Afternoon. We find ourselves in the middle of rush hour in Gotham City. It’s unusually crowded thanks in part to a police barricade around Gotham National Bank. There we find Commissioner Jim Gordon coming into the scene.
Commissioner Gordon: What do we got?
Officer: Jumper, it’s Dr. Crane
Commissioner Gordon: Oh that’s not good. Where’s the negotiator?
Officer: Other side of town, we got a hostage situation at St. Lukes, some guy threatening to freeze the staff to death.
Commissioner Gordon: No…
Officer: Yeah. So we need you to go up the Jim.
Commissioner Gordon: Alright, is he armed?
Officer: No, but we ain’t sure.
Commissioner Gordon: I’ll risk it.
After a few minutes, Gordon makes his way to the top of the bank, where Dr. Jonathan Crane find himself on the ledge.
Commissioner Gordon: Doctor, come down.
Dr. Crane: No. I won’t. This has to end!
Commissioner Gordon: What has to end?
Dr. Crane: All of this. This charade of my life.
Commissioner Gordon: Doc come down and we can get you help.
Dr. Crane: Help? Gordon. I’m a physiatrist. I’ve done everything I can to help myself.
Commissioner Gordon: Jonathan, you sometimes need an outside look in.
Dr. Crane: I’ve looked inside James, there is nothing there. There is nothing worth living for. I don’t matter to anyone.
Commissioner Gordon: CRANE!
It’s too late, Crane leaps from the ledge and falls to his death.
DEAD Donald Deruty – Doctor Jonathan Crane (Town Doctor)
---
Evening. We find ourselves in the old abandoned fair ground where The Super Criminals circle a TV set.
Jack Ryder: This is Jack Ryder, live from Gotham National, where earlier today, Dr. Jonathan Crane leapt to his death in what has been confirmed by Commissioner Gordon as a suicide. The police had no further comment, Crane left no note or family behind.
Mr. Freeze: He served quite the distraction for me, by accident.
Harley Quinn: Say Freezey, why’d you need to be at St. Lukes?
Mr. Freeze: To get the necessary supplies to keep my love Nora alive.
The Joker: It’s a shame he jumped, a psychiatrist could have but quite the scare into people. Regardless, Harley, Freeze, we got big plans tonight. Plans to lure out the Bat.

