Audrey Horn, a girl who nobody would ever expect to be a wrestler. She was a cute, short, blonde girl full of energy and spunk. Audrey had been in the business since she was seventeen years old when she got a job working around the ring at local indy shows. Never one to give up, Audrey trained hard and learned the craft and never cared if people never really took her as a threat. She had the heart of a lion and more passion then some of the biggest men in the ring. After finishing up at the local wrestling academy in Southern California, Audrey Horn had been working events in the Southwest, doing her thing and trying to make a name for herself. Even though she was working in wrestling she was still a total fan girl. Her latest obsession was with Dangertainment, Nate Bishop, Jason Kash and Johnny Knuckles were amazing to her. She had all their merch and watched them in ICW and APW each week religiously. That night though she wasn't worried about them she had a match and from what she heard it might be a big one. Little did she know she was about to get a huge opportunity.
Audrey was working at a show in San Jose. She had on a pair of pink shorts, her butt hanging out a bit and a matching pink wrestling top with a black Dangertainment tee on top to keep her warm backstage, ready to get into the ring for action. It was her biggest match so far in the small company and she was pumped up to get in the ring in front of a crowd. Her father was in attendance as usual. He had always followed her career closely and supported her with her dream. She still hadn't heard who her opponent was they just said they were hoping a pretty big name would arrive soon for her to face. Audrey had no idea who it was but if it was someone who had been on television she would be happy to face them and try to sneak a win out.
When she looked over though and saw the girl who she was facing walking in from the outside her heart started to pound in her chest. Walking into the ladies locker room was former UWF Stunner, Hayley Hitch. This was a girl who had dated one of her favorite wrestlers, Jason Kash, back in UWF and Audrey totally was jealous of her back then. She tried to hide their excitement but couldn't stop her self as her hands were over her mouth as she bounced on her heels, her blonde hair bobbing up and down on either shoulder. Hayley walked up to Audrey already dressed for the ring, looking down at Horn a bit confused as she glanced around the tiny locker room.
HAYLEY HITCH: Are you the chick I'm working with tonight? I thought they said they had a decent match for me lined up.
AUDREY HORN: I totally am! They told me I was facing someone who had been in some big companies but I had no idea it was you. O-M-G! This is fantastic. I totally have your UWF t-shirt in my closet back home.
HAYLEY HITCH: That's great, kid.
AUDREY HORN: So you dated Jason Kash, right? How is he in real life? He always seems really cool in interviews and stuff. I got his autograph one time but we only got to talk for a few seconds. It kind of sucked but he was sweet.
HAYLEY HITCH: Wow. A bit of a Jason Kash fan, huh?
AUDREY HORN: Not just Jason Kash. I love all of the guys in Dangertainment. I mean... I have the shirt on now!
She grabbed each side of the shirt and held it up a bit to show Hayley. The veteran of the two, Hayley, didn't seem impressed though and she shook her head.
HAYLEY HITCH: HAYLEY HITCH: At least this will be an easy win. That's good because I heard some guy from IWC is here trying to find some new talents before RassleMania.
AUDREY HORN: Are you shitting me?!
HAYLEY HITCH: Nope, I want to be on that show and since we are the second to last match they will be watching us. Sadly for you, kid, only one of us is going to get that offer and it sure as hell ain't some twelve year old fangirl over me. How old are you anyways? I mean you don't look a day over twelve.
When most people would of been insulted by the comment, Audrey didn't mind. She was used to people thinking she was younger then she really was. She rolled her eyes with a giggle.
AUDREY HORN: Nah, I'm twenty and I'll be twenty-one in a few weeks. I get that a lot though... I really am honored to get to fight you tonight though, Hayley. I mean you've been in UWF, hung out with some of the best in the business and you are beautiful. Too bad I'm going to have to beat you.
HAYLEY HITCH: Beat me? Dream on.
AUDREY HORN: You might of had a chance but when you said that if I win I might get to wrestle in IWC or even better at RassleMania... Well you kind of dug your own grave. I know I don't look like much but I will go through hell and back in order to get to that show. Every original member of Dangertainment is going to be on that show and I could be backstage with them. So you know what I'm going to be doing?
HAYLEY HITCH: What?
AUDREY HORN: Duh, winning!
Audrey grinned at Hayley who really wasn't very amused by Audrey's weird version of trash talking. Audrey shrugged as Hayley tensed her jaw, glaring down at the smaller, blonde Diva.
