La Jolla, California
Late morning…
After finishing their usual early workout Kate Horton and Charles Scripps are at the local internet café Squires and are drinking some coffee while eating lunch before going surfing. They’ve decided to have a fun day before flying out of the country for both Overdrive and Asylum where they have matches. That is also the topic of their conversation as they eat and drink.
Horton: I can’t wait to get into the ring with Brown. However Harvey is someone I don’t plan on overlooking.
Scripps: Smart move. Brown is the one I should be worrying about. I need to weaken him for your match with him.
Kate smiles.
Horton: Awww…thank you, Charles. You’re such a nice guy.
At this point Charles hives her a strange look.
Scripps: Was that a twinkle in your eye that I just saw?
Kate gets a little squirmy after he asks this almost as if she is hiding something.
Horton: What do you mean?
Scripps: Nothing, never mind. Let’s go back to talking about the match.
There’s an awkward silence between the two at this point for a few moments before Charles breaks the silence.
Scripps: Good coffee.
Kate nods her head.
Horton: Yeah, good coffee.
They both take sips of their coffee as the conversation has clearly gone to hell and become really awkward for both of them.
Scripps: I think we should go and head to the beach.
Kate looks at her watch and nods her head.
Horton: Yes, it’s starting to get late.
They both give each other a look before getting up and heading out of Squires with their coffee in hand.

Hong Kong
Afternoon…
It’s a beautiful day on Kowloon Bay in Hong Kong and standing nearby on the wharf by the edge of the Bay are San Diego Seagulls members Charles Scripps and Kate Horton. Both are wearing what appears to be America’s Cup jackets to go along with their nice looking white dress pants. They have a night out on the town planned but before they can go out as friends Charles has some things to say about his opponent this week “The True Brit” Johnny Brown.
Scripps: This week is going to be a big week for the San Diego Seagulls. First Kate Horton is going to defeat Branden Harvey. Then I’m going to defeat her opponent at One Night in Hell, the current APW Tap Out Champion “The True Brit” Johnny Brown, this week on Asylum. This is going to be a match of the ages as far as in-ring work is concerned. However there is something that has been troubling me and it’s the whiny comments made by my opponent.
Charles sighs, seemingly disappointed at how his opponent was reacting to his previous match before this one.
Scripps: All I heard from you is whining, Brown. That’s it/ Complaining about a loss isn’t going to change the fact that you did in fact lose the match. Showing the world that you are a crybaby is going to do nothing as far as our match is concerned except for get your mind wandering away from what it should be thinking about and that’s stepping into the ring with me. I’m the San Diego Wrestling Machine, son. If you’re too busy thinking about last week then you’re going to be in trouble.
I am a highly skilled machine when it comes to wrestling. Now I want you to look at this match from my perspective. This is a huge match for me that I’m not taking lightly against a champion here in APW. The fact that you are looking at this match like it’s a joke is only going to piss me off. If you go back and look at the history of both wrestling and sports you’ll see that if you piss off an opponent that you feel to be inferior then there are times that they will come into battle ready to kick your ass just for overlooking them. That is the case as it relates to our match.
Unlike you my only focus is on this match. Instead of rambling incoherently using the Queen’s English I’m training like a madman. Instead of whining like a small child I’m working on holds and counter holds to be used in my match. That is the difference between us. I have focus, you don’t. And to be quite frank it shouldn’t be that way. You’re the champion, you’re the man. You should be worrying about holding onto your title instead of some bullshit that happened in the past. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to be preachy when I say this but deep won you know that I’m right.
I also know that you’re right that I should watch out for you and what you can do in the ring. However, that said, no necks will be snapped…at least on my end. In your case that’s another story. When you step into the ring against myself or Kate you will either snap or tap. We have a reputation on the independent circuit for hurting people who don’t tap out soon enough. Many bones have been caused not because we’ve been out to hurt people but they just don’t know when to tap out. Instead they let their egos cause them to wait to long and then SNAP! Their bones snap, crackle, and pop before they start whining and crying like you did about your loss last week.
He stops for a moment to motion to the camera that he’s not thinking ahead about anything.
Scripps: Now I’m not going to get ahead of myself and say that’s what is going to happen when you face me in the ring but there is a good possibility of that going down this week on Asylum. Also let me make one other thing perfectly clear. I don’t need Kate to interfere to help me win my matches and vice versa. We’re not like that. We don’t need outside help to win matches like some people around here, namely the three idiots calling themselves the Elite Posse. The Gulls win on their own just like it should be in this business. We don’t take cheap shots, we don’t ambush people, and we don’t say things that we can’t back up in the ring.
As you can tell I’m not a real talker. I just go to the ring and wrestle. Wrestling is what I do, not talking. Talk is cheap and so are handshakes which is my way of looking at things. I’m not here to be an entertainer and neither is my partner. We’re here to be athletes, it’s that simple. The sheer athleticism and toughness that it takes to be a professional wrestler is unbelievable. Only the most disciplined of athletes can survive in this business and from I’ve seen you’re a good wrestler but you’re undisciplined. You lack the focus that it takes to be a big time star in this business.
I want this to be your wake up call, Brown. At One Night in Hell my partner in crime Kate Horton is going to make that show your one way ticket to Hell. She is a bad ass in the ring. You underestimate her like you’re doing me then you’ll be dead in the water. I already have found your weaknesses just by watching one video of footage featuring you in it. You only care about your title, power, and all of this has made you arrogant. Those are your biggest weaknesses which I fully plan on exploiting.
He smiles at the camera trying hard to hide his true feelings but having a hard time hiding them from the camera.
Scripps: Go on, champ. Continue to look down upon me and the rest of your opponents. I want to make you see the light about the error of your ways. What is going to happen is that you’re going to lose. Your weaknesses will be exploited and I will outwrestle you in the ring. All signs point to yes about me pulling off the upset and beating you on Asylum. Now I will say this much. We’re both similar in the aspect that we both like to do our talking in the ring. However the difference is that I have friends outside of the ring. You on the other hand only care about yourself. That is also why you will lose in life just like you will lose this match.
I’m coming into this match like it’s my last and will stop at nothing to defeat you. However a loss would only be nothing more than a minor setback in the grand scheme of things. I have bigger plans than one match with you. You can overlook this match all you want and think that it’s a joke but I’m going to use this momentum to help propel both myself and Kate to the top of the APW tag team ranks. Since we’ve mainly been in singles matches we haven’t really gotten a chance to do that but a win against Brown will surely make people take even more notice of us which is a good thing.
So I want you to bring your best to the ring because you know I will. I want you to bring the best that you have because if you don’t I will destroy you in the ring. I will leave you a broken, crippled man with a shattered ego and broken bones. It’s that simple. I’m not a man that you want to fuck with. I am the San Diego Wrestling Machine and I will show you the true meaning of the words pain and suffering this week on Asylum. I’ll see you in the ring.
Scripps smiles before walking off with Kate as the scene fades to black.