Night. We find ourselves in the apartment of Jack Ryder as he goes over the news of the day in his living room. He keeps looking at a mirror on the coffee table, shaking his head.
Jack Ryder: Keep it together Jack, you can’t let the craziness around you affect you.
---
Night. We go down to the streets of Gotham where we see, through some sort of goggles, an ice cream truck pull up to the front of the building. We see its Nightwing looking through the goggles.
Nightwing: It’s February. Huh.
Inside the ice cream truck we see Mr. Freeze out of his suit while the air conditioner is on full blast and the freezers in the back open. He presses a button on the ice cream truck and a screen comes on.
Mr. Freeze: Joker, I’m outside of the building.
The Joker: Good good, are you sure no one is around you?
Just then there is a knock at the window and he throws on a hat and jacket before answer the knock of Nightwing.
Mr. Freeze: Nightwing! Is there something I can do for you?
Nightwing: You could answer to why you’re driving an ice cream truck in February mister…
Mr. Freeze: FREEZE!
Just then a flash and Nightwing falls back asMr. Freeze grabs his suit and puts it on, just as Nightwing is able to get his bearings back.
Nightwing: Dr. Fries??
Mr. Freeze: No you wanna-be, that man died. But born a new, a more cooler man.
Nightwing: What are you doing here?
Mr. Freeze: The Joker is looking for more recruits, I have been driving all around Gotham tonight looking, last on the list was this address.
Nightwing: You’re not getting up there.
Mr. Freeze: You need to…chillax.
After another pun, Freeze shoots his freeze gun at Nightwing, who moves out of the way. After back and forth fighting, Nightwing gets the best of him, knocking him out cold with his electric batons. He presses a button on his chest.
Nightwing: Oracle send Robin and Jean Paul to my location, I got Freeze but I need help taking him in, he’s quite the load.
---
Night. We find ourselves at a nice restaurant, where we find Bruce Wayne seated across from his date, Selina Kyle. The dinner is almost over as the plates are empty.
Bruce Wayne: Selina, I need to know you’re alright.
Selina Kyle: Bruce, I’m alright. I’ll be fine, I can more than handle myself.
Bruce Wayne: But with The Joker out there, I’m worried.
She grabs his hand and kisses it.
Selina Kyle: I’ll be fine. Look why don’t we get out of here go back to my place.
Bruce Wayne: Sounds great.
They pay and leave, but as they leave they see Commissioner Gordon at the door with his wife.
Commissioner Gordon: Honey, it’s my one night off, I don’t want to spend it here. It’s too fancy.
Mrs. Gordon: Jim you promised me one night a month where we go out, and this is that night.
Bruce Wayne: Commissioner Gordon. Having trouble?
Commissioner Gordon: Nothing I can’t handle, actually, I need this I think, after Crane…
They all bow their heads.
Bruce Wayne: It’s a shame, the only time I talked to him, I scared him. Heard he was a brilliant mind.
Commissioner Gordon: Too brilliant.
Selina Kyle: A gift that is a curse.
Bruce Wayne: I know that feeling…
Selina Kyle: What was that Bruce?
Bruce Wayne: Oh, nothing.
Just then, Gordon gets a phone call. He answers it, much to the anger of his wife.
Commissioner Gordon: What?....ok….look, I’m with my wife, let Johnson handle it.
Mrs. Gordon: What was that?
Commissioner Gordon: Apparently that freak that threatened St. Lukes today, was caught fighting Nightwing but after Nightwing subdued him, he took him with him wherever he was going.
Bruce Wayne: It was nice seeing you Jim.
Commissioner Gordon: Same here.
Bruce hurries Selina out of the place.
Bruce Wayne: Selina, I have to go, Alfred reminded me tonight that I have a big meeting tomorrow that I need to be at. I’m sorry.
Selina Kyle: It’s ok Bruce, maybe next time.
She kisses him on the cheek and calls for a cab. As he calls Alfred. She gets in the cab as Alfred picks up
Bruce Wayne: Alfred, get the suit and car ready.
---
Night. We are in a back alley where Nightwing has Mr. Freeze under restraints as Robin and Jean Paul Valley , the former agent of the Sacred Order of Saint Dumas, now under the tutelage of Batman learning how to control his mind.
Nightwing: Take your time Robin
Robin: Sorry, something was interfering with your signal. Nightwing: Impossible, the only way you can jam the signal is if you’re right on top of me.
HAHAHAHAHAAAAA
Robin: Joker!
Sure enough, Robin was right. The three disciples of Batman look up to see The Joker and Harley Quinn above them.
The Joker: It’s the bird gang and the supermodel. Sorry kiddies, but you seem to have something of ours.
Harley Quinn: Yea, so either fly the coup or get your wings clipped.
Nightwing: I’d like to see you try.
The Joker: Harley my dear? Take care of the supermodel, I have the birds.
They hop down and a battle ensues. By the time Batman can get there, it’s too late as Harley has stabbed Jean Paul Valley fatally, distracting Robin and Nightwing from The Joker who takes the restraints off of Mr. Freeze. They leave as Harley throws a smoke bomb to cover the way they left. Batman lifts the body of Jean Paul Valley as he leaves with Robin and Nightwing behind him.

Vote: Jules
I still think Yarmouth could be scum, and it seems like Jules defends Yarmouth making an excuse for him when Yarmouth doesn't even make any excuses for himself. How quickly Jules has snapped at people about being scum seems odd.
Speede is still on my radar, seemed he was begging people to divulge information when they weren't freely giving it. Other things he's done has seemed forced as well or diversionary (The introduction to Phenom was odd at best.)
My two cents.

I know I'm new, but I believe L1, KJE, T-Marv, A.C., and I are town.
Here is who I would pick as solid town:
1) L1 2) KJE 3) T-Marv 4) A.C. 5) Me
Potential Town: 1) Yarmouth
Potential Scum 1) Jules 2) Speede 3) Finnish Phenom (The random conversation between him and Speede has got me interested to hear more from him)
Everything else seems toss up. L1, KJE, T-Marv, A.C. - what do you think of this?

I have been far too disconnected from this game, and I apologize for that.
I'm trying harder now. I promise.
I get a huge Town read from L1.... especially early on. I don't think Yarmouth is mafia... he's giving off town reads as well.
I'm weary of Jules and Valo to be honest. Speede is another one I worry about.

I see the Jules overreacting thing. You guys might be right on him. Definitely want to see more. I'm wondering why Hart was voting for Raab though way back when. He never really explained that away. Not that Raab is acting scummy, but something I'm watching.

