The scene opens in the home of Branden Harvey. Harvey is on his computer. He seems to be checking his e-mail. He goes to mail.yahoo.com. He types in Shockwave2008@yahoo.com. He types ****** for his password. No. We are not going to tell you his password. That would just be rude. So stop asking.
There seems to be a new e-mail from Reginald Schmidt, the general manager of APW Asylum (wigglesfan@hotmail.com). Branden chuckles at the e-mail address, as he always does. The title of the e-mail is APW Asylum 9/11 - Portland, OR. Branden opens the e-mail. As expected, it is the card for Asylum. Branden starts reading it.
Harvey: Portland, OR? That right where I want to go. The one place people are more idiotic than Seattle, WA. Who lives in Portland? Nothing but pig farmers and dumpster divers. Ugh. I hate these idiotic places we travel.
Harvey: "True Brit" Johnny Brown vs. Jason Kash for the Tap Out Championship. It looks like Jason Kash has another easy title defense on his hands. Jason Kash will make short work of that idiot. Johnny Brown does not even know proper english, rig't?
He scrolls down.
Harvey: Most Hated vs. Chris Cyrus and Mike Morrison. I love that new team, Most Hated. I see big things ahead for them. And it starts with them beating Chris Cyrus and Mike Morrison on Asylum. They should be APW tag team Champions in no time.
He scrolls down some more and gets a very upset look on his face. It is a look of pure hatred. Obviously there is someone in this next match he hates very much.
Harvey: Rico Casteel vs. Shane Borderland. Thay are giving the Loose Cannon an easy opponent instead of matching him against me again. That punk had a hard time beating me at APW Shockwave. To the point that he kept screaming at me to stay down. The only reason I lost was because I was distracted. I kept watching the entrance ramp, thinking Big Daddy Chris was going to come back. he did not. And that became my downfall. Reginald is not going to risk me taking his title. I am not the face they want for their company. That is why this conspiracy has come up against me. And everyone is in on it. I do not even have friends anymore that can support me. It is Branden Harvey vs. the APW roster, the APW staff, and the APW fans. But Rico Casteel will have his time against me. Some time soon, I will take that title from around his waist and there is not a damn thing anyone in APW can do about it. Rico Casteel had better watch his back. Because, until I get the rematch that I justly deserve, I am making him my target.
Branden scrolls down again. And stops. He sees his name. As werll as the name of his opponent for Septembet 11. On the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on America, Branden harvey will take on this man?
Harvey: Tommy Knoxville vs. Branden Harvey.
Branden turns to the camera and begins to speak. He is speaking directly to Tommy Knoxville.
Harvey: Hello, Tommy Knoxville. I would say it is nice to see you back in APW but you and I both know that it would be a lie. Tommy Knoxville, you are the prime example of wasted potential I have ever seen in APW. You are even too lazy to watch tapes of your opponents matches and actually prepare for your matches. Or how about watching the other matches on Asylum before and after yours? It is something you will not take the time to do. I am sure you were even confused reading the card in your e-mail.
"Who am I facing again?"
It is okay, Tommy, my friend. You and I will soon become very acquanted. You see, you will be my first victim in my new life. Tommy Knoxville, after Shockwave, I was reinvigorated. I lost but I put on such a good showing that I have a new respect for my career as a wrestler. I have a new respect for myself.
Am I upset that I lost my friends at Shockwave? Yes. Am I upset that I lost my match at Shockwave? Yes. Am I going to give up now that I know what I am capable of? No.
Never give up. Never surrender.
Tommy Knoxville, I believe I have heard your sir name before. I am not sure where. But I do know that you are a jackass, Johnny. I mean Tommy.
Tommy Knoxville, you are nothing to me. You are forgetful. You are idiotic. You are an inbred son of a bitch. Me? I am intelligent. I remember things far past their expiration date. My parents were not cousins. I am better than you in every single way, Tommy Knoxville. You do not stand a chance against me.
Tommy Knoxville, you pride yourself on your "American Highlife" and it is that life that is going to get your shoulders pinned to the mat. You see, I am straight edge. But I am not your savior. I am your prosecutor. Your drugs are going to cost you this match. It is a well known fact that people that are on drugs are not as healthy as people that are not. I am not on drugs. And that makes me all the more dangerous. Because, while you are thinking about how you are going to get your next high, I am simply thinking about how I am going to hurt, dissect you, and, finally, break you.
You like to talk smack, Tommy. But you need to get your facts straight. You talked about how I started off here in APW with a bang. Sure. If you call a two month losing streak a bang. It looks to me like you ARE starting your return here the same way I started here. "With a bang."
Branden grins.
Harvey: You do not know much about what I have done outside APW because there never was an outside APW. This is where I started my wrestling career. I have been here since I started. Over a year now. This is just more proof that you do not know how to do your homework.
You say that you will win because you are more experienced than I am. So is Jason Royce. And, I know this is not saying much but, I have beaten Jason Royce. In fact, I think anyone that has wrestled in a match against Jason Royce has beaten him. But that completely throws away your "experience" analogy.
Am I comparing you to Jason Royce? No. Am I saying experience does not matter? No. I am simply saying that experience alone does not preclude a win or a loss.
Oh. But you are also "bigger than me." So is everyone I have ever stepped in the ring with. That includes the people I have beaten. As for your claim, with no apparent evidence, that you are a more skilled competitor than I am, where is your proof? Your World Heavyweight Championship Match on pay-per-view? Or am I thinking of me?
Tommy Knoxville, you talk about writing checks your ass can not cash? That is what you have been doing since you returned here in APW. That is what you constantly and consistently did during your first run in APW. Tommy Knoxville, you are in the business of writing checks your ass can not cash. And even now, when facing a main eventer, you are still writing these checks. Some people never learn.
Tommy Knoxville, you are a nothing in the wrestling business. In your first run with APW, you won very few matches. Your second run will not be any different. You lost at Shockwave. And you will lose on Asylum. I am not a psychic. This is not a premonition. I am not a bookee. This is not a prediction. But I am a wrestler. And this is a promise.
Branden, now done with his speech to Tommy Knoxville, turns his chair back to the computer and continues down the card to Match 5.
Harvey: San Diego Seagulls vs. Fighting Spirit. I do not know anything about either of these teams. They are both new to APW. But I like the name "Fighting Spirit." I am going to pick them for Asylum.
Then, Branden Harvey sees the words that make his blood boil.
Harvey: Main Event: First Blood Battle Royal for the #1 Contendership of the APW World Heavyweight Championship.
Branden stands up and grabs the chair, throwing angrily through the window. His wife, Lisa, runs in the room after hearing the window smash.
Lisa: What is wrong?
Branden keeps hearing those words go through his head.
#1 Contendership of the APW World Heavyweight Championship. #1 Contendership of the World heavyweight Championship.
Those fateful, infuriating words go through his head over and over again. Lisa inturrupts his thoughts and again asks her question.
Lisa: Branden, what is wrong? Why did you throw that chair through the window?
After a few minutes, Branden has enough presence of mind to answer.
Harvey: Lisa, you keep telling me this conspiracy is all in my head. But you saw Shockwave. You saw how good I did against Rico, right?
Lisa: Yes.
Harvey: Then why, when they have a #1 Contendership Match on the card, do they instead put me in a meaningless match against Tommy Knoxville. Why am I not in the #1 Contendership Battle Royal?
Branden motions to the computer.
Harvey: I mean, look.
Branden's eyes fall on the computer screen and he sees a name. One name that stands out. You see, the first person listed as a competitor in the match is Branden Harvey. Branden stops.
Harvey: What?
The scene fades.
