"And what if he strips you?"
The scene opens up inside of the locker room of Rico Casteel. The APW World Heavyweight champion can be seen sitting against the far wall of the room, hunched over slightly, the APW title resting on the seat of a chair in front of him. Off to the side stands Colonel Frederick de LaFontaine the third, wearing his mustard colored suit, holding his hat in his hands by the brim.
Rico: He wouldn't be stupid enough to do that.
Colonel: How do you, I say, how do you know that, son? He's clearly annoyed at the fact that you and that monster took shots at him.
Rico looks up at the Colonel with a snarl.
Rico: Maybe so, but if he even thinks about stripping the title from me, he knows that he will be in for a world of hurt. He saw what I did while chasing the title, he's seen what I've done since getting the title. He isn't dumb enough to think I wouldn't do a damn thing to him.
Colonel: Still! Somethings bound to give after you've been up his nose for the past few months. He's going to do something to get rid of you, son.
Rico: Well, then he will have to join the rest and pray that BDC beats me at Shockwave because as long as I have this title, as long as I am breathing, I will still be sitting at the top. I will still be looking down at all the peons of my Asylum.
Colonel: Just...be careful alright?
Rico: Careful? I'm sorry, Colonel, I don't know the meaning of that word. Reckless abandon is what I live by. You should know that by now.
Colonel: But what, I say, what happens when you get seriously screwed and lose that title because you did something you shouldn't have? What then?
Rico: I get it back.
The Colonel shakes his head as Rico rises from his seat.
Rico: Listen, it's nice that you're looking out for me but it's unneeded. If, and that's a big if, I lose my title because Reginald wants to play the tough guy, then I will get it back. As simple as that, Colonel. This is my kingdom, and I'm not about to give up until everyone realizes it.
The Colonel opens his mouth to speak.
Rico: Including Reginald.
The Colonel shakes his head again.
Colonel: Fine, whatever you say, son. I just don't want to be made a fool. I work hard to make sure that plans fall into place, and if you fuck it all up, then I look like the fool.
Rico: Every kingdom needs a fool.
Rico smirks as he stands up.
Rico: Truth be told, gramps, I'm not worried. Reginald knows what he should and should never do, and I'm sure he'll do the right thing.
Colonel: What about BDC, are you worried about him?
Rico lets out a chuckle and shakes his head.
Rico: Nothing to be worried about.
Colonel: He's on the warpath for your title.
Rico: And? He still doesn't worry me. Everyone told me to be worried about James Chambers, but I wasn't. Hell, even those fuckwit cousins were on their own warpath and whats happened to them?
Colonel: Yeah...what has happened to them?
Rico: Probably overdosed on sugar or something, but that's irrelevant. They're irrelevant. BDC is irrelevant. The only thing that's relevant and that matters, is me, the World champ, the King of the Asylum.
Rico shakes his head, anger washing over his face.
Rico: Everyone should be bowing down to me, but they don't. They are all too busy getting wrapped up in their own heads. They're too busy playing tag with the tag title belts, or spouting out one bit of trash after another. I should just teach them all a lesson.
Colonel: And go full Loose Cannon?
Rico smirks.
Rico: Exactly. Go full Loose Cannon. Teach them all a lesson. Let them know that there is a reason to fear me.
Colonel: Just don't do anything you'll regret, alright?
Rico: Regret? I regret nothing that I have done.
Colonel: Even when you....
Rico shoots a glare toward the Colonel.
Rico: Yes. Even that. He knew what he was getting himself into, just like BDC knows what he is getting himself into. The difference so far, is that the other guy met his fate when he lost his life, while BDC...well, we will have to see what happens come Shockwave.
Colonel: Well, still, play it safe. Don't do anything too drastic. Alright?
Rico rolls he eyes and picks up his title.
Rico: You need to stop worrying Colonel. As long as I hold this title, I am unstoppable. As long as everyone remembers their places in my kingdom, then no one has to get hurt. But I won't hesitate to make examples if the need arises.
Colonel: There's no getting through to you, is there?
Rico: You can't get by the truth, Fred.
Rico chuckles as the scene fades to black.
"So this is the main event that I am saddled with? This is what Reginald thinks of me? Booking me in a match with five other people that have no business being in the main event. But I guess we have to settle for what we can get when the General Manager opts to ban one of the people that could have made this a grand main event.