Can I ask why Donald Deruty was mod lynched? Can I ask why Donald Deruty was mod lynched? Inactivity and he couldn't have had a worse role to die with. As far as my reads go - Kaylyn is town aligned. I don't know about anyone else because there's no information coming out and about and everything else is just substantial and objective at this point. I do have my suspicions which includes Yarmouth, Speede and Jules. Jules because as I read back during this night phase - his first real post contained specific details nobody else in this game seems to be privy to and his second post seemed to be setting the groundwork for something. As far as this night phase is concerned, hopefully we got some info to work with. Watch your claims, guys. Here's hoping I helped someone out last night. ;D

From what I got last night, Roy is Town. I decided with all the back and forth and uncertainty there it might be good to figure that out.
So far..
1. L1 2. Myself. 3.Roy Speede.
This here is town via facts (roles)
Gooch... As far as A.C, T-marv and Gooch.. how do you clear the three of you? I mean, anyone can get a feeling from someone... but to state they are clear...
Honestly, with you naming THREE people... that were not including myself and L1 which was obvious to everyone why the two of us were clear... I now have three suspects.

KJE, All I have are gut feelings. Remember, this is my second game. Last game when I was scum, I was fed all the lines to say. This time, you guys can see how green I am on my own as a townie. We didn't have much to go off of. I'm still keeping my vote for Jules, I'm shocked about Speede. Sorry I doubted you bud.
I assure you, and everyone, that I'm town. Evidence is stacking against Jules, even L1 has seen it. L1 saw stuff I sure didn't see, I just have a vibe, Jules has been getting overly defensive.

I kinda had that read after what he hinted at but I wasn't 100% on it. I guess that is 4 town.
I don't want to just assume you are town Jeff, hope you can understand that. Without knowing how you know Phenom is town, and I don't want you to out anything... I just have to wait until it can be proven you are indeed town, after all scum know who is town

The scum are sitting in their QT having a good laugh right now. They're recruiting and killing, we're all clueless and turning the knife in the direction of townies. I haven't got any specific night info yet that would advance my credibility, but I can assure you that it would be a mistake to pursue me. Anyway, since I seem to be the centre of everyone's attention I'll offer a few comments. I work through chronilogically, from day. FOS: JulesI'm gonna be honest. I've seen this movie before. Jules makes 1-2 posts on day two, one of which subtly sandbags someone. He flies under the radar, undetected by anyone, and he winds up being scum. I don't have hard evidence; as mentioned, that's just not the kind of role I have. But I'd very much like someone to check Jules tonight, because I smell a rat. Explain to me how I'm sandbagging anyone. The comment you are referring to was a much a throwaway comment as Hart's vote on Raab, but it served it's purpose. As for laying low, hardly. I made two posts during day 2, one a post where I tried to extrapolate from info from write-ups we were given. The second, a facetious comment to a pointless 'checking in, I'm town' post from someone. You're right, there is a smell of a rat about this place, but it's not coming from me. I'm here to help the town. These two comments are so ridiculous I wasn't going to bother giving them the credit of a response, but I'd hate to be accused of avoiding a question. First of all, I haven't once made excuses for Yarmouth, let alone vouched for him. I simply commented that because he plays like a bonehead every game he is impossible to read. As for overreacting - where on earth did you get that from? This is my first reply. It's funny, when one of the 'experienced' players facetiously suggests someone is looking scummy it's called 'aggressive scum-hunting', when someone else uses the tactic that person is a suspect. I didn't once vote or FoS Buckson, if anyone is overreacting it's Buckson with his OMGUS vote. This is the scummiest play of the whole game so far. If it you weren't a new player and I wasn't sure that if you were scum your QT would have advised you against this absurd aggression, I'd know where to look. It's called extrapolation, Lester. I was suggesting hypotheses from what the write-ups may have told us. Is trying to instigate discussion, making suggestions about the game's set-up an anti-town move these days? Enlighten me, what info I am supposedly privy to?

