After Overdrive…
The scene opens outside of the hotel where Kate Horton and Charles Scripps are staying at in Stockholm. Both are dressed in classy clothes as Kate begins to talk about her upcoming Asylum match against Sally Talfourd. The San Diego Seagulls clearly are not in a good mood especially Charles Scripps. He’s just lost another match and his partner Kate is trying to calm him down as they sit on the benches still in disbelief that he’d lost yet again since she’s just started filming her promo for her big match on Asylum.
Scripps: I just can’t catch a break can I?
Kate looks frustrated as well.
Horton: We haven’t won a match yet as a team in a major promotion, not here and certainly not anywhere else.
Scripps: It’s frustrating. I can’t even win a singles match against Zachary Rodell!
Horton: Charles, this week I have a match that could change everything for us.
Nothing that she says seems to get Charles out of his melancholy funk.
Scripps: More like your big chance…
Kate gives him a look before sighing and turning to the camera to address her opponent.
Horton: This is going to be a make or break week for my career. This week I'm facing Sally Talfourd, the so called ‘BEST’ woman’s athlete here in APW…
She stops for a moment to shake her head in disgust.
Horton: That is truly pathetic. Now I’ve seen your kind in this business before. You talk a big game and back it up before leveling off. That’s what I’ve seen from you. You reached the biggest height of your career but now are at a point where reaching that level of success will be highly unlikely. That is what you will find out the hard way when you face me in our first ever match on Asylum. What you and everyone else fails to realize is that I’m here to be an athlete, not an entertainer.
She points to herself as her facial expression becomes even more intense than it was before she pointed to herself.
Horton: I am the top female athlete in this industry, bar none. I’m not one of these prissy little models walking around in a thong wrestling in banana pudding lingerie pillow fights. I go out to the ring and I beat the crap out of the men. That is what I do. I like to hurt people and you’re the next person that I plan on hurting. You may be just another pretty face but your pretty face is going to look hideous and disfigured when I’m through with you.
Now let me tell you a little story. When I was a little girl I wasn’t watching My Little Pony or playing with Barbies. I was watching rugby and wrestling and wanted to be a football player. As you can tell I wasn’t a girlie girl and never have been. Wrestling is a business that I got into because I am a wrestler who wrestles and doesn’t prance around the ring like a little princess. I will come out to the ring for one purpose and that is to show all of APW and the wrestling world just who the dominant female is in this company.
It’s that simple, Sally. You are nothing but a means to an end for me. I want to prove that I am what I say I am and the only way to do that is by defeating you. I have to show that I am a woman of my word and that’s the only way I can do it. In my mind if I defeat you soundly and move on to the Elimination Chamber match I have to make a statement. I have to show the world what I’m made of and this match is the best way to do it.
I am a woman who needs to feel respected and here lately I haven’t felt like I am being respected. Just because I’m on a team called the Seagulls doesn’t mean that myself or my teammate are a joke. We go out to the ring and we do what we do best. We turn your little plans on themselves by making you realize just how good we are at wrestling. I’m not talking about high flying moves or anything like that. I’m talking about suplexes, submission holds, and basic mat wrestling that a lot of wrestlers now days have forgotten about.
Instead now the fans want all of this high flying action and it makes me sick. I do agree that wrestling should be entertaining but not at the expense of the sport itself. As I said earlier, I am an athlete. I’m not an entertainer. I go out to the ring and give it my all every single time I step into the ring. Sally, it’s time that someone put you in your place. At Asylum you will feel the pain and I will break your spirit once and for all.
Kate seems to be extremely motivated for being such a huge underdog going into the match against Sally Talfourd.
Horton: Sally, you’re smart enough to realize the potential that I have. You also see that I’m not here to be eye candy like Hayley Hitch or somebody along those lines. However with everything that you know you still think that you’re the top female athlete here. Sure, you are the trendsetter, but the fact is that you have more experience than me. I know this and you know this. But I’m only going to get better. That is the difference. You’re going to continue to be stuck in neutral and not reach the level you once were at. On Asylum I plan on showing you and everybody else just who is the real most dominant female here in APW.
You say that I’m cool to stay but only IF I can cut it with you. That right there shows your weakness. Your ego and overconfidence is going to be your downfall. Your weaknesses are what I plan on exploiting. I plan on going through you to get to the Elimination Chamber match. What this place needs is a wake up call. Over on Overdrive the wake up call was the formation of the Elite Posse. By comparison on Asylum it will be me, the huge underdog, defeating the great Sally Talfourd to the shock of everybody. That is what I plan on doing, Sally/ I plan on shocking everybody and not giving them the wake up call they deserve but the one that they need.
This match is all about getting into the Elimination Chamber match. It’s a match that I’ve never been in. The fact that I got chosen to possibly get a spot in the match even over my partner is a huge honor and I don’t plan on disappointing when I face you in the ring. The main event is what my ultimate goal is be a World Champion. You have already done that in your career here in APW. I plan on doing the same thing. Winning the elimination chamber and being a world champion.
Ironic, isn’t it? You’re ultimate downfall is going to come to the second coming of yourself. A strong woman who is going to go on to the Elimination Chamber match and win it to become World Champion just like you did. Last year you did what no one thought you would do. This year I plan on doing that not once but twice. Nobody thinks that I can beat you let alone win the chamber match. Nobody is giving me a chance in Hell and that pisses me off. I know what I can do. I know that I have the heart of a champion but I need to show everyone out there what I know.
Scripps: You do make some good points, Kate. You are the person that everyone thinks has the worst chance of making it to the chamber match. Nobody is giving you a chance and I hope that you prove the doubters wrong.

Someone who is every bit the strong female that you are.
She seems to relish all of this. This is the first bit of attention she’s gotten anywhere in this business and the fact that it’s against Sally Talfourd, an idol of the women’s wrestling industry. This week for her is going to be a match where nobody is giving her a chance. This is her shot to make everyone see that she’s worth a damn and that’s exactly what she wants.
Horton: This is the biggest match of your career, not mine. If you lose, you lose every bit of momentum that you’ve finally gained back. This match is everything for you which is why I believe you are taking it so seriously. At least you know I can give you a hell of a match. However I still don’t think that you think that I can beat you. That irks me. That is going to be my motivation coming into the ring this week. I will show you no remorse and no mercy. I plan on making an example of you to everyone here in APW. Before they were talking about Sally Talfourd. Now they will be talking about Kate Horton. Myself and Charles are the top two rising stars in this company.
This week I’m going into this match on a mission to win it. I have the confidence that I need and the wrestling ability to get it done. All of this talking isn’t going to matter when we step into the ring. This is all just a selling point to put butts in the seats. When the bell sounds that’s when we find out who the best really is. You say that I won’t be able to stop you but I want you to be prepared for the rude awakening that I am able to stop you. I’m the freight train that’s going to run over your runaway truck. You can talk about what you think reality is in regards to this match but that fact is what I just said is your reality. I am going to run you over and leave you in a heap before going on to my first elimination chamber match. I’m not Lester Only, I’m not Biggs, I’m not CJ Gates, and I don’t want to be. I’m Kate Horton and I’m your worst nightmare. You’d better train like you’ve never trained before because I’m going to make you reach your limit. On Sunday it will be your own version of Bloody Sunday and I will be the victor. I’ll see you in the ring.
Kate smiles at the camera before walking off screen with Charles before she says something she regrets. She obviously feels disrespected by the entire industry and that is fueling her hatred for her opponent and the industry she loves this week. The scene then slowly fades to black.
