Who's your favorite NHL team?
I started watching the NHL during the preseason and quickly became a fan of the San Jose Sharks. Your turn.

I at least know Jeff is a Hockey fan. What team do you like, Jeff?

The team I support are the Toronto Maple Leafs. Yeah, they suck, but I liked them before they started sucking
I also a fan of other teams that aren't Ottawa or Montreal

Sadly Toronto.
But since they've been a disappointment for the past, what, decade, I've been more a fan of the game all around then just one team. But of course, Montreal and Ottawa are the enemy.

Starting back when they were good. They've sucked for almost ten years, but they seem to be on their way back up this season. My point is, I feel your pain. HOWEVER, when the Sharks beat the Maple Leafs, I'm still going to mock you about it. It's what I do.

BURN! Good thing I HATE baseball or I might take offense to you doggin my City's baseball team. However if I did have Baseball, Basketball teams none of them would be Houston Based teams. Football is my only sporting love in Houston.

I too am a Leafs fan. A realistic fan at that. I'll just be happy if they make the playoffs this year. The fact that the Bruins won the cup this year gives me hope that the Leafs can turn it around.
As for the Sharks, they're a good team and I wouldn't mind see them winning the cup, but they've got to be the biggest choke artists in the league. Granted, they usually seem to lose to a team that goes to the finals, but they've got great players that don't get it done in the off-season.
They're kinda in the same position in the Capitals, but the Capitals are in an even worse spot: you can't have that many good players and do that shitty in the post-season. You could even lump them in with Vancouver, but at least Vancouver came a helluva lot closer.
You can load a roster, but if you can't win a cup after four or five seasons, you lose your chance. Look at the last three champions; the Bruins, the Blackhawks, and the Penguins. They're three teams that five years ago, nobody wanted to play for. People wanted to go to places like Van-city or San Jose. God knows how long that'll stay that way.

Well, Jesse, our teams are playing each other in the season opener. Good luck. I remember back when the Coyotes started playing here in Phoenix. The first hockey game I went to the Coyotes played San Jose. However, I don't remember who won. lol

Jeff, you underestimate how seriously Americans take their sports. I get pretty hardcore serious when it comes to Golf. I watch the PGA channel all day every day. Then again later during the night all night every night. Then I sleep PGA, dream PGA, then awake to a PGA ringtone. Then do it all over again.

Jeff, you underestimate how seriously Americans take their sports. Funny statement considering every American I know/have talked sports with could care less about hockey lol. Not saying everyone does, but I think of all the major sports, Hockey is towards the bottom of the list.

Not saying everyone does, but I think of all the major sports, Hockey is towards the bottom of the list. I was in New York City the day of the Canada/US Gold Medal Olympic game; and we end up in a bar called Van Diemens where about 400 Canadians had converged. The place was probably as rowdy as any bar in Canada was that day. We ended up taking off shortly after the game was over (it would've been fun to celebrate, but we only had three days in the city, and after arriving at noon, we had spent most of day in new york in a crowded bar... not exactly using time efficiently). Anyways, what really was weird to me was that if we had left any bar in Canada, everyone outside would've been talking about that game and celebrating, whatever. Meanwhile, New York City was completely unaware that a game had even happened. Not that it was unexpected, but it was weird nonetheless. Although I will admit, the newspaper I saw the next day with the headline "Oh Whatever, Canada" is a treasured souvenir from the trip.

That's right up there with that one year the All Star game was in Atlanta, and they had asked residents of the city and most of them didn't even know that the All Star game was in Atlanta that weekend. I realized most (I won't say all, but most) Americans don't care about hockey when I used to help out on a sports website. I moderated the hockey section as well as wrote articles for the site on hockey, and 95% of the time I was talking to myself. On the plus side...how 'bout them Leafs!
