Cindy Shannon had very few regrets in life.
She regretted not going steady with that geeky bastard that sat behind her in Biology class in high school. He was completely infatuated with her and willing to do anything it took to please her but she spurned his advances.
He was now worth ninety two million dollars.
She regretted working in that diner to pay her way through College. In order to make extra money she had to do some...favors for the boss. It left her with a mistake inside that while easily rectified was not a decision she wanted to make.
Cindy Shannon had very few regrets in life.
And then she decided to be nosy.
Granted, she hated the bastard and wanted him fired by any means necessary. He was abrasive, vile, arrogant, and he had the uncanny ability to make her feel like shit or silver with nothing but a cocky smile. She had complained to Action Packed Wrestling President Jeff about the way he addressed her and how uncomfortable she felt interviewing him but Jeff assured her that it was nothing but a character and that it was all for the fans, nothing more and nothing less. But she knew. She didn't know how she knew; she just knew.
She knew it wasn't a character.
She knew deep down inside that no man's mind could work in such an uncaring and calculating capacity unless it had endured a severe series of traumatic experiences and developed into something uncaring, something dangerous....
Something that should be in a mental institution.
So she did some snooping. She looked into his work in past organizations. She peered into his upbringing from his early teens upward. She delved into his academic career. She ran into a roadblock - a plethora of sealed documentation not meant for layman's eyes - but she greased the right palms to get what she wanted. She figured that if President Jeff wouldn't open his eyes and see that he had a very bad employee on the talent roster that maybe cold hard evidence would force him to do so.
What she found....
Made her pity him....
And everyone else in Action Packed Wrestling.
His parents were hard creatures; they felt their son wasn't masculine enough. He loved animals, nature, and making his parent happy - the latter easier said than done. Because they felt their son wasn't man enough for them they thought it would be a hoot to force their son to attend a Catholic School for his formative years.
An all-girl's Catholic School.
According to a case study conducted by leading Michigan psychologists the young girls at the Academy made his young life a living hell. Through some intense investigation Michigan State Police determined that the school girls constantly attacked the young man both mentally and emotionally.
They battered him.
They beat him.
They fondled and raped him.
And he had decided to make them pay - by attempting to burn the St. Mary's Catholic Preparatory School to ash with all of its inhabitants inside.
One of the young girls discovered the young man's plan and alerted the nuns who were able to notify the Police and have the youngster taken away. The cops took him away...way too late.
The damage was done. He would never be the same again.
That night, that faithful night fifteen years ago, was the last time anyone ever saw the cute young gentleman who wouldn't hurt a fly and loved animals named Pharoah Faquan Ahmed Bolding-Ramsey.
There was only Doctor Phate now.
The psychiatrists he'd visited throughout the years had done all they could to make him a well-adjusted member of society. Drugs, Rorshach tests, electro-therapy.
Nothing worked.
Sure, some things were short-term solutions, allowing Pharoah to keep control of his body and mind for months at a time. Then something traumatic would happen.....a fellow student would ridicule him, a girl would trun him down for a date, a teacher would be harder on him than other students. Something like this would happen...
And Doctor Phate would take center stage once more.
It had been happening his whole life - including his professional wrestling career - but his psychiatrists believed he had finally conquered the demons and was ready to live a regular life.
Then JZ had to open his mouth.
JZ triggered it and now Action Packed Wrestling would have to find a way to deal with it because, according to match tape and all the retrospectives available on his career, Doctor Phate's alter-ego might have been good for business but it was NOT good for the roster.
"What have we gotten ourselves into?", she whispered to herself breathlessly.
What indeed.
