After Asylum…
Despite winning a grueling match earlier in the evening on Asylum and upsetting APW Tap Out Champion “True Brit” Johnny Brown, Charles Scripps isn’t in a happy mood. Instead he seems to be in a vile, angry mood. Kate Horton, his tag team partner in the San Diego Seagulls, walks in after taking her shower and notices his mood change immediately.
Scripps: Kate, I’m pissed off.
This statement concerns Kate.
Horton: What are you so mad about? You beat Johnny Brown. There’s no reason why you should be so mad after something like that.
Charles sighs before responding to her comments with a rant.
Scripps: I’m not mad about that. What I’m mad about is the fact that I’m in a match that I think is beneath me at One Night in Hell. No way in hell an athlete of my talent level should be in a match that isn’t even on the main card. How the hell does that make any sense? I’m BY FAR on the biggest roll of any of these wrestlers in the match. I could beat guys in the main event for crying out loud yet I’m stuck in the match with the ‘Devil’s Rejects’ so to speak. It’s degrading to me. We should at least be in the Tag Title match or something. I’m ranked number eight in the entire company in the latest rankings and THIS is what I get? It’s pathetic.
Everything Charles said strikes a nerve with Kate and changes her mood about the whole thing.
Horton: You know what? You’re right. You have every right to be mad about this.
Scripps: Damn right I should be. I didn’t get into this business to be some guy who opens up the show. And to boot it’s a costume battle royal. Why in the world would I want to wear a costume when I wrestle? I know it’s for the fans and all but it’s insulting to me as a wrestler to wear some sort of degrading costume for a match. I’m not a diva.
Horton: And neither am I.
Scripps: But you’re not in some stupid costume match. I don’t like Halloween or costumes. We should be taking on the Red Shield Mafia and Organized Violence for the Tag Titles and winning them instead of this. I really don’t care about this match to be honest about it. I’ll show up and do what I do but quite frankly the whole match isn’t worthy of my time.
Horton: Any match is a good match and a win is a win no matter who it’s against.
Scripps: That’s true but I want to be in a match that actually means something. This match means NOTHING. No one’s going to remember who wins it or even care for that matter. I want more…
At this point their nemesis from San Diego, APW’s masked villain Ebirah, walks into their locker room with a big smile on his face. Both Charles and Kate get into fighting stances immediately as he motions for them to calm down.
Ebirah: Wait, hold on. I’m not here to kick your ass even though everyone in this room knows that I could take you two down by myself.
This comment only further enrages Charles.
Scripps: We would you send you to the hospital, asshole. Bring it on if you have the balls to. We’ll send you to the hospital.
Charles cracks his knuckles as Ebirah glares at them.
Ebirah: Are you threatening me, Charles?
Charles: Where are your Posse friends? Are they going to come back you up when we kick your ass?
Ebirah: I AM the Posse.
Ebirah smartly realizes he is losing his cool and backs off before going back to what he intended to talk to them about.
Ebirah: I’m not here to fight you. I’m here to make you an offer that you can’t refuse. I want you two to join the Elite Posse.
This comment leaves both Kate and Charles flabbergasted. This is the last thing they thought they would hear from the man who’s been their enemy in this business since day one.
Scripps: What?
Ebirah: I know what’s been troubling you. You are feeling overlooked by President Jeff and General Manager Reginald. It’s upsetting to me that they don’t fully appreciate your talent in the ring. In order for them to appreciate what you bring to the table you need to join with me. In order to get what you want and that’s to the top of APW you need to join with me.
Horton: Are you kidding me?
Ebirah: No, I am not kidding you. You two are the most underrated talents here in APW. You need what I can give you to take over this federation from within.
Charles isn’t buying it.
Scripps: You’re not going to fool us, Ebirah. We know how you operate. You’re the biggest liar and manipulator in this company. You did this same thing in PCW back in San Diego when we all broke into this business together before you went rogue. We know that you’re only going to use us for as long as it benefits you so we’re not falling for it.
All of this just makes Ebirah smile at him for some reason.
Ebirah: Fine by me. But if you want to get off the undercard then you need me to do it. You two are nothing without joining forces with me. You can trust me. If you decide not to be fools and change your minds here’s my card…
He hands Charles a card and then heads for the door.
Ebirah: I’ll see you two later when you smarten up…
Ebirah walks out. As soon as the door swings to a close Charles looks down at the card and sees that it’s a tarot card…the card with a picture of death on it as the scene fades to black.

Afternoon…
It’s a beautiful afternoon in San Diego, California especially in the historic Gaslamp District where Charles Scripps is standing by with some comments about the Costume Battle Royal that will take place at APW’s annual One Night in Hell extravaganza. As the camera turns onto the scene he is wearing some casual apparel that is the polar opposite of his demeanor. Kate is in the casual attire as well and seems focused for her match at the show as Charles begins to speak.
