"The world is not interested in what we do for a living. What they are interested in is what we have to offer freely - hope, strength, love and the power to make a difference!" – Sasha Azevedo
{{The scene opens to the inside of a nicely decorated townhouse belonging to APW mega star Anthony Bailey and located in his residence of St. Augustine, FL. Bailey, facing a forty inch LED TV that happens to be turned off, is seated on a black leather couch in the living room with his feet propped up on the coffee table placed in front of him. Most likely unaware of the TV in the first place, Bailey’s eyes are fixed on the screen of the Macbook placed on his lap. He’s wearing a plain black T-shirt, gray sweatpants, and a pair of black and gray Jordan’s. The voice of his young Hispanic female companion can be heard coming from another room.}}
Voice of Young Hispanic Woman: Babe, what time are we trying to head out?
Anthony "The Promise" Bailey: Soon, I just need to read this e-mail first.
Voice of Young Hispanic Woman: Oh okay. Who is it from?
Anthony "The Promise" Bailey: No clue, some girl that I apparently met in Tampa…
Voice of Young Hispanic Woman: Some girl?!
{{Anthony laughs.}}
Anthony "The Promise" Bailey: Don’t trip, it’s not even like that. It was one of the girls from the H.Y.C. event that I hung out with on Valentine’s Day. She was just writing to thank me for coming…I also got an e-mail from Frank. I miss that guy! I haven’t spoken to him in ages. Please remind me to call him in the car, okay?
Frank, who is known as Frank “The Tank” Cavalli by most is Anthony’s good friend, mentor, and trainer from the Florida Amateur Wrestling Association, a not for profit organization that Anthony used to volunteer with during college. Since signing with APW, Anthony hasn’t done the best job of keeping in touch with Frank and he feels as if the spotlight has disassociated him from the people who genuinely care for him and helped him get his career off the ground in the first place. This is something that Anthony feared would happen.
Voice of Young Hispanic Woman: Okay no problem…and I liked how you tried to switch up the subject on me.
{{Anthony exhales and mumbles under his breath.}}
Oh and don’t forget you still aren’t off the hook with that whole Carmen Electra thing either. You practically drooled all over her on national television.
Anthony "The Promise" Bailey: Didn’t we already go through this, Tasha?
The long concealed identity of Anthony’s mystery girlfriend has been revealed as he’s trying his best to remain patient with her. The two met in high school and have been a couple for about four years now. Many people are shocked that their relationship has lasted so long, given their variety of differences in personality. Though contrasting in many ways, their areas of compatibility have been the secret of their duration.
Tasha: Yeah but still…
Anthony "The Promise" Bailey: You know the sooner I read this e-mail, the sooner we can leave right?
{{Tasha remains silent at Anthony’s rhetorical question as he plugs his headphones into his laptop and places them in his ears. He proceeds to read to himself aloud.}}
Dear Anthony, hello, my name is Michelle and I am fifteen years old. I know you are really busy and you probably won’t even read this but thank you so much for visiting us on Valentine’s Day. The flowers, the candy, and the stuffed animals were so wonderful! My candy didn’t last long and every flower I get always dies so fast but I will cherish the stuffed animal forever.
{{Anthony pauses to snicker and then continues to read.}}
I even got my mom to buy a frame for the autograph that you gave me. I put it on the wall in my room right beside my mirror so that way I can look at it every day. And the pictures that we took together are up on my Facebook too. You should see all the likes and comments they got. What you said to all of us really made me feel special. I also did not grow up with a father around and it hurts me everyday. I would give anything to have him around. I always wanted to be daddy’s little princess but I guess that dream will never come true. It’s hard to accept but you gave me hope. You told me that I am a princess who will one day grow up to become a queen. It’s easy to hide my emotions because I do it all the time but I couldn’t help but cry when you told us that. Even the cute and popular guys that my friends from school try to hook me up with have never told me that I was a princess. All of them only tried to get one thing from me.
