The scene opens up inside of a radio station in Australia. Its 7:30am and we’re live on the air with “The more music breakfast show” with Mike Perso.
Mike: And that was “Iron Man’ By Black Sabbath, from their second studio album Paranoid. One of my favourites. And speaking of “Iron Man,” Sitting next to me right now is a wrestler who uses that song as his entrance music. He wrestles with Action Packed Wrestling who will be having a Pay Per View event at the Darwin Entertainment Center this Sunday, May 22nd. Please welcome by guest, the man who will be taking on Diamante Valentine for the APW Xtreme Championship, Chris Cyrus. Chris, thanks for being here this morning
Chris: It’s great to be here Mike.
Mike: Now how excited are you for this Pay Per View, especially how your wrestling for a championship
Chris: Mike, I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t excited. I’m excited for every match I’m in. Being a wrestler has always been my dream job. I can remember back in the day when I was young, watching shows on TV and going to the local events. The way I see it, if you’re not excited for your match, then you shouldn’t be in this business.
Mike: How does one become a professional wrestle?. I’m sure there’s lots of people out there who are interested in getting into the business.
Chris: You gotta get in shape and go to a wrestling school. If you’re not tough and can’t suck up pain, then don’t bother trying out. I was born and raised in Las Vegas and I went to this wrestling school when I was 19. And I’ll admit, I wasn’t in the best of shape, but I loved this business so much that nothing was going to hold me down. We started the class with ten people and when we we’re done, there was me and another guy left, and as far as I know, I’m the only one still wrestling.
Mike: You’ve been wrestling with APW since the beginning if I’m not mistaken, how did you get in contact with APW.
Chris: After I graduated from Wrestling school, I was wrestling with a Las Vegas promotion. We ended up doing a small tour with our last stop in New York. And at the show, was the owner of APW, Hurricane Jeff. After the show, we got to talking, and at this point, I was only wrestling for 6 months. He was telling me he was starting up a new company and is looking for guys and said he saw potential in me. And I knew of Jeff, I’ve watch him many times wrestler and knew about previous promotions he’s owned and been part off. And I wasn’t happen with the promotion I was in. I understand paying your dues, but I was the rookie on the roster and I was getting treated with no respect. They turned what I loved into something I hated. Jeff didn’t promise me anything, he just told me that I could go wrestle for him and as long as I did my best and showed up every night, I’ll get my opportunities and till this day, he kept his word. I was one of the first guys to sign an APW contract and I’m still there, 3 and a half years later.
Mike: The quality of the shows APW puts on is some of the best wrestling on TV today. APW runs two shows, over 40 wrestlers.
Chris: Yah, its amazing. I never thought APW would grow to this height, but Jeff had a vision of what he wanted APW to be and I’ve watched APW grow while I was here. There we’re times when I questioned if APW would shut down, but it never happened. Jeff is a great boss, so dedicated and it shows in the product that he puts out every week.
Mike: Lets talk about this Sunday, the Pay Per View, Mayhem. Your taking on Diamante Valentine, is that correct?
Chris: Yah, I’m fighting him for the APW Xtreme Championship in an Xtreme Rules match
Mike: What’s an Xtreme Rules match?
Chris: A match where everything goes. Weapons are allowed, and probably some blood too.
Mike: How did this match come about? I mean, Diamante is on the Overdrive show and you’re on the Asylum show.
Chris: It started after Diamante became the Xtreme Champion. For whatever reason, he thinks he’s the greatest Xtreme Champion of all time, because not only did he win the title once, but he won the title twice. The way I look at it, he’s no where’s near as great of an Xtreme Champion as I was. All Diamante has done is first win the title which I’ll give him props for, but then he loses to Matt Ward then wins it back from him. Matt Ward wrestling in like 50 different promotion and he’s the worst wrestler in all of them. So after defeating Matt, Diamante wanted to prove a point that he’s Xtreme and the greatest by fighting Mr. Dangeorus, who we all know is just as much of a joke than Matt Ward. Anyways, What Diamante has accomplished is not considered greatness. If we want to talk about being the greatest Xtreme Champion, look at me, I held the title for three hundred and sixty four days. I faced off against and defended my title against a lot of people. As far as I’m consirned, Diamante Valentine isn’t in my league. When you rank Xtreme Champions, my name is Number 1 and Diamante’s name isn’t even in the top 10. That’s how much better I am than him.