"Though, I guess instead of dwelling on what could have been or thinking about how pathetic the actual match is, we should be focusing more on the participants. The men who think they have what it takes to stand toe to toe with me inside of that ring. The tag team cast offs that just don't seem to fit in Reginalds plans.
"And of course, the pathetic BDC.
"Let's start first with Most Hated, the team that might be the most poorly named duo. To be Most Hated, they would have had to have done something wrong. They would have had to have pissed off someone something fierce. Yet, outside of that one time I remember seeing Hopper Rose trying to get himself noticed, they haven't done a god damn thing. Maybe Vaughn wishes he was hated, since he has dumped so many tag partners since waltzing into my Asylum with little to negative fanfare.
"To be blunt, the two of you are nothing more than cannon fodder. Or, in this case, loose cannon fodder. You are right up there with the long list of nobodies that have walked in here, shut their traps and promptly walked out without saying so much as a goodbye.
"Maybe I should put it in a way that the two of you will understand a bit more easily. You're chances at winning this week are, well, you don't have any chance at winning. You have done nothing to sway my mind to think otherwise. You have done nothing to even put the two of you on the map. So you won at the last show, so what? Anyone can get lucky once. But it takes true competitors, true fighters...
"True champions...
"To be consistent. To even stand a chance at winning in situations like this. I can already see it now. The two of you will try your damnedest to make an impact in the match, only to get stopped right in your tracks by yours truly. And afer a smirk that will tell you that you should have seen this coming, I'll make sure that both of you end up chewing on the mat for the rest of your lives. I'll make sure that your Most Hated name will be changed to Almost Had It.
"Of course, you're not the only tag team fodder that has been shoved into this match. Unfortunately, my partners are also worthless and hopeless. True, one of them has a title, the title that I put on the maps when I held it, but he only beat a worthless piece of trash and Isamu Suzuki to win it, and Suzuki didn't even put up a fight to keep it. Needless to say, I don't think they will do much of anything in this match. More than the two of you, most definitely, but Bodacious and Gambler are about as much of a space filler as you can get.
"Really, everyone knows what this boils down to. Everyone knows that this match is truly about the imminent collision of myself and BDC. Me, the true monster, the King of the Asylum, and he, the man that wishes he could be me. Sure, he's got the experience in this business, but what does that show? How does that make me fear him any more than I do now? It doesn't, because it's pointless. So he's won matches, he's won titles, what about it? The Gambler has a title and he's nothing to write home about.
"Though, to be fair, you're the only one on your side of the ring that actually has a chance at pulling out a win. To do so, you'll have to fight this whole match on your own, though, because there is no way that your partners will be of any help. Mind you, your chances are already slim considering who you are going up against.
"At least you'll get some sort of advantage and be able to see into the future. You'll be able to see how our match will end before we even get there. You'll be able to watch in your semi comatose state as I pick you up and drop you down, faster and harder than ever before. And after I pin you for the three, well, doing that again at Shockwave will not be a big deal.
"You'll doubt that, won't you? In some tirade of anger and profanity, you'll rip me apart for telling you how Shockwave will come to an end for you. How you will be left laying on the mat, unconscious, with blood all around you. You will be nothing more than a blip on the Asylum radar, much like the last time you were in Overdrive. A blip that spoke big and when it came to carrying a big stick, you failed. Just like you will fail this week and just like you will fail at Shockwave.
"Do you see how it's all coming together, Chris?
"Do you see how you're on the wrong end of the match? Do you see how you're about to fail at your quest for my title? Well, you've got two weeks to figure it out and two weeks to realize that you aren't going anywhere but down. You might think we are similar people, and you might think that we have the same mindset, but truthfully, I am far superior to you. I am far more dangerous than you. I am far more...driven than you. Because when it all came down to it, which one of us was busting his ass each and every week inside of that ring? Which one of us was proving his dominance against every single worthless piece of garbage that came into the Asylum? Which one of us currently stands at the top?
"Rico Casteel.
"Not Chris Defoe. Not BDC. Nothing but the Loose Cannon. And every time you think otherwise, it makes me smile. It makes me laugh. It makes me realize how truly pathetic you are, and how truly lost in the clouds you are, just like your tag team partners. Just like everyone who thinks that they have what it takes to beat me. The Kash's, the Cyrus', the Havok's, the Talfourd's, the Rose's. They all think they have what it takes to beat the Loose Cannon.
"But they're wrong.
"You're wrong.
"And soon, Chris, you'll be beaten into reality."