HAYLEY HITCH: Look, I don't want to burst your bubble or anything but you can't beat me. I've been places you could only dream of. I'm sure you are a talented girl but you aren't ready to be in IWC let alone be on a APW show. That is way out of your league, sister. I mean if they did sign either of us we would be in a huge battle royal match against established stars. You would be out classed, outshined and outdone by everyone in that ring just like you will be against me here in a few minutes.
AUDREY HORN: Maybe you are right... But I sure as hell am still going to try for it. What's the point of doing this unless you aim to be the best, right?
HAYLEY HITCH: Wow... You are way too chipper about this business.
Just as Hayley was talking "Hot Mess" by Chromeo started to play. Audrey's face lit up and she clapped her hands once before grabbing her tee, pulling it off quickly and throwing it in the corner.
AUDREY HORN: Thanks. I try to keep a good attitude... That's my music though and it is time for me to head to the ring. I'll see you in a few minutes.
Audrey turned, heading out of the room in a hurry as she heard the fans cheering. She pushed through the curtain to the crowd of a less then two hundred and she did her usual entrance with maybe a bit more zazz then usual do to the rumor Hayley gave her. As she glanced out at the fans she wondered if one of them was from IWC or not. In the end it didn't matter at the moment, she had a big match and IWC or not she wanted to prove she could beat someone who people may say is above her like Hayley Hitch.
Once Hayley came out the match got underway. It was one of Audrey's tougher matches too and for awhile she thought Hayley might of had her number. But in the end Audrey hit her trademark move, the Danger Zone springboard bulldog, driving Hitch into the mat and getting the pin. It was almost surreal realizing what had happened. She just beat a girl who had been associated with her favorite group in wrestling. It was kind of a big deal for her and after the match after celebrating in the ring she ran out and gave her dad a quick hug before heading to the back, sore, sweaty but still brimming with energy.
Hayley didn't say anything to her though when she came in the room, she glared at her as she walked straight out of the building. Audrey didn't care though, she had just won a huge match and if Hayley was right she might of been seen by someone representing APW or IWC. She sat down on the bench backstage, grabbing a bottle of water and taking a sip as she leaned back, replaying the match in her head. That is until she saw someone step through, knocking once on the door before stepping in.
AUDREY HORN: Come in, I'm not naked yet.
The man pushed through the door, obviously not wanting to walk into the ladies locker room without knowing if he was allowed or not. He pulled off the hat from his head and Audrey thought at first she had seen him but wasn't sure with the sunglasses on.
AUDREY HORN: Can I help you?
PRESIDENT JEFF: Actually, yes. Audrey Horn, right? I just watched your match and I was really impressed.
AUDREY HORN: Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. Did you want an autograph or something?
PRESIDENT JEFF: Oh no... Well maybe but I actually came to offer you a job in my company.
With that the man pulled off his sunglasses and Audrey's mouth dropped open. Standing in front of her was President Jeff, the man who ran APW and now IWC. He was the guy Hayley had heard might be there? It was totally insane and she was shocked to see him there.
AUDREY HORN: But you're... You know who you are, right?
PRESIDENT JEFF: I'm pretty sure I do. Do you know who I am?
AUDREY HORN: Heck yes! You're Jeff, you run APW. Why are you here?
I came by since I heard a few good talents were at this event. I actually came to scout Hayley Hitch but I liked your style, your look and your energy a lot more. She seemed like she was doing a job while you seemed like you were having a great time. I like that and I want to bring you over to the IWC brand.
AUDREY HORN: You're shitting me!
PRESIDENT JEFF: I am not. We could use some fresh faces and a cute face like yours would be even more welcome in that band of Misfits.
AUDREY HORN: Like Jason Kash and Nate Bishop are there too, right?
PRESIDENT JEFF: They are and they are representing IWC at Rasslemania. Speaking of that though unless you have some other shows booked already I would kind of like to get you on the roster now so you can compete in the Battle Royal at Rasslemania. I know it is short notice but if you can do it and win it then you'll get a title match.
AUDREY HORN: I don't know... I think I can make it. I'm not booked much right now or anything. This is unreal. I'm still not convinced today is a dream. I mean first I beat Hayley Hitch and now you are offering me a match at Rasslemania. This is insanity!