Mike: I was able to catch last week’s episode of Overdrive, which saw Diamante attack you. How are you feeling after that attack
Chris: I’m still a little sore, but I don’t want Diamante to think I forgot about that. I was scheduled for a match that night against Diamante’s friend, JR Kingston and I got attacked from behind. If that the kind of man Diamante really is? A coward who attacks from behind? A joke that can go face to face with me. I’m upset at the attack. Him attacking me, trying to injure me and take me out of our match at Mayhem tells me only one thing about Diamante.
Mike: And what would that be
Chris: It tells me that he’s scared. It tells me that he’s shaking in his boots. It tells me that he’s counting down the days until he loses his Xtreme Title. He knows and I know that I’m better than him. He knows that I’m taking that title from him to become the new APW Xtreme Champion. Diamante tried to take me out and failed, just like he’s going to fail this Sunday at Mayhem.
Mike: How are you planning on winning, I understand that your “Anti Hardcore”
Chris: That’s right. I don’t need foreign objects to beat Diamante. My only weapons, my left and my right hand, that’s it. Guys like Diamante, they don’t know how to wrestle so they rely on matches like these. Well, I was like that once. I used to be called The Hardcore Kid and Hardcore wrestling was my specialty. Well, I learned that, with that kind of wrestling, I was ruining my career. I was killing any reputation I may have. So when I was Xtreme Champion, I took that title and proved that you don’t need to be Hardcore to have it and I’ll do it again. I’m sick and tired of seeing guys who are giving a title shot, not because they earned it, but because they suck and make them think that they are actually good. Well, it time for the Xtreme Title to become credible again. When I won the Xtreme Title at the end of Decemeber 2008, I won it after the title switched hands like three times in a matter of a month or so. I took that title and made that title mean something. I brought back the credibility of that title and I’m going to do it again. I am the saviour of the APW Xtreme Title. See, I don’t need to win this title. Everyone know’s how good and talented I am, but at the end of the day, I’m a company man, I want to do what good for APW and if that means, taking a title off a no good lousy piece of garbage, in order to save a championship, then so be it. I have no problem doing that.
Mike: Well Chris, we are running out of time, Any final words you’d like to say to our viewers or Diamante for that matter
Chris: I hope that Diamante is listening, because I want him to know that he better bring his best Sunday night and he better know that I’m not bringing anything less of my “A” game. Diamante may have Damien Walker and either Young Mannie or JR Kingston or whoever by his side, but that doesn’t bother me. Because, I’m going to beat Diamante without picking up a single weapon. I’m going to lock Diamante into a headlock and break his neck. I’m going to show him a different definition of Xtreme. Chris Cyrus is Xtrmee he’s Xtreme to the max . But one thing Diamante better not forget, he attacked me last week on Overdrive, and as the old saying goes, Pay Back is a bitch. Diamante, you have no idea what your in store for. You have no idea what to expect with me. And at Mayhem, I’m winning that Xtreme Title and I’m going to take it back and defended it on Asylum, proving once again that Asylum is a more superior show than Overdrive. And one more thing Diamante, because I’m such a nice guy, I bought you a one way ticket. A One way Ticket STRAIGHT TO HELL. Why? BECAUSE I’m SIMPLY…..AWESOME!!!
Mike: Well that’s all the time we have today. I’d like to thank you Chris for being here today and speaking with us.
Chris: It was fun, we need to do it again next time APW is in town
Mike: If you don’t have a ticket, be sure to order APW Mayhem, Live this Sunday on Pay Per View and watch Chris Cyrus take on Diamante Valentine for the APW Xtreme Championship. And after commercial break, we have two front row tickets to give a way to caller number 6.
With that, the radio DJ puts some music on and the scene fades to black
Mike: And that was “Iron Man’ By Black Sabbath, from their second studio album Paranoid. One of my favourites.
