First off, thanks for the extremely kind words, Sally. I'm humbled by them. I don't know how else to respond other than thank you.
As for the closure of APW itself, I'm at once saddened, but also relieved. I had known that Jeff was planning to close down in March after RassleMania X, so I figured if I could just hold on until then, things would be hunky dory. J-Reb was just going to be stepping in to help to give me a bit of a break, and the plan was to close out with two strong PPV cycles. But as I've been battling my health issues, it's been harder and harder to make the time for APW.
That being said, I can't say that I loved every minute of being the General Manager of Asylum, as there were a few frustrating nights where I just wanted to get to watching football or wrestling, and I was just waiting on one promo or two matches, or whatever. Still, it was an honor to serve y'all in that capacity. All I ever wanted to accomplish with Asylum was to give you guys a show where you could have fun with it, and I think that mission was very much accomplished.
I'm not going to do a ton shout-outs, just because I feel like I would forget somebody and feel bad about it later. For now, I'm just going to say thank you to all the friends I've made here, while highlighting a few of the folks that had a huge impact on me. Whether you were on the roster for a week or years, everyone here has contributed to making APW the best fed I've ever been a part of.
I'm going to echo all the sentiments that have been relayed about Jeff, as without him, this place wouldn't even exist. Jeff, you already know how much I appreciate you and our friendship.
J-Reb, Anthony Bailey, and Gooch, as the so-called religious contingent of APW, I appreciated the fact that if I ever had a problem, or needed to make a prayer request, I could talk with you guys about it, and knew that you guys had my back. Thanks for being such awesome brothers in Christ.
Level-One, you son of a gun, if there's one guy here who pushed me to grow as a writer, it's you. Folks could go blue in the face trying to tell me that I was a good writer, I would always think in the back of my mind, sure, I may be decent, but I'm no Level-One. It's a shame your last match went down the way that it did, but I'm going to chose to remember you by the brilliance you displayed week in and week out for years. I know for a fact that the greatest accomplishment in my e-fedding career characterwise was defeating you at Test for the Best a few years back. Still, you won the rubber match, you bum!
Jason Kash, you are one crazy dude who has helped me a lot over the years. If I needed a match written, or a quick seg to help with the flow of the show, I could always count on you. You make me laugh a lot, and I appreciated the way you referred to me as "Warden." Where ever you end up, I wish you the best.
Raab, I've just got to say, of all the members of the Asylum roster that I've worked with over the years, you are the person that has worked the hardest to improve the most. Bravo to you.
C.J. Gates, you already know how I feel about you, bud. You're one of my best friends on the boards, and it has been an honor and a pleasure getting to work so closely with you over the last couple of years. You were easily my greatest rival.
Shadow, I've just got to say it, but you were the guy who made me somebody in APW. Without you being willing to work with me when I first got here, there is no way I would have lasted here as long as I have. Thank you.
Sally, it's kind of funny how much we interacted in-character, even though we never had an official feud. I always enjoyed working with you, and more importantly, I always enjoyed interacting with you out of character. You've always been easy to talk to, and have been another person I could bounce ideas off of and get constructive feedback. I'm certainly glad to have had you here in APW.
I just want to throw some other quick shout-outs to Young Mannie, Terry Marvin, Kurt Noble, Michael Jennings, Evan Envi, Jair Hopkins (who was somebody I always felt bad about not putting higher on the card), Knuckles,Michael Callahan and everyone else who ever wrestled for Asylum, Overdrive, or Meltdown. Thanks for all making APW awesome!
Another big thanks to everyone involved in the Black Hand vs. Space Cowboys/Foul Play feud.
Speaking of Awesome, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention my partner in the Axis of Awesome. Chris Cyrus, I'm not sure if you're ever going to see this, but dude, it was a blast working with you!
I guess the only appropriate way to end this is the same way I end every visit to the chat room, with a cheesy pick-up line! "Girl, are you religious? Oh, you are! That's great, because I'm the answer to your prayers!"
