The camera opens up with a view of a studio, yes its APW online - its live streamed show that can only be seen via APW.com! The studio is your basic blue chromo key screen, and in the background projected is a still of the arena for the last Overdrive show. The ring is empty, but the fans in the arena and the titantron blank. Sitting down in real chairs is Phil - Wrestling most overrated reporter and next to Him is Matt Metal. Phil has been able to put on a shirt, and has his glasses on. Metal is wearing a famous Nu Metal T-Shirt, black jeans and old School Nike Trainers. Both and facing the camera but at such an angle than then are also talking to one another. But, this being Internet TV - They got hand hold mic's and due to the gay streaming of the software Jeff provides us, its in rubbish quality.
Phil - "Hello and Welcome to APW Online, they only internet TV show that isn't on YOU-Tube"
Metal - "LOL"
Phil - "For this show, I am going to be having a Chat with Matt Metal, about his career and what drove him away from the business, the success, and why he is making his return."
*Cue your typical APW title credits - APW ONLINE!*
Phil - "So as easy as it is to describe, here is the man who holds the 6 world titles, 3 Xtreme or Hardcore titles as your would call them, one example of a Intercontinental title so to speak, but was also voted Superstar of the year 2003 and 2004, Won match of the year in his final match in 2005, was involved in Feud of the year many times, has wrestled and retired a lot of people in this business. But despite what HJ called probably the Greatest superstar in CWF and WWC history, never main evented Rasselmania. From his explosion onto the scene in February 2003 to walking out of the business in late 2005, we find out the Matt, behind the Metal….so to speak.!"
Metal - "Thanks Phil, but you forgot one thing, I debut you and got you your first job, mainly interviewing me!"
Phil - "Yes indeed, now allow me to start from the top, you have had many matches that stand out.. Indeed you are noted for your love of wrestling, and didn't condone the violence aspect of it."
Metal - "True, but my view was that if every match is a death match, the no holds barred element doesn't mean anything anymore. But if the feud, setting and timing is right, sticking a gimmick in to end the rivalry on screen is really how it should be."
Phil - "So gimmicks aside, your favourite matches…."
Metal - "Ah, well I'll start then.. First I guess its Rasselmania 2003, wrestling Xtreme title against Dr Matt - I was the fresh rookie, and he was the vet, but I got a solid lesson that night. Jeff had told me not to be down that I was loosing, he had bigger plans. So Dr Matt started to call, having never done a gimmick bout like this before, a let him guide me. WOW, I know how to bump after that match I'll tell you that much. It hurt, but we did go out there and do something special that night - personally I think we stole the show, but I walked away feeling very proud of myself after that night."
Phil - "Even though you lost?"
Metal - "Hey, sometimes it isn't always about winning, its how people react to you, I mean month later won the CWF title with a lotta help of Dr Matt, then in a 3 on 3 match I lost to HJ. So Champ with one real match under his belt, I got to face HJ in a hell in the Cell match. THAT was were I think people stood up and took notice - and all credit to Jeff.. He wanted to make me a star in that company and I owe him a great deal and thank him very much for it. He pulled out all the stops and I retained my belt over him. Great feeling but knowing who I would face next made it even more special…"
Phil - "That being Alternativ…"
Metal - "Oh Man! Yeah it was such a huge match we had. The build up was great, last show before the PPV I pinned him using the Jackal's edge and before we locked up for the first time, the reaction of the fans gave us both such an adrenaline rush it still sends shivers down my spine to think of that moment, OK that match ended in a D/Q but I kicked out of his best move, and being a typical heel cheated to take the title away from him, in fact the more I think of it, the better it makes me feel personally…"
Phil - "So then you went on to beat him in a street fight at sandblast, then looses the title in an elimination chamber match, and eliminated the nWo and started the Andy McHeyman feud."
