in through the crack. She walks over to the bed without saying a word and slowly climbs into the bed, JD watches her closely as she nuzzles up next to him with her head on his arm and closes her eyes, he slowly wraps his arm around her, laying his hand on her shoulder, reaching out his other hand he places the glass on the end table, JD takes in another long look at Jacqueline before kissing the top of her head and closing his eyes. *
