Indianapolis Indiana is the site for Rasslemania the event that will se the return of Assassin to APW. Cindy Shannon of APW caught up with Assassin after he arrived in Indianapolis and Assassin granted her access for an interview
“First of all thank you Assassin for allowing me to conduct this interview with you.”
”No problem Cindy. I always make time for you.”
“Thank you. Now at Rasslemania you will be making your return to APW in a match against RD Heart. I guess the first question I should ask is why the comeback?”
“Well Cindy I always liked this place. The talent here is always something to work with and the people in the office are good people as well. So coming back wasn’t that hard of a choice. To be honest I missed being in the ring.”
“I can understand that Assassin. But I guess what I’m trying to get at here is why Rasslemania?”
”Because the timing just seemed to be right. Coming back at Rasslemania just seemed to fit well. It wasn’t my first choice of course. But I knew how close to the event they were and just went with the flow.”
”We all heard you say that you came back to be a world champion. Knowing that you’ve won titles in other promotions like that and not here. Was that also a reason for the comeback?”
“That was part of the reason. I won’t lie. You always want to be a champion wherever you go. And if you don’t then your in the wrong business that’s all I can say. People want to be champions and I’m no exception to that.”
”What about the people who say that your coming back just to take time away from younger stars?”
”I say there full of shit Cindy. That’s what I say. If you can’t deal with an older guy coming back and you losing time or whatever then you need to figure your shit out or get a new job. When I started I had to deal with the same shit. Of course I complained about it for awhile like most people do.”
”But after sometime I realized I needed to step up and show I was worth something. That’s all I’m trying to say about these young guys.”
”What about your opponent RD Heart?”
”I don’t know anything about him. I’m not surprised about that and well this Sunday I’m going to learn about him and he’s going to learn about me. You see being part of this event is an honor it’s like when a football player would get voted to the Pro Bowl. Well not now because they suck but back when they were actually competitive. The honor is something you look forward to and want to up hold. Same goes with being on a Rasslemania card.”
”Weather it’s the opening match or the main event you take pride in the fact your on the event card in the first place. That’s what I’m taking about Cindy.”
”We’ve heard rumors about the AKA making a return to APW as they are getting inducted into the hall of fame. Any thoughts on that?”
”I haven’t heard anything yet about it. But if it were to happen I’d be in favor of it. They are my brothers and a damn good tag team. You have to be in order to be tag champions here after all.”
”Good point. So you haven’t heard anything at all?”
“No I haven’t Cindy. Last thing I heard was that they were being put in the hall of fame that’s it.”
”I know how tricky they can be so I just had to ask that’s all.”
”I understand your doing your job. And a damn good one at that.”
”Thank you. Now what do you expect out of your match for Rasslemania?”
”I’m expecting to show that I haven’t lost a step and that I’m still as good as I’ve been if not better. And of course I’m planning on winning as well. You don’t get to this event and plan on losing it’s just not a good thought.”
”I’m sure it’s not. But you know your opponent isn’t going to just roll over and let you beat him.”
”Of course not Cindy. It wouldn’t be a good match for one and it wouldn’t be a good thing to do at the biggest stage for APW. Like I said before you want to compete and your not going to back down and take a loss. It’s just not acceptable.”
”So it’s safe to say your expecting a fight then? Are you expecting this match to steal the show then?”
”On your first question yes I’m expecting a fight. I mean if the guy wants to make a good impression and a name for himself then he better put up a good fight. And as for the second question no I’m not expecting this match to steal the show. There are too many good matches on this card for us to steal the show. Frankly I’m glad I’m in the first match so I can kick back and watch this big event.”
”Wow that’s saying a lot Assassin. Well good luck Sunday night with RD Heart and your climb up the ladder of APW.”
“Thank you Cindy and I’m looking forward to Sunday and the climb to the top as well. It should be a lot of fun and worth the fight.”