Metal - "Yes, well it had been 5 months as the champ, so I new it was time to do something new, I took a few weeks out to sell and injury, and come to sudden death, which I think was CWF's perfect PPV…It had everything, including Trevor Blackwell that night making himself a star in a hardcore match with D2K - oh that owned. But the main event was me vs. McHeyman, Andy really brought his A-Game to that night, and it the heat from the fans, the tension was unbearable, but Metal won and held up the CWF title again, but credit to Andy, I think we made that feud special…"
Phil - "So a new year and Twister…"
Metal - "Ah the former Edge, well he did beat me back in September for the title, but lost it though injury to McHeyman, and then I won it back, so winter warfare, we fought in England and I won, but then what started was a great rivalry - he went heel over a real slow period of time, and then took the belt from me, and then we were left to build up to the last PPV before Mania, Hell in the Cell. All I can say is wow, working with Twister is a great privilege, he know's how to make things work, and that night is something I won't forget quickly. It was eventually after that, Twister won the belt back again and went to main, I went to fight with Alternativ again but it was another 3 month feud which is so rare in this business, and we both came out looking better than we went in, and in all fairness that is what a feud should do. You go in looking good, come out win or loose looking even better!"
Phil - "Then the end of CWF"
Metal - "It was sad, I can tell you that, but I did enjoy my time there, hopefully APW can get that same feel, and it does at the moment. But to retire holding up the title for a fourth time, and final time…. Hey its sitting up in my home in England, and yes Jeff, I take real good care of it man,"
Phil - "OK, then we have a new era, and WWC - there Trevor Blackwell, Spirit Tara Jacobs, Martin J, Singer and Kenny Lombardo made news for themselves there. - you go in after a hiatus with neck problems…"
Metal - "Its what Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Stone Cold Steve Austin all had, I had a new type of surgery, and within 5 months I was back doing what I love, but this time as fully fledge heel, being the complete bad ass, pussying out of everything playing almost royalty. I became really hated in WWC for the fact that I was this heel, that each and every time I found a new way of winging my was to remaining the champion, that of course involved SIN a lot but hey, it made for great TV!"
Phil - "So what really sticks out in your mind in WWC."
Metal - "Erm, there was this one match I had with Trevor Blackwell, and weapons were banned, it was a full rules wrestling match, but SIN were ringside. I think that night everybody got to see that Trevor can wrestle, and it took four people, the ropes and tights to get him to stay down. OK, I got the win but Blackwell really got over, shame I never got to have that one on one PPV main event feud, I wanted to in CWF, but even in WWC when Blackwell was the hottest thing there was, I never got my chance. Shame."
Phil - Any Others??"
Metal - "Beating Kenny Lombardo for the WWC title for a seconded time, after the little fucker beat me out of the blue on TV, hey that was a fund feud to do…but for me it was surviving the elimination chamber. I have to say I have never given so much to one match, I was completely drained as a result, but somehow, thanks to my old pal Alternativ, I was carried out the WWC Champion, I what was for me another 4 months title reign. Still get chill's thinking about that night. But HJ really brought his A-Game to that PPV, we really went for it and yeah I sneaked the win, but Jeff that night became the WWC'S Number one face, and number one superstar. Again shame I never got to wrestle him for the WWC title, we were planning that but hey, shit happens!"
Phil - "So leaving the business then?"
Metal - "I was burned out, every time I wrestled my neck hurt, I knew I would have to take a year out but I though to myself would I want to come back? I just wasn't happy with the state of the business, but I went out, put MJS over and I am pleased to say I think I had a great match, I mean the people think so - it won match of the year - but I walked away for the last time and felt pleased, not for me but for MJS, because he became champion and another star. I was just the first step in his ladder to success."
Phil - "So why come back???"
Metal - "Well after time, old wounds healed, I started to get back into health and eventually found out that not only did I want to get back into the ring, physically I could. Then low and be-hold, Jeff contacts me. Before I know what I am doing I am part of APW and due to debut anytime soon, I am really enjoying it here and gotta say I can't wait to get going!"
Phil - "And the catchphrase…"
Metal - "Well I am pleased people remember it, that was my intention 5 years ago so to speak and understand that people are pleased to here that, hey its can only be good."
*Cuts to an old WWC shot of Metal saying , in the ring with the fans signing along…"
"You Can't Stop…..Nu Metal…….On the Block!"
Phil - "So for yourself, it was a good call then?"
Metal - "Hey im a little older, not as mobile or full of the risk's I once took, but I am back and hopefully going to bring a little Old Scholl Metalmania to plate…Hey watch this space!"
Phil - "Thank you Matt, So there you have it. Metalmania is coming back to APW, when? Hell even Matt Metal doesn't know.
*End of Show*
