Dan Quinn is sitting in his New York home, with James Stanley. There is a pile of letters on the coffee table and James looks extremely stressed.
James Stanley: Dan, you are by far, the MOST frustrating client I have EVER had in my career, and that is saying something. Over 100 people have complained about your promo against Anthony Bailey. You do realise you now have to issue a public apology?
Dan looks calm and sits back in his sofa
Dan Quinn: Yeah sure, when’s that then?
James looks shocked at how calm he is being, but bats it off and answers him.
James Stanley: Well, erm, later on today I suppose. There’s a lot of press wanting to talk to you. How can you be so calm about this?
Dan Quinn: Because Bailey did exactly what I expected him to, now I know that ‘e’s as predictable as I thought, I can go into our match knowing exactly ‘ow to beat the guy.
James Stanley: What do you mean predictable? Predictable how?
Dan sits up in his seat and leans forward, picks up a few of the letters and reads them aloud..
Dan Quinn: “Dear, Mr Quinn, I believe your comments about the African-American communi’y are racist and ignorant” blah blah blah… “Fuck off you Bri’ish faggot” blah blah blah, “We’re petitioning to ‘ave you removed from the APW roster” blah blah bloody blah. What ‘ave all these responses got in common, Stanley?
James Stanley: Erm, they all think you’re an arsehole.
Dan shoots him an unimpressed look
Dan Quinn: They are all an emotional response to something I said. I knew the rest of my promo would be ignored, and everything that was to do with wrestling within it would be forgotten. You know ‘ow I knew? Because I know exactly ‘ow to get under people’s skin. Remember when I said I know ‘ow to take a joint, take a nerve and work it until you can no longer go on, well I can do it emotionally as well, I touched a nerve, and instead of ‘avin’ a promo about ‘ow e’s gonna beat me, about the match itself, ‘e did the predictable thing of pickin’ one minute detail and blowin’ it up, because e’s too sensitive about it. If you think about it, I said ‘e was a “typical African-American” because ‘e was dreamin’ of bangin’ someone who’s ‘ad more meat packed in ‘er than a butcher’s freezer.
‘E wasted ‘is time on the mic at a bloody symposium about Black history. ‘E then goes onto mention the redcoats, and a Civil War that is over 300 years old. Yet ‘e is supportin’ a country that didn’t abolish the slavery of ‘is race until 1860, whilst us bad, bad British, abolished it in 1807. Let me tell you somethin’ Bailey, I’m not a racist or a bigot, I’ve said many times that race, sex or orientation doesn’t bother me, because I don’t give a fuck as long as the colour red is pouring out of ‘em. I was brought up in East London, where ‘alf the communi’y is black, I beat the fuck out of white kids, black kids, Asian kids, you name it, and they beat the fuck out of me, and let me tell you it was NEVER down to race.
I picked on the point you’re African-American because I KNEW it would get to you, I KNEW it would provoke a reaction, hit the sensitive part of your weak heart, I KNEW you couldn’t let it slide, because I KNEW you are that damn predictable. You are the same crowd pleasing, moral loving, church going good guy that everyone wants to appear to be, you act like you’re above it, like you are unaffected by it, but deep down you want to make me pay. You want to make me suffer for what I said, because what I said goes against over 150 years of progress, because what I said could influence a lot of people, because what I said…could easily be true.
The music industry is filled with stereotypical African-Americans lovin’ women with “big boo’ies” being “Pimps” and “Gangstas”, being chased by the police and using the N-word freely, and these are the people representing the African-American communi’y in America. The intelligent among us know that these depictions are exaggerated and only represent a minori’y of the culture, but it’s that depiction of your race that makes comments like mine offensive, that makes you ‘ate me, because you cannot ‘ate them! I am simply someone to take your anger out on…so what are you waitin’ for Bailey?
You ‘ave the perfect opperuni’y to do what I ‘ave been eggin’ on everyone in this company to do since day one, and that is to enjoy the pain you give to someone. ‘Ow much would you like to plant your fist into my nose? ‘Ow much sa’isfaction would you get from bea’in the livin’ shite out of me, Bailey? You would love it, no ma’’er ‘ow much your God would frown upon it, no ma’’er ‘ow much you want to sit on your ‘igh ‘orse and brush it off, admit it. You want to make me suffer for what I said, you want to make me suffer for bein’ the one to make you realise that I’m not who you’re pissed off at.
At Asylum, Bailey it will be just you and me in that ring. It will be for a place at Rasslemania. You want that spot badly, you want to be a champion so you can rub it in my British face. When I win that match, Bailey, I will be just another step closer to that spot, and you will be just another memory. Instead of the young, up and coming African-American Megastar, a role model for all young, black men being at that Tap-Out title match. It will be the British Brawler, the practitioner of pain, the sickest sadist that professional wrestling ‘as ever known, the man who will use ANYTHING against his opponent just to prove they are just as sick as ‘e is! That will be the man ‘olding the Tap Out title at Rasslemania.
I will do everythin’ I ‘ave told you I will do, I will do to you physically, exactly what I ‘ave done to you emotionally, I will twist, and squeeze those nerves until you can’t take it anymore, I will make you scream, and cry and tap out all over the ring. When you are between those four pillars of pain you wont know the meaning of forgiveness, after I break your spirit and break your bones, all you will be is an imprint on the canvas, and another blood spla’’er on my trunks. At Asylum, Bailey, like everyone else who gets into the ring with me, all you will experience is…
BLOOD
………..
SWEAT
………...
& FEAR!
………….
James is standing by the door; Dan gets up and follows him out.

Dan & James are standing outside Dan’s home, Dan is about to read a prepared statement written by James.
Dan Quinn: Thank you all for comin’. Last week I recorded a promo regarding my upcoming submission match with “The Promise” Anthony Bailey. In what was an oversight on my part, I made a comment, which implied I believe all young African-American men are promiscuous and sexually immoral. I would like to retract this statement and apologise for any offence it may ‘ave caused. These are not my views and I understand that was an insensi’ive comment, I ‘ope that I will be forgiven for this as derogatory comments about any race or culture does not ‘ave any place in promos or the APW in general….
‘Owever, I will not discriminate against anyone in the ring either.
James starts to look worried, as this is not a part of the statement.
I will personally see to it that Anthony Bailey receives the same treatment as every other Megastar I meet in an APW ring. I will see too it that I beat ‘im as badly, so I am as even as possible. I will make sure ‘e bleeds the same colour blood as everyone else, I will see to it that ‘e screams as loud as any other competitor, and most of all I will make sure ‘e taps out as quickly as I make every other competitor. Thank you all for comin’ out, now get the fuck away from my ‘ouse!
The press take lots of pictures and scribble on their note pads before eventually retreating, Dan stands looking proud, wearing his trademark sick smirk as James Stanley stands there with his head in his hands as the scene fades out.