I didn’t know much about who you were before you came on Tuesday and I don’t even like wrestling that much but I promise to start watching it now because of you. You are the sweetest and most perfect guy I have ever met! Please come back and visit us soon. We love you! Love, Michelle…
{{Anthony pauses once again and slowly removes his headphones. He turns his attention away from the laptop and begins to face the camera. He begins to speak.}}
Man, I’m so ecstatic right now. Never in a million years could I have envisioned something like this happening to me. If I was to call up President Jeff or Reginald right now and asked to be released from my contract and decided to hang up my wrestling gear for good, I would have already accomplished my primary aspiration and that’s impacting people and changing lives. That’s been my motto from the beginning and who knew that a simple gesture on Valentine’s Day would open my eyes to this. It’s people like Michelle that inspire me and fuel my ambition and desire, not only inside of the ring but in life. Unfortunately quite a few of my fellow competitors do not share Michelle’s attitude and could care less if I fell off the face of the earth tomorrow. If I’m not being called out by Dan Quinn or Bacon, I’m dealing with cyber hooligans named Donkey Lips…I mean Thunderkiss. Though he has yet to voice his opinion towards me, I expect my next opponent in the Tap Out Title tournament Chaz Dillinger to be like the rest of them and ramble on about how much he can’t wait to get his hands on me and destroy me. Hopefully Chaz can join the likes of Rhonda Vixen because so far, she has been my only respectable opponent here in APW. I would’ve said Johnny Rebel but I only respect him as a wrestler and for what he’s done for the business but personally, I can’t stand the guy. But Rhonda on the other hand is someone that I like and respect.
Ironic that I would choose to mention Dillinger and the word respectable in the same sentence isn’t it? Once I discovered how this man’s family acquired their wealth, I became sick to my stomach. Dillinger, you deserve to be locked in jail and have the key thrown away right along with a few of Callahan’s boys on Wall Street. You guys are the real threat to society, not Al-Qaeda or Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. It’s not like you’re some sort of Robin Hood figure robbing from the rich to give to the poor, and whether or not that specific action is just or unjust is debatable. But no Chaz, you are robbing from the rich and then turning around and defecating on the poor. How do you climb in bed and sleep peacefully each night knowing the kind of reputation your family carries? If that was my family’s legacy I would seek immediate emancipation from them like Macaulay Culkin did and become an orphan. Better for a man to be out in the cold all by his lonesome than for him to belong to a bunch of fraudulent and deceptive individuals like the Dillingers.
The true paradox is this though…I’m unaware if I should refer to you as America’s Most Wanted or look for a cousin of yours on the next episode of the television show with the same name. I bet anything that your girlfriend Helena Stewart is somehow related to Martha Stewart. Not only do you come from a family of criminals but at the rate you’re going, you’ll be marrying into a family of criminals as well. I’m so glad that my boy Kid Dynamo defeated you a few weeks ago and no disrespect to him but I’m going to do all that I can to make it look like he took it easy on you. I will be the server of justice that you so rightfully deserve. Your scheming family may have gone decades without being caught and evading the law, but that’s what the February 26th edition of Asylum has been set aside for. On a surface level it’s just another match in this tournament to decide the next Tap Out Champion but if you begin to explore the depths, it’s so much more than that.
It’s no coincidence or product of chance that I have these certain convictions and that my worldview is the way that it is. It’s no accident that before the ink on my APW contract even dried, I vowed to be the beacon of light that this place needed. In no way am I attempting to take away from guys like CJ Gates, Kurt Noble, or Jason Kash because they have brought much radiance to this dim place. But this place needed more light. More light to expose the darkness…more light to make the roaches flee. By no means am I some kind of savior but I feel that I was an answer to somebody’s prayers. For far too long guys like Chaz Dillinger have run around here doing as they please. Well I’m not having it plain and simple. Dan Quinn attempted to eradicate me this past week but he failed. Why? Because evil can never ultimately overcome good. It might win a few battles here and there, but evil will never win the war. And since Quinn and Dillinger stand for the same type of things, is it hard to fathom the outcome of Chaz? I will continue on my quest for the Tap Out Title and that’s a promise.
{{Tasha suddenly walks into the living room and has a seat beside Anthony on the couch. She’s wearing a pink dress over black leggings.}}
Tasha: Babe, I’m so sorry about that.
{{Anthony removes his left hand from his laptop’s keyboard and places it on her leg.}}
Anthony "The Promise" Bailey: Believe me, it’s okay.
Tasha: You promise? I know we had an agreement about how to handle on camera conflict and everything but...
{{Anthony flashes his signature smile as he cuts her off.}}
Anthony "The Promise" Bailey: Sweetheart, it’s okay. Come here, I love you…
{{Anthony leans over and gives her a kiss on the lips. As he pulls away, a big smile comes across her face.}}
Tasha: What would I do without you? You treat me so well. I’m going to go finish getting ready okay?
Anthony "The Promise" Bailey: Okay love.
{{Tasha stands up and cheerfully skips off.}}
Man that girl sure is something else but that’s my heart right there. Well it’s about time for The Promise to head out. I have a few errands to run. Once again, thank you all for tuning in…and Michelle if you’re watching this, thank you for that e-mail. It made my day. God bless you all…
{{Anthony smiles as the scene fades to black.}}