PRESIDENT JEFF: I'm glad you are excited about it. Like I said, I liked your energy. You'll be in the ring with a big group of people so you'll want to get up to Berkley to get ready. You need me to buy you a ticket?
AUDREY HORN: Oh no, I can totally drive up there. Thank you so much for giving me this chance too. It means so much to me.
PRESIDENT JEFF: I'm happy to have you join up. I see you buy our merchadise too.
He pointed at my Dangertainment shirt hanging in my area and I blushed a bit. I didn't want to sound like a fangirl in front of Jeff but I was so excited to not only be in IWC but to see Jason Kash and Nate Bishop in person. Heck, it was for both brands so Knuckles would be there too. It was like a dream come true.
AUDREY HORN: Yeah... I am a bit of a Dangertainment fan for awhile now. I just like their whole attitude and style they bring to the ring.
PRESIDENT JEFF: That's cool. You'll get to be in the same arena as them soon enough too maybe we can get all of you introduced. I would love to stay and work out more details but... I have a plane to catch. Here is my card. Call my secretary and when you get to Berkley we will have a contract ready for you.
He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a business card. I pulled it quickly out of his hands, staring down at it before I looked back at him.
PRESIDENT JEFF: Thank you so much. I promise I'll do my best out there and I'll try to not let you down.
AUDREY HORN: I'm not worried that you will. I'll see you in Berkley.
Jeff waved his hand before putting on his sunglasses and hat. He was obviously trying to disguise himself a bit so people didn't bug him at the show which Audrey understood. As soon as Jeff was gone before she let out a high pitched scream that could be heard inside the area. Audrey jumped up on the bench, dancing in place and screaming out in joy. Her heart was pounding in her chest and she couldn't wait to get in her car and drive to Berkley. She had to tell her dad too, he would be thrilled. Her career was now going from nowhere to pay-per-view overnight. She was going to be on Rasslemania for her debut and she wanted to make sure that win or loss people took notice of Audrey Horn.
It was two days later when she finally got to Berkley. She headed home then packed up for her trip. The drive seemed to go on forever for her as she was anticipating getting to Rasslemania so much it was driving her crazy nearly. But she finally made it, talked to the right people and signed her contract. She barely even read what it said because she was so pumped up about getting her name on it to make it official. After she was signed they kept her busy getting her on the roster with pictures, music and all that good stuff. It was all a lot of work but they finally told her she got to do something a bit more fun... Cut a quick promo.
Audrey stood in front of a big Rasslemania backdrop. She had on a pink bloude and a pair of tight jeans. Her hair was down over her shoulders and she had a big grin on her face already. She couldn't help but smile and she was pretty sure that same smile had been plastered on her face since the moment she talked to President Jeff in San Jose. The camera man aimed the camera at her and then they gave her the signal to do her thing.
AUDREY HORN: You people are probably wondering who I am, right? I mean a happy blonde California girl isn't your typical wrestler but I'm not your typical girl. Nope, I am not what people expect when they see me. Instead I'm a girl who likes action, adventure and having a good time. The best way for me to find those things has always been in the ring. I love wrestling and I always have. I love the fans, I love the smell of the ring and what I love the most is winning. I don't like coming in second. That is who I am but you can call me Audrey Horn instead. It is less of a mouthful.
Now I'm here in Berkley for my first match as a IWC Misfit. It is pretty amazing for me to say that too because some of the wrestlers I look up to most are also Misfits too. My debut match though isn't your typical one on one type thing. Instead I'll be stepping in the ring with a whole mess of people for a Battle Royal. Bodies will be flying through the air and when it is all said and done only one person will be left standing. That person is going to end up being a top contender for a championship down the line. That isn't just a big deal, people, that is a huge deal. A chance at a belt is what everyone is working for in this business and I could have it on my first night. Will I do it? I'm not going to promise anything but I can promise that I'm going to put up more of a fight then anyone in that ring will expet. I'm fiesty, I'm small and I'm hard to keep ahold of. Everyone in that match better be on notice because Audrey Horn is in town and ready to win it. I'll see you all at Rasslemania.
Audrey winked at the camera with a bit of a giggle. She kicked her leg back and turned, heading off camera as the camera man cut the scene off. It was her time now, her chance to make an impact in the business she loved. Plus if she did good it might impress Dangertainment a bit too. Audrey was pumped up and ready for Rasslemania.