Scripps: Last week I defeated “True Brit” Johnny Brown and now this week I’m in a battle royal match that clearly is beneath me. Nobody in this match can match up to me and you all know it just like the people at home know it. There’s NO WAY the best technical wrestler in this company should be in a pre-show dark match against a bunch of guys floundering on the bottom that haven’t done anything of relevance in weeks. I have a win over the best in APW and what have any of you done? Nothing of note other than unmeaningful wins against opponents who phoned it in because they stopped caring just like you stopped caring about your careers long ago.
Now before I get any further I was approached by some masked idiot I know from the San Diego wrestling scene named Ebirah about joining his Elite Posse faction here in APW. For those of you who don’t know after Asylum Ebirah came up to both myself and Kate to offer us membership into his fledgling little faction. He said that only with his backing would we make it anywhere here in APW. He also wanted an answer from us about joining before One Night in Hell. Well here is your answer…
He reaches into his pocket and pulls out the card that he received from Ebirah after Asylum was finished. He then proceeds to teat it to shreds. The pieces of the card fall all over the floor. Charles then smiles at the camera before continuing.
Scripps: Now that you have your answer I’m going to move on to the participants in the battle royal that are more worth my time then you will ever be, Ebirah. I’m through talking about you. You’ve taken up enough of my time as it is. In fact I’ll go so far as to say that you should be in this match instead of me. However that’s not the case. I’m in this match against a bunch of guys who shouldn’t even be on the show and that’s the truth.
First we have Zachary Rodell, a man who cannot even beat you Ebirah. I beat the Tap Out Champion of APW last week. What have you done in the past few weeks? Win last week against a weak, feeble opponent and that’s it. I can beat you on my worst day and that definitely will not be at One Night in Hell. Arcadia isn’t much better than you to be quite honest. At least she’s smart enough to hide her face behind a mask like Ebirah does because if I was her I would do the same thing. I’m going to make you wish you never came back when I lock in the LaBell Lock and then toss you out to the floor with the rest of my opposition in this match. Jamarcus Haze is another guy who got a win last week. However the fact is that you are just another middle of the road type of guy who’s going to let his ego destroy his career. I’ve seen it time in and time out in this business. This match is going to show you just who the elite really is here in APW and you will find out that the San Diego Wrestling Machine isn’t just a name but is the truth. I’ve got more moves than you have brain cells and that is why you will be one of the first to fall.
Matt Ward is a man who’s been here before. He’s a man who has made an impact in this industry and that is why he is the one person in this match that really comes across as a threat to me. I think you’re a hell of an athlete, Ward. I really do but the fact is that I’m the one person in this match who should not be in this match. I should be challenging for a title but instead I’m stuck against you and the rest of the rejects of the main show in a battle royal. Look at the APW rankings right now. Who is the only person in the top then that is not on the main card?
He stops to point to himself with an intense look on his face as he continues his monologue about the battle royal and his competition in the match.
Scripps: I am. I’m ranked higher than half of the people in the main event…HALF! And so is my partner! So me being in this match is only going to piss me off. My anger over not being on the main show is going motivate me to the win in this match. It’s easy to figure out. However Ward I’m not going to look past you. You are my biggest threat in the match and I will be looking to eliminate you from the match as early as possible. The bigger the threat the quicker I plan on dealing with it.
Next on my list is Mr. Dangerous, a man who couldn’t wrestle himself out of a wet paper bag. I have more wrestling ability in my pinky than you do in your entire body. You are the most worthless wrestler in APW. If you even come CLOSE to winning this match I will be in shock. Adam Young is a man who seemingly just doesn’t care about this match. The fact is I hate being in that match but I care too much about it. The fact that you’re too busy talk on a damn cell phone to care about the match is disrespectful to everyone else in this match most notably myself. The fact is that you are a non-factor in this match just like you are a non-factor here in APW on a weekly basis. I am going to take great pleasure in kicking your ass all over Tokyo before dumping your carcass out to the floor where it belongs with the rest of the trash.
Pyro is another newcomer here in APW and is a man that quite frankly I know nothing about however I’m not overlooking you. By contrast I think that the fact that none of us know anything about you makes you just as dangerous as Ward is. The same can be said for Trevor Jennings who will most likely be joining the match soon. Trevor, you’re the oldest wrestler in this match. That is also your biggest weakness. You will be sucking in air quicker than most vacuum cleaners do while cleaning the floor. Unlike Pyro you are not that much of a threat to me for that very reason. I know you’ve been on the indy circuit for years but I don’t think that experience will help you out much in this match. Pyro, you are at the top of my list of targets. Hopper Rose is the other participant in this match. You’ve been here before just like Ward has. The only difference is that you’re returning from an injury in August. That ring rust isn’t going to help you out against an athlete like myself. Lastly Katrina Olivetti is in this match as well. I want you to bring your best because I want you to realize that your best just wasn’t good enough to beat me.
At One Night in Hell the world is going to realize just how good Charles Scripps is when I dominate the battle royal and show APW just who the most underrated wrestler is in this company. I’ll see you all in the ring.
Charles and Kate walk off screen as the camera trains on the Little Italy section of the Quarter before the scene fades to black.
