The scene opens in the bedroom of Branden and Lisa Harvey. Branden is sitting on his bed and playing Mortal Kombat. He is completely enthralled in the game. So enthralled that he oes not hear his wife, Lisa, enter the bedroom. That is until she talks.
Lisa: HEY!
Branden jumps. He looks at Lisa.
Branden: What?
He hears the words "Finish Him" come from the game. He looks back.
Branden: CRAP! Now I am dead.
He watches Scorpion deliver his Nethergate fatality. He looks at Lisa, visibly annoyed.
Branden: What do you want?
Lisa: I am sorry you died but you should be preparing for your match with Jade Jaro anyway.
Branden: That is what I am doing.
Lisa: How are you going to prepare for a match by playing video games?
Branden pauses the game before explaining.
Branden: Not just any game. Mortal Kombat.
Lisa looks confused so Branden explains.
Branden: Think about it, Lisa. I need to get into my opponents head to win my match. I need to learn their moves inside and out. I figure, how better to learn someone's moves than to play as them? So, I have been playing Mortal Kombat as Jade. I figure if I beat the game with Jade, in ladder mode of course, which I have never done, I will have to learn her moves inside and out to do it. Once I learn her moves inside and out, I will know what to do to counter them. Does that make sense?
Lisa: I think it made sense for a minute. But, Branden, I do not think Jade Jaro is the same Jade from Mortal Kombat.
Branden: Sure she is.
Lisa: Jade Jaro is a lot prettier.
Branden: How do you know? She keeps her face covered in Mortal Kombat. Plus, I made it this far in APW without using low kick. That is how you get to fight Jade.
Lisa shakes her head and walks out of the room. Branden unpauses the games and, at the character select screen, he picks Jade. He continues to play the game as the scene fades.
The scene opens in the living room of Branden Harvey. Branden looks into the camera and begins to speak.
Branden: Jade Jaro, your time is done. You have only been in APW a short time but that time is coming to an end. I know how you compete. I know how you wrestle. I have beaten Shao Kahn. I know now what I must do.
I have to take that damn staff of yours out of the equation. I have to not use any projectiles because you can walk right through them. And, when I hear "Finish Him," I need to preform a Pheonix 630.
Branden laughs hysterically.
Branden: I am sorry. I could not keep that up for much longer. I do not really think you are the character Jade from Mortal Kombat. You are not talented enough. I just thought it would be humorous to try and talk to you like you were a video game character.
And it was. But then I got bored.
So, let us talk seriously. Jade, you are new to APW. You are new to Asylum. You do not know what it takes to win here. It takes guts. It takes determination. And it takes intelligence. You have the skills. But you are lacking these three things. And these things are integral for success. Not just on Asylum. But in APW as a whole. That is what makes us so action packed.
I would like to start by talking about guts. On the last Asylum, you were in the Number One Contender First Blood Battle Royal with me. That match is usually called a Last Blood Match but I digress. You seemed to have a lot of guts. I mean, you were willing to be busted open in your first match with this damn company. In fact, at first glance, you seemed to have more guts than brains. And I think you did. But that is not saying much, considering your I.Q. level.
But you did not have enough guts to be successful here. You lost the match. Now, I realize I lost the match as well but it was only because some jerk that I will destroy at the next convenient time interfered in the match AFTER I had already eliminated him. If it was not for Chris Cyrus, I would have won the match because I DO have the guts. You were scared of success and that was your downfall and that was how you lost the match. And, on Asylum, I will use my extrordinary amount of guts to beat you.
Now, on to determination. You do not have the determination to succeed in APW. A good determination level would have brought you at least to the final two in the match. I have the determination but, once again, I was defeated by events that were beyond my control. Chris Cyrus will pay but right now I need to focus on you.
Branden shakes his head and tries to get Chris Cyrus out of it. He seems very angry for a minute before breathing slowly and continuing to talk to Jade Jaro, now calmer.
Branden: Your determination level caused you to lose the match. I mean, third place? Fourth if you count Tommy Knoxville, who is the only person I have ever seen lose an elimination match without actually being eliminated. I guess I did beat his ass pretty hard and he did not want any more.
But, anyway, third and fourth places are losers places. Jade Jaro, you are a loser and I will use my spectacular amount of determination to beat you on Asylum.
Finally, we will talk about your intelligence. You are so stupid, so dimwitted, that you did not even submit a bio to APW.com. It is probably because you do not know how to read or write. And that is okay. You know, if you were born in the seventeenth century.
You are probably watching this right now and are too fascinated by the bright colors to listen to a word I am saying. I mean, you ARE a friend of Jason Kash.
It takes brains to win in APW, toots. And I am afraid I am in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
Jade Jaro, friend of Kitana, you are out of your league. And, on Asylum, I will be the one to advance to One Night in Hell. I will be the one to compete inside the Extreme Elimination Chamber. And I will be the one that becomes the new World Heavyweight Champion.
Branden Harvey gives the camera a smirk as the scene fades.