I never said your post was necessarily a scum tell or what you were doing was anti town - I am just saying, you seem to be ahead of the curve given what occurred day two. Either you guess work was spot on - or you knew what questions to throw out there in what appears to be a rather well thought out first post.
I did not really want to go here because if your town it gives the mafia a bit of an easy out but you asked for it.
What caught my attention is that the mafia recruited Dr. Fries to become Mr. Freeze. In the Batman mythology this was a good guy who turned into a villain due to circumstances, right? Could it be there are a number of characters who start town, but if targeted by the recruiter can become 'Super Villains'? (e.g. Harvey Dent may be one of these.)
On the first bold point, on night one there was not even ONE other post that pushed the line that Harley Quinn (as I recall?) wasn't role blocked. We still can't even say for sure. Yet last night nobody was recruited and Harley still killed. By logical deduction either you are night wing or the mafia is alternating between the two.
You aren't scum because your right, Jules. Though, I can't tell if you knew this beforehand. If your scum, you certainly were careful enough to pose it all in the form of a question - rather then fact. You're not an idiot.
On the bold second point: The Mr. Freeze recruitment at the time led way to valid assumption that some players characters have split personalities and can be recruited (which is now fact, look at Deruty's role) but again - excuse me for thinking up the possibility that you may just be one of these recruitable characters, whether or not your even scum as of this moment.
Next post...
Bolded point one - Nothing wrong with you making this point. But then some time later when Buckson Gooch claims he is town and that he encourages anyone to check him out to confirm this, your the first one to jump on him and raise the possibility that he is scum (ninja) trying to distract from potential investigations of his scum buddies.
Encouraging the town to investigate the big names because they are likely recruits while a valid point - can be summed up as the same thing you accused Buckson of. Especially since you cannot even be confirmed as a townie.
On the second bold point as you encourage everyone to check out the big names and push your recruitment theory, you seem to conveniently forget that you are up for a Mafia Player of the Year award and that you fall under that banner - furthermore, you do not bother to actually encourage any night actions on yourself.
And your asking me where my suspicions come from, Jules? Okay buddy, whatever you say. Lucky enough for you, I learned not to cast votes like these as long as power roles remain in the game.

Post by Jules on Dec 12, 2012 11:09:07 GMT -4
Lester, that's fair enough. At least I can see where you're coming from now. The large post was entirely hypothetical, like I said I was just throwing stuff out there.
The point behind investigating big names was meant to be a positive step. The way I figured the more experienced players we can either clear as town or nail as scum early on, the better for the town in the long run. Notice I deliberately didn't mention any names, given the propensity of some towards paranoia.
As for not naming myself, well I don't think I have ever said 'investigate me' at any point in any mafia game I've played. Personally, I tend to look suspiciously at those sorts of plays so early in the game, so I don't make them. My comment about Buckson was a facetious one, hoping to draw a reaction, which I did get. It has been noted who reacted to that and how they reacted. Add to that Buckson's scummy plea for everyone to jump on his wagon and it makes for even more interesting reading. (Again notice how I didn't either vote or FoS Buckson.)
If this needs some further clarification: I am not setting up Buckson here. I'm not saying he's scum. Just pointing out his obviously scummy behaviour.
One thing I didn't respond to in my last post was the accusation made against me that I was subtly setting something up. I actually find it quite ironic that I didn't once vote or FoS anyone, yet those who have done to me what they have accused me of (i.e. make moves to 'set something up') have done so. Interesting that.

I should have added in that third paragraph: I leave it to others to decide who they should and shouldn't investigate. But if the town wants to go down that route and check me out, go for it. You'll find I'll turn up innocent.

Jules, I appreciate the clarification, but your response has it's inconsistency.
You mentioned my "response" was "noted." But I wasn't supposed to "note" your scumlike response when you posted:
I've heard, "throw a rock in a pack of dogs and the one that yelps is the one that got hit", but I wasn't even aiming at you and you lobbed this one at me. You've been suspect to me ever since. You can call it a facetious comment on your part.
As I did for Speede, you end up not being scum, I'll be glad to apologize.
But I'm not changing my vote. Perhaps I shouldn't have led a charge for people to vote you off (lesson learned by the n00b) but what evidence do you have to state otherwise? If you are town and the scum will kill you, give us the information and you still get credited with the win.
KJE took one for the team last game and took me with her. What a martyr move that would be if you did the same thing? Are you sitting on information? If you are, release it and help the town.
If you are town, you see that people are turning on you. What can you do to change it so that we can get scum? If you are scum, you'll just keep defending your previous actions as "facetious" and not bring any evidence.
If my behavior is perceived as "scummy" because someone comes from out of nowhere with an accusation and then retreats when no one jumps on board and calls it "facetious", then my apologies. I assure everyone that I'm town. We'll see that when town wins or win my number is called as killed.
If you put an FOS or Vote for me, you're voting for a townie and the scum keeps doing what they're doing.
